According to the idea of "Emerging Engineering Education" talent training model of Ministry of Education, students should be trained to have "metaphysical" concept, connection, imagination, macro thinking. Project-driven experiment teaching focuses on a project, and the goal is the completion of the project; the student is the center of teaching activities, which is supported by the inquiry process. This study analyzes the significance of the project-driven method in experimental teaching. This paper describes the implementation process of experimental teaching in the field of energy and power engineering in terms of project design, teaching system construction and so on under the project-driven method. By analyzing the results of a questionnaire survey distributed to students of energy and power in the College of Mechanical Engineering at the Tianjin University of Technology, it is found that the students are satisfied with the effects of project-driven experimental teaching, and the use of experimental teaching has greatly aroused the students' enthusiasm for learning. The ability of the students to engage in autonomous learning, engineering practice and innovation has been greatly improved, and a good teaching effect has been achieved.

Even if the exact motor parameters are known, the MTPA strategy cannot obtain precise maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) points under large current amplitude because the partial derivative of inductance to current is ignored in the modeling process. In view of this, the MTPA mathematical model considering the partial derivative of inductance to current is established in this paper, and the MTPA point tracking error caused by ignoring the partial derivative in the modeling process based on Ferrari method is analyzed. Then, an offline-online combined method for calculating the partial derivative term is proposed to compensate the MTPA tracking error. On this basis, an MTPA control strategy based on Ferrari method considering the partial derivative of inductance to current is proposed. Experiment to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Multiwavelength Brillouin Erbium fiber laser with ultra-narrow bandwidth filter is used as a temperature sensor. It has less than 10~(-3) ℃ resolution at the 3rd-order Stokes in the short term. 3.104 MHz/℃ sensitivity of the 3rd-order Stokes wavelength are demonstrated, which is three times that of the 1st-order Stokes wavelength. A less than 0.2 ℃ temperature error is obtained for every Stokes wavelength. This proposal can provide a feasible temperature sensing scheme with high sensitivity, high precision and low frequency detection.

This study presents a novel microwave humidity sensor that utilizes a complementary interdigital capacitor resonator (CIDCR), an advanced design derived from the traditional complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) structure. The CIDCR design enhances the sensor's performance by concentrating the electric field in a more compact region, leading to improved sensitivity and miniaturization. The sensor is coated with a composite film of chitosan (CS) and polyacrylamide-glycerol (PAMG), combining the high moisture sensitivity of PAMG with the stability of CS. The CIDCR-based sensor demonstrates superior performance, including high sensitivity, a broad detection range, rapid response/recovery times, and excellent long-term stability. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further elucidate the moisture-sensitive mechanisms at the molecular level, highlighting the role of hydrogen bonding in the composite film. Application tests confirm the sensor's potential for use in respiratory monitoring, non-contact sensing, and health monitoring, showcasing the advantages of the CIDCR structure in achieving enhanced humidity sensing capabilities. © 2024, The Authors. Protic ionic liquids (PILs) have emerged as innovative solvents with significant potential for CO2 capture and transformation, presenting a sustainable alternative to conventional methods which often involve energy-intensive processes or environmentally detrimental chemicals. Herein, a novel strategy for CO2 capture and conversion at mild conditions using non-stoichiometric protic ionic liquids (NPILs) was demonstrated for the first time. These NPILs, employed as sorbents, solvents, and catalysts, were composed of imidazole (Im) and 1,8-diazabicyclo [5.4.0] undec-7-ene (DBU) in various ratios. Correlations between the mole ratio of DBU/Im and physicochemical properties such as viscosity, conductivity, thermal stability, and the distribution of neutral and ionic species were systematically investigated. Effects of the absorption temperature and CO2 partial pressure on the absorption capacity were also studied. Different absorption mechanisms, including carbonate and carbamate pathways, were analyzed using FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy. Moreover, the fixed CO2 could be catalytically converted to quinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-diones under exceptionally mild reaction conditions (1atm, 50 °C, metal-free process). A plausible reaction mechanism involving simultaneous CO2 activation and substrate activation for the transformation of CO2 into quinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-diones was verified through NMR spectra. It is believed that the new insights into the CO2 mechanism will facilitate the rationaldesign of functional ionic liquids for CO2 capture, utilization, and storage in the future. © 2024, The Authors. The concentrated solar power generation system with supercritical CO 2 as working medium has high cycle efficiency, which can effectively reduce the volume of heat exchange equipment and reduce the investment cost. However, there is no systematic comparative study on the effect of tube structure on the performance of supercritical CO 2 , but the structure of tubes has a significant effect on the heat transfer performance of supercritical CO 2 , so it is necessary to study it. In this contribution, we firstly analyze the effects of different structures of tubes on the performance of supercritical CO 2 . Then, we design a novel alternative elliptical twisted tube. Finally, we further analyze the effects of the novel tube on the heat transfer performance of supercritical CO 2 by using the field synergy principle. Altered cyclic loading may change the mechanical properties, further inducing damage to articular cartilage. In this study, we studied the biaxial cyclic loading behavior of knee articular cartilage and analyzed the changes of microstructure at fibril level. Firstly, the in-plane biaxial cyclic behaviors of cartilage were investigated with an emphasis on the effects of loading paths to account for complicated loading states in daily activities. The results show that the strain evolution in X-direction is obviously affected by the constraints in Y-direction (orthogonal direction). The loading path has a great influence on the biaxial mean strain, while due to no constraint and the largest stress constraint in Y direction, proportional loading path and uniaxial loading path show the highest and lowest mean strain in X-direction, respectively. Subsequently, the effects of stress amplitude and stress peak holding time on mean strain were probed under square path. It was found that the mean strain of cartilage increases with the increase of stress amplitude or peak stress holding time. In addition, to reveal the inherent deformation mechanism, the collagen fibrils networks before and after biaxial cyclic loading were analyzed. The rearrangement of collagen fibrils networks is related to the stress state of cartilage. Larger stress leads to severer fiber damage in cartilage. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Soft pneumatic actuators (SPAs) have demonstrated the ability to generate contraction, expansion, and bending strokes in three-dimensional space during pressurization. Gripper composed of SPAs are expected to serve as end effectors to improve the adaptability and lightweight of mobile robots in complex environments. In this study, a soft robotic claw inspired by the zygodactyl structure of parrot feet is developed featuring pneu-net actuators with oblique air chambers. These chambers enable bending and twisting movements, ensuring effective contact with the cylindrical landing objects. Integration of a thin steel sheet as the strain limiting layer not only improves static stability, but also augments the output force by approximately 57%, significantly ameliorating the claw’s gripping strength. Comparative gripping tests on diverse everyday items, indicate that while soft claw with vertical chambers adeptly handle centrosymmetric objects, whose with oblique chambers excel at at securing objects with large diameters, making them particularly suitable for perching applications on unmanned aerial vehicles. Moreover, enhancing the actuators with a uniformly soft surface texture, approximately 1.8 mm in height, notably increases friction force, thereby improving grip and stability. Comprehensive static stability assessments on birch logs confirmed its effective gripping and perching capabilities. The proposed soft claw has certain application prospects in situations that require flexible operation and complex grasping tasks due to its lightweight, flexibility, and strong adaptability. © 2024, The Authors. Augmented reality (AR) technology is a cutting technology. It can enhance the perception of reality and provide more information of the real world. AR technology is used in many fields, like medical, industry, and education. In this paper, AR is introduced into engineering drawing course. Engineering drawing course is difficult to learn as it is a knowledge that students rarely contact with. To have a close contact with the models and the views, a convenient AR application (AR app) is proposed in the paper. With the help of the AR app, virtual models and real views are combined well. The models can be moved and rotated by touching the screen. Some videos of model assembly and disassembly can be obtained when scanning the quick response code (QR code). Thus, it is convenient for students to use mobile phone to study engineering drawing effectively. The interactive teaching environment enhances students' spatial thinking and cultivates their sense of innovation.
