An organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) with compound insulator have been made. The structure of compound insulator: SiO2/SiN x/SiO2/PMMA. A 50 nm PMMA layer was coated on top of the SiO2 gate insulator as additional insulator layer. The results demonstrated that using inorganic/organic compound insulator as the gate dielectric layers is an effective method to fabricate OTFTs with improved electric characteristics and decreased leakage current. Electrical parameters such as carrier mobility and on/off ratio by field effect measurement have been calculated. OTFT based on ITO glass substrate with a field-effect mobility of 0.003 cm2/Vs and on/off ratio of 104 have been obtained.

This paper presents a low delay architecture design method for the hardware implementation of the advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm. The proposed architecture is designed by using constant matrix multiplications (CMM) merging technologies. To reduce the area cost in hardware implementations, S-box/InvS-box is usually implemented with composite field arithmetic (CFA) technologies. In this paper, CMM in CFA-based S-box/InvS-box are further merged with constant coefficient multiplications in MixColumns/ InvMixColumns, which can also be expressed as CMM forms. By the merging, the delay of the hardware implementation of encryption round transform is reduced at the cost of slight area cost increasing, and both delay and area cost are reduced in hardware implementations of decryption round transform. Hardware complexities analysis indicates that our designs have less delay compared with previous works. © 2022 IEEE.

Conventional lead-free solders, with a solder alloy particle size in the micrometer range, present some major disadvantages, such as relatively high melting temperatures, which can result in defects and build up stresses during reflow processing, and limited application for high density, ultra- small pitch electronic applications. By decreasing the size of the solder alloy particles to the nanometer range, one can both decrease the melting temperature of the solder alloy and use such solders in very fine pitch applications. Besides lower melting temperature, particles in the nanometer size range present many other extraordinary properties, such as, large surface area per unit volume, large surface energy, supermagnetism, extraordinary optical properties, self- purification properties and quantum size effects. It is all these extraordinary properties that have attracted the attention of both scientific and technological communities all over the world. The main focus of this paper is the recent development of both composite solders and pure nano-solder pastes and their application as electronic interconnect materials. The paper starts by giving and introduction to the subject of nanoparticles, including definitions, advantages and general applications. This is followed by a section dealing with the main manufacturing processes presently being used to manufacture solder alloy nanoparticles. The two main sections of this article deal with composite solders and pure nanosolder pastes. The first part, regarding composite solders, deals with the issues related to adding nanoreinforcements into conventional micrometer-sized solders and the effect of such reinforcements on both the mechanical and physical properties of solder alloys. The second part deals with pure nano-solder pastes and their application in electronic interconnect applications.

Image and video coding in block-based image coding can cause blocking artifacts, which severely degrade visual quality in the compressed sequences. Loop deblocking filter method can reduce these artifacts and improve the video objective and subjective quality obviously. In this paper, we propose an efficient deblocking filtering method for multiview video coding, which considers the color bleeding distortion. Experimental results show that this proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional deblocking algorithm in terms of PSNR and subjective visual quality when QP value is relatively high.

This paper proposes an efficient approach to extract salient objects in an image. A scale-invariant saliency map is first constructed based on a multi-resolution feature contrast calculation, meanwhile the image is segmented into homogenous regions using nonparametric kernel density estimation (NKDE). Then the region saliency ratio of each region combination to its complement is calculated in turn. Finally, salient objects are extracted by maximizing the region saliency ratio. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Accurate segmentation of moving objects from a video sequence is still a difficult task. A moving object segmentation method is proposed in this paper to deal with the segmentation splits and defects. First, it is claimed that the confusion point is one reason for the segmentation inaccuracy, and corresponding solution is also presented. According to the solution, new likelihood functions are proposed to compute membership probabilities, which are then used for final segmentation within an energy minimization framework. Unlike related algorithms which compute membership probabilities using kernel density estimation, the proposed method models the membership probabilities as functions with kernel density estimation as the independent variable. Experiments show that improved results are generated by the proposed likelihood functions.

In the draft of multi-view coding (MVC), variable size motion estimation and disparity estimation are employed to select the best coding mode for each macroblock. These techniques achieve the highest possible coding efficiency, but they result in extremely large computation complexity which obstructs MVC from practical application. This paper proposes a fast mode size decision algorithm for MVC in inter-frame coding. It makes use of the mode distribution correlation between neighbor views to deduct the executions of unnecessary modes. Experimental results show that the proposed fast mode decision algorithm reduces the computational complexity significantly with negligible coding efficiency.

The intermediate view synthesis from arbitrary view is a challenging topic in multi-view areas, many image-based rendering methods have been proposed to solve this problem. A new multi-view intermediate view synthesis method based on Tikhonov regularization function is proposed to synthesis view from limited number of source views. The experiments show good results of the synthesized views.

This paper reviews the status and recent progress achieved in the research of thermal interface materials (TIMs). The focus is on the research work performed in academia. The research and development work carried out in industry is also generally introduced. The existing TIM technologies have been categorized into eight main types and comprehensively analyzed. The state-of-the-art-research is then summarized and discussed with an emphasis on the carbon-filled materials. Other aspects of the TIM-related research, including theoretical study, modeling work, and characterization etc., are also briefly covered.
