With the development of technology, parallel mobile robots have been paid more attention in various industries due to the strong load capacity, high running stability and rapid response speed. However, step-length optimization is an important but challenging task for this kind of mobile robot. Step length has dramatic effect on the stability of robot and the performance of electric cylinder. Balancing the speed characteristics and stability margin, we propose a genetic algorithm to solve this problem and design a novel fitness function that can measure the motion characteristics of parallel mobile robot. Effectiveness of our method is verified by experiments.

Color-tunable Ca10Na(PO4)7：Ce^3＋/Tb^3＋/Mn^2＋ phosphor via energy transfer

A series of Ca10Na(PO4)7:Ce3+/Tb3+/Mn2+(CNPO:Ce3+/Tb3+/Mn2+) phosphors with high brightness were synthesized by high-temperature solid-state method. X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), diffuse reflectance spectra(DRS), photo luminescence(PL) spectra, luminescence decay curves and thermally stability were performed to characterize the as-prepared samples. For Ce3+-doped samples, an intense and broad band emission is present under 265 nm excitation. When Ce3+and Tb3+are codoped, energy transfer(ET) process from Ce3+ to Tb3+ is demonstrated with electric dipole-dipole interaction. The internal and external quantum efficiencies(QEs) of CNPO:0.15 Ce3+, 0.04 Tb3+, 0.005 Mn2+are measured to 76.79% and 54.11% under 265 nm excitation and temperature-dependent PL intensity can remain 51.78% at 150 ℃ of its initial intensity at 25 ℃. It is indicated that single-phased white lightemitting CNPO:Ce3+/Tb3+/Mn2+phosphor can serve as a promising phosphor for illumination devices.

Spherical interpolated convolutional network with distance-feature density for 3D semantic segmentation of point clouds

The semantic segmentation of point clouds is an important part of the environment perception for robots. However, it is difficult to directly adopt the traditional 3D convolution kernel to extract features from raw 3D point clouds because of the unstructured property of point clouds. In this paper, a spherical interpolated convolution operator is proposed to replace the traditional grid-shaped 3D convolution operator. This newly proposed feature extraction operator improves the accuracy of the network and reduces the parameters of the network. In addition, this paper analyzes the defect of point cloud interpolation methods based on the distance as the interpolation weight and proposes the self-learned distance-feature density by combining the distance and the feature correlation. The proposed method makes the feature extraction of spherical interpolated convolution network more rational and effective. The effectiveness of the proposed network is demonstrated on the 3D semantic segmentation task of point clouds. Experiments show that the proposed method achieves good performance on the ScanNet dataset and Paris-Lille-3D dataset. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, the performance of wavelet transform on the detection and location of pipeline leak are explored. The effects of three wavelets on different thresholds and different decomposition layers are studied. Firstly, the UWB(Ultra Wideband) chaotic signal generated by Colpittscircuit is used as the signal detection signal, and the leak point of the pipeline is detected and located by analyzing the cross-correlation coefficient between the detection signal and the echo signal after the pipeline reflection. Because there are some questions such as how to choose the optimal threshold function, wavelets and optimal number of decomposed layers, three wavelet thresholds (hard threshold, soft threshold and given threshold)which has different signal-To-noise ratio (5dB, 10dB, 30dB) are used in signal threshold denoising. The paper explores the denoising effects of three wavelets(sym4, db4, Haar) after three, four and five wavelet decomposition, and finally gets the optimal threshold method, wavelet function and decomposition layer. This is important to achieve high-precision detection and location of water pipeline leak. © 2018 IEEE.

High-speed physical key distribution is diligently pursued for secure communication. In this paper, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a scheme of high-speed key distribution using mode-shift keying chaos synchronization between two multi-longitudinal-mode Fabry–Perot lasers commonly driven by a super-luminescent diode. Legitimate users dynamically select one of the longitudinal modes according to private control codes to achieve mode-shift keying chaos synchronization. The two remote chaotic light waveforms are quantized to generate two raw random bit streams, and then those bits corresponding to chaos synchronization are sifted as shared keys by comparing the control codes. In this method, the transition time, i.e., the chaos synchronization recovery time is determined by the rising time of the control codes rather than the laser transition response time, so the key distribution rate is improved greatly. Our experiment achieved a 0.75-Gbit/s key distribution rate with a bit error rate of 3.8 × 10-3 over 160-km fiber transmission with dispersion compensation. The entropy rate of the laser chaos is evaluated as 16 Gbit/s, which determines the ultimate final key rate together with the key generation ratio. It is therefore believed that the method pays a way for Gbit/s physical key distribution. © 2020, CC0.

Compound nonlinear energy sink with multiple motion types for absorbing energy from wide excitation ranges

Nonlinear energy sink (NES) has garnered significant attention since its inception due to its notable broadband vibration reduction capability. However, the introduction of strong nonlinear characteristics by NESs complicates system responses, leading to a loss of effectiveness when the excitation force exceeds a specific threshold. Consequently, NESs have limited applicability in engineering because they are effective only within a constrained range of excitation amplitude. In this study, a compound NES (CNES) with multiple motion types is designed to extend the effective force range while maintaining broadband vibration reduction capability. The CNES is distinguished by its piecewise stiffness, collision mechanisms, and unique design of two-degree-of-freedom oscillators. The wide effective range of the CNES is demonstrated through slow linear sweep and fixed-frequency tests. The results indicate that the CNES effectively reduces vibrations in the primary oscillator (PO) with various resonant frequencies. Notably, the CNES achieves significant vibration reduction over a particularly wide range of excitation amplitude when controlling the PO with relatively high resonance frequencies (approximately 10.5 Hz and 19 Hz). However, a nonnegligible limitation of the CNES is its restricted effective range of excitation amplitude when the PO resonates at lower frequency (approximately 7 Hz). Moreover, five motion types of the CNES are identified and analyzed, with one motion type autonomously emerging in response to changes in excitation parameters, ensuring excellent vibration reduction performance across a wide excitation range. Finally, the performance of the CNES and a degraded single-degree-of-freedom CNES are compared to further demonstrate the extension effect of the multiple motion types on the effective range. The CNES can be used in scenarios where the parameters of protected systems and excitations vary widely, providing a thought to improve the NESs.

The demand for lightweight vehicles that achieve energy conservation and emission reduction continues to grow. Aluminum alloys were commonly applied to the automotive industry to reduce the structural quality of the entire vehicle. However, the cost of aluminum alloy was higher than that of steel, so the industry considered the use of aluminum in combination with low-cost materials such as steel. Traditional welding technology was limited by the great physical difference between aluminum alloy and steel. Friction Stir Welding, a solid phase welding technology, can overcome the connection problem of aluminum and its alloys with steel, but the process parameters of FSW directly affect the welding quality. This paper established the FSW process of two different metals of DC05 and AL6061. Aimed to get a good welding joint, the error of tool speed is reduced by fuzzy PID system established in this paper, and the tool speed is controlled stably. Simulink simulation was established, and compared with the simulation results, fuzzy PID control can control the precision and stability of the tool speed of FSW, improve the welding quality, and provide a certain theoretical basis for the tool speed control.

Fabry-perot lasers as enablers for parallel reservoir computing

We introduce the use of Fabry-Perot (FP) lasers as potential neuromorphic computing machines with parallel processing capabilities. With the use of optical injection between a master FP laser and a slave FP laser under feedback we demonstrate the potential for scaling up the processing power at longitudinal mode granularity and perform real-time processing for signal equalization in 25 Gbaud intensity modulation direct detection optical communication systems. We demonstrate the improvement of classification performance as the number of nodes increases and the capability of simultaneous processing of arbitrary data streams. Extensive numerical simulations show that up to 8 longitudinal modes in typical Fabry-Perot lasers can be leveraged so as to enhance classification performance. Copyright © 2020, The Authors.
