In this paper, a discrete mathematical approach to solve scheduling of multi-pipeline systems for petroleum products under demand uncertainty is presented. To deal with the uncertainty, the conditional value-at-risk(CVAR) analysis is adopted as a risk measure. Firstly an improved scheduling approach is proposed to model the multi-pipeline system with the consideration of different pipeline segment sizes. The improved formulation is computationally intractable when pipeline segments have distinct capacities. Then the model takes a scenario-based approach to cope with uncertainty in a CVAR framework. Computational results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. All the instances are implemented using CPLEX.

Due to the nonlinearities, model uncertainties and disturbances of the two-tank liquid level cascade system,active disturbance rejection controller(ADRC) solution was developed. First, a nonlinear mechanism model and its linearized model were built based on the theories of fluid dynamics for the system. Second, first-order linear ADRCs for the outer loop of the two cascade systems with an unknown order were designed, respectively. With a simple integrator as the normalized type of the feedback system, other parts of dynamic system which are different from the normalized type are treated as the total disturbances. The disturbances were estimated by the second-order linear extended state observer and compensated in the control law. Then the system, with nonlinearities, uncertainties and disturbances, is reduced to only a linear integrator. In comparison with the traditional PI controller, simulation results show that both the proposed ADRCs have better robustness and adaptability against model uncertainties.

This paper focuses on the problem of impulsive synchronization of a class of complex dynamical networks. Based on impulsive control theory and a comparison theorem, generic criteria for complete synchronization are derived. It is shown that these criteria provide a novel and effective control approach to synchronize a general dynamical network to a synchronization manifold by exposing the relationship between impulsive synchronization, the impulsive intervals, and the graph topology. A numerical example is given to illustrate the results.

By introducing multi-agent systems, a consensus based distributed optimization algorithm is considered in this paper. The state of each agent is to be controlled to reach a consensus on the global optimal set. From control point of view, the control input of each agent is designed based on neighbours' state information and local cost functions. Necessary and sufficient conditions on the convergence of the whole system are given in terms of graph connectivity and balancedness, as well as the persistence of the decaying step size. The convergence rate is given under some general assumptions. Last, some numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the control protocol.

Being paid great attention to its operating performance, patent is the key element for a country or area to gain long-term advantage in various competitions. This paper, based on Chinese patent data, proposes a two-stage model with factor analysis and clustering analysis. It also proposes a patent innovation performance evaluation system in view of the input-output index of twenty patents, giving factor analysis to principal components, combining the various indexes to create new factors through calculating, extracting and aggregating, and then with this new factor score, this article evaluates the patent innovation performance systematically using the clustering analysis. The results show that, obviously, patent modification can promote innovation patent performance, especially the second modification. And at last, this article provides suggestion and development strategies to the improvement of patent system.

A novel active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) solution and a particular tuning method are presented for a class of time delay system (TDS) with uncertainty. First, the complicated process dynamics is modeled as a simple first order plus large time delay (FOPTD) plant, with the difference between the actual dynamics and its model treated as disturbances to be rejected. Then the reduced order linear extended state observer (RLESO) with input delay is proposed to estimate the time delay state and disturbance. It is shown how the time delay could be eliminated from the characteristic equation of the closed-loop system by manipulations of controller parameters. Secondly, the one parameter tuning (OPT) technique is developed where all controller parameters are made function of a single coefficient. In comparison with optimal proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and twice optimum controller (TOC), the simulation results show that the proposed method not only has better accuracy and faster response, but also ensures better robustness and adaptability against uncertain model parameters and external disturbances, especially for the plant with very large time delays.
