With the increasingly extensive applications for the new emerging video coding standard, H.264/AVC, it becomes more and more important that we transport H.264/AVC video over MPEG-2 system by exploiting all the existing large amount of the infrastructure of MPEG-2 systems. In this paper, we propose two solutions for it. The key technologies are as follows: firstly we use an H.264/AVC video as an elementary stream of an MPEG-2 system and multiplex it into a TS (transport stream), then extend the T-STD (transport stream-system target decoder) of MPEG-2 standard, so as to transport MPEG-2 TS through Internet and decode it in the client. Ordinarily, the decoded elementary stream should come from a container (a system layer encapsulation including a compression layer), such as AVI. However, we take MPEG-2 TS as a container herein. We encapsulate the H.264/AVC elementary stream into this container in the server, and extract the H.264/AVC video from it to be decoded and be represented. If we use the UDP (user datagram protocol) as a transport protocol, the streaming process will be a real-time one. The experiment result shows that we get a good result, with less than 5% frames whose PSNR<40 dB. We can even get a robust streaming by using the HTTP/TCP (hyper-text transport protocol/transport control protocol) as a transport protocol. All the streaming solutions that we proposed in this paper can also be used for mobile video.

The result is that the memory access time has been a bottleneck which limits the system performance. Memory controller (MC) is designed and built to attacking this problem. The memory controller is the part of the system that, well, controls the memory. The memory controller is normally integrated into the system chipset. This paper shows how to build an advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture (AMBA) compliant MC as an advanced High-performance Bus (AHB) slave. The MC is designed for system memory control with the main memory consisting of SRAM and ROM. Thermal controllers equipped with phase-change materials are widely used for maintaining the moderate temperatures of various electric devices used in spacecraft. Yet, the structures of amounts of thermal controllers add up to such a large value that restricts the employment of scientific devices due to the limit of rocket capacity. A lightweight structure of phase-change thermal controllers has been one of the main focuses of spacecraft design engineering. In this work, we design a lightweight phase-change thermal controller structure based on lattice cells. The structure is manufactured entirely with AlSi10 Mg by direct metal laser melting. The dimensions of the structure are 230 mm × 170 mm × 15 mm, and the mass is 190 g, which is 60% lighter than most traditional structures(500–600 g) with the same dimensions. The 3 D-printed structure can reduce the risk of leakage at soldering manufacture by a welding process. Whether the strength of the designed structure is sufficient is determined through mechanical analysis and experiments. Thermal test results show that the thermal capacity of the lattice-based thermal controller is increased by50% compared to that of traditional controllers with the same volume.

As the appearance of local dimming technique, the current existing test methods are not suitable for testing the power consumption of the LCD TVs using the local dimming technique any longer. A test method appropriate to LED backlight LCD TVs using the local dimming technique is proposed in this paper, and then the test software is developed. The results demonstrate that the test software developed can show the real average power consumption of the LCD using local dimming technique, and by normalization the power consumption become comparable for not only local dimming LCD TVs but global dimming LCD TVs. Using the software developed in this paper, the ratio of power saving is clear when an LCD TV using the local dimming technique compared with one without local dimming technique.
