This article focuses on dynamic event-triggered mechanism(DETM)-based model predictive control(MPC) for T-S fuzzy systems.A hybrid dynamic variables-dependent DETM is carefully devised,which includes a multiplicative dynamic variable and an additive dynamic *** addressed DETM-based fuzzy MPC issue is described as a “min-max” optimization problem(OP).To facilitate the co-design of the MPC controller and the weighting matrix of the DETM,an auxiliary OP is proposed based on a new Lyapunov function and a new robust positive invariant(RPI) set that contain the membership functions and the hybrid dynamic variables.A dynamic event-triggered fuzzy MPC algorithm is developed accordingly,whose recursive feasibility is analysed by employing the RPI *** the designed controller,the involved fuzzy system is ensured to be asymptotically *** examples show that the new DETM and DETM-based MPC algorithm have the advantages of reducing resource consumption while yielding the anticipated performance.

An automated pulmonary parenchyma segmentation method based on an improved region growing algorithm in PET-CT imaging

To address the incomplete problem in pulmonary parenchyma segmentation based on the traditional methods, a novel automated segmentation method based on an eight- neighbor region growing algorithm with left-right scanning and four-corner rotating and scanning is proposed in this pa- per. The proposed method consists of four main stages： image binarization, rough segmentation of lung, image denoising and lung contour refining. First, the binarization of images is done and the regions of interest are extracted. After that, the rough segmentation of lung is performed through a general region growing method. Then the improved eight-neighbor region growing is used to remove noise for the upper, mid- dle, and bottom region of lung. Finally, corrosion and ex- pansion operations are utilized to smooth the lung boundary. The proposed method was validated on chest positron emis- sion tomography-computed tomography （PET-CT） data of 30 cases from a hospital in Shanxi, China. Experimental results show that our method can achieve an average volume overlap ratio of 96.21 ± 0.39% with the manual segmentation results. Compared with the existing methods, the proposed algorithm segments the lung in PET-CT images more efficiently and ac- curately.

A population randomization-based multi-objective genetic algorithm for gesture adaptation in human-robot interaction

In recent years, vision-based gesture adaptation has attracted great attention from many experts in the field of human-robot interaction, and many methods have been proposed and successfully applied, such as particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithm. However, the reduction of the error and energy consumption of a robot while paying attention to more subtle attitude changes is very important and *** view of these problems, we propose a population randomization-based multi-objective genetic *** gesture signal is processed with a slight change by imitating the biological evolution mechanisms. In the proposed algorithm, a random out-of-order matrix is added in the process of population evolution synthesis to prevent the premature grouping convergence of the new population. The weights of the objective function and the elite retention strategy are adopted, and the most adaptable individuals in each generation are inherited directly in the next generation without any recombination or mutation. To verify the effectiveness of the algorithm, preliminary application experiments are performed on the gesture adaptation of a robotic arm. The results are compared with the original signal, and the comparison shows that by using the proposed method, the energy consumption is reduced, and the end error is decreased to less than 3 mm while ensuring the tracking effect of the robotic arm. These obtained results meet the communication requirements for human-robot interactions such as handshakes. Moreover, the proposed method has better performance, uses less energy, and has a smaller tracking error than the particle swarm optimization, the single-objective genetic algorithm, and the traditional multi-objective genetic algorithm. A preliminary application experiment indicates that the robotic arm can adapt to human gestures in real time.

Development of electric cart for improving walking ability — application of control theory to assistive technology

This paper explains the development of an electric cart that helps the elderly maintain or improve their physical strength. Unlike commercially available ones, it has a pedal unit that provides some exercise for a user in training his lower limbs. An impedance model describes the feeling of pushing the pedals. The largest pedal load is determined based on a pedaling experiment. An H∞ controller is designed for each of the largest pedal load and virtually no load. A control law, which is based on the concept of dynamic parallel distributed compensation, is designed using the rating of perceived exertion of a driver as a criterion to choose a pedal load between the largest and almost zero. Five university students and twelve elderly people participated experiments to verify the system design and the validity of the system.

Signal Fading Suppression in Ф-OTDR Based on EMD-GAN

Objective In phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometers (Ф‑OTDRs), coherent and polarization fading caused by inherent destructive interference and polarization mismatch, affect phase restoration performance. Traditional signal fading suppression methods typically require additional hardware structures, which increases system complexity and cost. Moreover, vibration signals are non- stationary with complex frequency components, which further increases the fading suppression challenge. Therefore, it is of paramount significance to investigate a novel signal fading suppression method to achieve accurate phase reconstruction on the simplest structure in scientific research and engineering applications. Methods In this study, the random signal fading process in Ф- OTDR is analyzed, and it is confirmed that the fading point phase is a random noise value that follows uniform distribution. Using the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) algorithm, phase noise including phase accumulation noise and laser frequency drift is filtered out and phase information modulated by external vibration is extracted. The extracted phase data are subsequently organized into a two-dimensional space-time map, which are input into a generative adversarial network (GAN) to realize the repair of the fading data. The GAN training dataset, which is generated using software simulation, contains a total of 12000 images including the phase spectra of sinusoidal, square, and triangular wave vibration signals, Gaussian pulse vibration signal, and random vibration signal. Results and Discussions Experiments are designed as follows. The total length of the sensing fiber is 10.12 km, which is connected by three sections of single-mode fibers of 4.17, 1.92, and 3.95 km in length, respectively. A piezoelectric ceramic (PZT) is connected between each section of fiber and driven by the signal generator to produce the required vibration signal. Equivalent input disturbance-based load frequency control for smart grid with air conditioning loads

Integrating intermittent wind power into power systems results in low or zero inertia, threatening their frequency stability. To accommodate intermittent generations, the demand response(DR) is introduced, and air conditioning loads(ACs) account for an increasing proportion of all loads. The replacement of traditional generators with wind turbines and the ACs user uncertainties produce parameter uncertainties. This paper aims to construct an equivalent input disturbance(EID)-based load frequency control(LFC) strategy for the power system by considering wind power and ACs. First, an open-loop model is constructed for the LFC scheme with parameter uncertainties. Then, the parameter uncertainties and external disturbance are lumped into a fictitious disturbance, which is estimated using an EID *** incorporating the estimation of disturbance into the control input, the disturbance-rejection performance is achieved. Next, the Lyapunov theory is used to derive the two linear-matrix-inequality-based asymptotic stability criteria. A design algorithm is developed for the EID-based LFC scheme by exploiting an overall performance evaluation index. Finally, simulation results for the single-area and two-area LFC schemes show that, compared with the existing approaches, the method presented realizes the better disturbance rejection and higher robustness against parameter uncertainties, wind power fluctuation, and tie-line power ***, its robustness to time delays is verified.

Distributed Solver for Discrete-Time Lyapunov Equations over Dynamic Networks with Linear Convergence Rate

The problem of solving discrete-Time Lyapunov equations (DTLEs) is investigated over multiagent network systems, where each agent has access to its local information and communicates with its neighbors. To obtain a solution to DTLE, a distributed algorithm with uncoordinated constant step sizes is proposed over time-varying topologies. The convergence properties and the range of constant step sizes of the proposed algorithm are analyzed. Moreover, a linear convergence rate is proved and the convergence performances over dynamic networks are verified by numerical simulations. © 2013 IEEE.

In this paper,a stochastic linear quadratic optimal tracking scheme is proposed for unknown linear discrete-time(DT)systems based on adaptive dynamic programming(ADP)***,an augmented system composed of the original system and the command generator is constructed and then an augmented stochastic algebraic equation is derived based on the augmented ***,to obtain the optimal control strategy,the stochastic case is converted into the deterministic one by system transformation,and then an ADP algorithm is proposed with convergence *** the purpose of realizing the ADP algorithm,three back propagation neural networks including model network,critic network and action network are devised to guarantee unknown system model,optimal value function and optimal control strategy,***,the obtained optimal control strategy is applied to the original stochastic system,and two simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
