With the progress of DNA computing, DNA-based cryptography becomes an emerging interdisciplinary research field. In this paper, we present a novel DNA cryptography that takes advantage of DNA self-assembled structure. Making use of the toehold strands recognition and strand displacement, the bit-wise exclusive-or (XOR) operation is carried out to fulfill the information encryption and decryption in the form of a one-time-pad. The security of this system mainly comes from the physical isolation and specificity of DNA molecules. The system is constructed by using complex DNA self-assembly, in which technique of fluorescent detection is utilized to implement the signal processing. In the proposed DNA cryptography, the XOR operation at each bit is carried out individually, thus the encryption and decryption process could be conducted in a massive, parallel way. This work may demonstrate that DNA cryptography has the great potential applications in the field of information security.

This paper considers distributed estimation over heterogeneous sensor networks. We propose a distributed estimation strategy based on PageRank algorithm, where the link weight depends on the edge estimation covariances. We prove that the proposed estimator obtains better estimates than one typical estimator under identical initial conditions. Motivated by the advantage of the sensors with high accuracy locating at important positions, we propose an optimal sensor deployment strategy to arrange locations for sensors in a given physical network. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed estimator, showing a better performance under the optimal sensor deployment.

New product development (NPD) projects have been major forces driving company competitive advantage. All of them should align with corporate strategy so that the limited resources may be allocated effectively. However, few studies have been conducted to measure the extent that the NPD project matches with strategy. The paper identifies the cause-effect relationships between the strategy BSC measures for NPD projects based on strategy map and presents a BSC-ANP model to evaluate the strategic fit of projects. The causal relationships and interdependencies between projects and criteria are integrated with ANP model to produce the final priorities of projects with respect to their strategic fit. The proposed model was tested against empirical data drawn from NPD projects in an automobile company.

A stabilizing controller designed without considering quantization may not be effectively implemented for the systems with quantized information due to quantization errors . Hence, an interesting issue is how to design the quantizer such that the desired system performance can be still attained by the above controller. In this work, a new control strategy with on-line updating the quantizer’s parameter is proposed. This scheme may ensure the controlled system to attain the same dynamic performance, H ∞ disturbance attenuation level, as the one without signal quantization. A practical adjusting rule on quantizer’s parameter is proposed such that the state-dependent parameter is available on both sides of encoder/decoder. Finally, some numerical examples have been provided to illustrate the present control scheme.

In this paper, the containment control problem is studied for the cooperative output regulation of linear multi-agent systems(MASs). The output regulation problem initiated from single-leader-follower region is extended to the multi-leaders-follower region. The purpose of this paper is to design a containment control algorithm such that all the followers can move into the convex hull formed by the leaders. A sufficient and necessary condition in term of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) is derived for the existence of a containment controller protocol that guarantees the followers are capable to follow the trail of leader and the output error will converge to zero with the time elapsing. Then, a controller design procedure is given to construct the feedback gain matrix and select the proper gain matrix for achieving final consensus of the MASs. Compared with the existing algorithms, the proposed one requires less information and calculation of the velocities measurement of the agents. Finally, a numerical example is illustrated to show the usefulness of the designed containment controller.

This paper studies the state feedback stabilization of LTI plants over wireless block-fading channels. The packet-loss rate of each channel depends on power level and packet length used for transmission as well as channel power gain. Different from the case of fixed packet-loss rate, the packet-loss rate considered in this paper is random and time-varying as the channel power gain is so for wireless communication. When power level and packet length are assumed to be time-invariant for every transmission at each channel, necessary and sufficient conditions for mean square stabilizability via state feedback are given in terms of the unstable poles of the plant. The performance defined as the asymptotic mean square norm of the system state is also discussed for the scalar case.

Robust attitude decentralized tracking control problem for a 3-DOF helicopter is investigated. The model of the 3-DOF helicopter is described as a MIMO strict-feedback form system with unknown parameters, bounded disturbances, nonlinear uncertain coupling effects and unknown input-delay. A new design method based on signal compensation technique and back-stepping strategy is proposed. Based on the signal compensation method, at each backstepping design step, a robust controller consists of a nominal controller and a robust compensator. Robust practical tracking stability condition is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
