We have developed a new method to measure the water vapor transmission ratio (WVTR) for thin film encapsulation (TFE) of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). It is a nondestructive method to measure WVTR by investigating the change of photoluminescent spectra of organic material. This method can be realized easily by online test. By calibrating the evolution curve (the photoluminescent intensity versus time), we have figured out the relative water transmission which was responded by organic materials. The WVTR of TFE devices is estimated to be about 2.0×10-2gm-2day-1 in a controlled environment of 85% relative humidity (RH) at 38℃. Novel thin film encapsulation devices have also been presented.

More and more attentions have been focused on the lighting source as it plays an important role to people's health. The light emitting efficiency of light emitting diode has been broken through year by year and now it has been surpassed that of the traditional lighting source. In order to improve the lighting quality by a lighting source with flexible color temperature, a data base is created with different color temperature by mixing different proportion luminous flux of red, green and blue light emitting diode based on theoretical calculations. The data base is embedded into the control program and it can run different proportion to realize light source variation with color temperature at different time. The experimental results show that the lighting source can realize correlated color temperature from 2300-7000 K, real color temperature is in accordance with that of theoretical calculation. Thus a sunlight-style lighting device is realized fundamentally.

The scalable video coding (SVC) standard adopts the variable size motion estimation (ME) to select the best coding mode for each macroblock (MB). Although this technique achieves the highest possible coding efficiency, it results in extremely large computation complexity which obstructs SVC from the practical application. In this paper, we propose an adaptive early termination of fast mode decision algorithm in SVC. It makes use of the coding information of spatial neighbor MBs and the corresponding MBs in base layer to early terminate the mode decision procedure. Experimental results show that the proposed fast mode decision algorithm can achieve computational saving up to 67% with no significant loss of rate distortion (RD) performance.

A high-linearity power amplifier (PA) for 2.4GHz Wireless-LAN transceiver is presented. The PA is designed and implemented using a 0.18um SiGe BiCMOS process. An on-chip adaptive linearizer is comprised of a base-emitter diode of the bias transistor and a bypass capacitor with almost no increase in die area and no extra dc consumption. Besides the linearization function, the active biasing circuit is also temperature-insensitive with simple structure. Including all matching circuits and biasing circuits, the die area of the fully integrated PA is 1.2mm*1.1mm. Temperature simulation indicates the variation of power gain is less than 1.6dB from 20°C to 80°C. The second-order and third-order IMD are less than -30.9dBc and -34.5dBc when the output P1dB has been reached. With 3.3V supply, the PA achieves max P1dB of 23.2dBm and a power added efficiency (PAE)of 21.3%.
