Left and right-handed helical barium titanate nanotubes are prepared with the impregnation of Ba(OH)2 into single-handed helical titania *** angle X-ray diffraction pattern and transmission electron microscopy image indicate that they are constructed by nanoparticles with a partially crystalline *** diffuse reflertance circular dichroism spectra indicate that they exhibit optical activity which was proposed to originate from chiral defects on the inner surfaces of the *** the dielectric constant and tanδ decrease with increasing the *** 10 and 100 Hz,one dielectric constant peak at 9.6℃ and one tanδ peak at 5.0℃ are observed at -120℃ to 180℃.

Simple synthesis of multifunctional electrocatalysts with plentiful active sites from earth-abundant materials is especially fascinating. Here, N-doped defective carbon with trace Co (1.5 wt%) was prepared via a scalable one pot solid pyrolysis process. The sample exhibits efficient bifunctional OER/ORR activiW in alkaline, mainly ascribed to the unique micro-mesoporous structure (1-3 nm), high population of graphitic-N doping (up to 49.0%), abundant defects and the encapsulated Co nanoparticles with graphitized carbon. The according rechargeahle liquid Zn-air batteries showed excellent performance (maximum power density of 154.0 mWcm-2: energy density of 773Wh kg -1 at 5 mAcm 2 and charging-discharging cycling stability over 100 cycles). As a proof-of-concept, the flexible, rechargeable all-solid-state Zn-air batteries were constructed, and displayed a maximum power density as high as 45.9 mW cm 2 among the top level of those reported previously.

Circular dichroism(CD) is usually used to study supramolecular chirality. With the development of CD methods, diffuse transmission CD(DTCD) and diffuse reflectance CD(DRCD) have been developed. However, the relationship among CD, DTCD and DRCD has not been well-studied. A chiral low molecular weight gelator was synthesized, which can result in a transparent physical gel in deionized water. The field-emission electron microscopy images show that the gel is able to self-assemble into left-handed helical fibers. The CD and DTCD spectra are al- most identical, but they partially differ from the DRCD spectrum. Based on the TD-DFT calculated CD spectrum, the DRCD spectrum is shown to be more accurate.

Photothermal conversion for water vapor gen- eration is a novel strategy and an efficient way to utilize solar energy, which has great potential for water purification and desalination. In this review, the development of photothermal conversion and the classification of absorbers for solar vapor generation systems are presented, especially in recent devel- opment of carbon nanocomposites (carbon nanotubes and graphene) as solar vapor generation devices. Combined with recent progresses and achievements in this field, we discuss the challenges and opportunities for photothermal conversion based on carbon nanocomposites as well as their promising applications.
