Consensus of Linear Multi-agent systems with Pure Relative Output Through Fully Distributed Reduced-Order Protocols

This paper considers fully distributed adaptive control for linear multi-agent systems with pure relative output information only. Two reduced-order protocols, namely, an edge-based protocol and a node-based protocol, are derived. For the edge-based protocol, each edge is adapted by a coupling weight which depends only on relative output information of the associated two agents, while the coupling weight in the node-based protocol is based on the relative output information of all neighboring agents. Sufficient conditions for the solvability of the consensus problem under the two protocols are derived. Compared with most of the existing related protocols, the main merits of the protocols are that only relative output information is needed, which helps reduce the communication burdens and protect the multi-agent systems from network attacks, and that the protocols are fully distributed. A simulation example is finally presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed protocols.

Efficient power transmission system restoration after natural disasters contributes to power system resilience enhancement and reliable power energy supply. The destruction of cyber and physical equipment caused by natural disasters leads to complex and unpredictable power outages. To deal with power outages with cyber and physical equipment damage, an online collaborative decision-making method coordinating damage repair and restoration dispatch is proposed for rapid power transmission system restoration. Reinforcement learning and mathematical programming are combined to realize domain knowledge-guided intelligent search for effective decision-making. Firstly, a collaborative decision-making framework is established to guide online coordination between damage repair and restoration dispatch for the unified goal of resilience enhancement. Secondly, to make damage repair plans based on real-time information, an online decision-making method combining Monte Carlo tree search with mixed-integer linear programming is proposed considering the influence of damage repair on restoration dispatch. Thirdly, to make restoration dispatch plans based on real-time information, model predictive control is adopted for online rolling optimization of restoration dispatch, which considers the change of cyber and physical equipment status caused by damage repair. Finally, simulation results of the New England 10-unit 39-bus test system and a practical transmission system in China demonstrate that the collaborative decision-making method can make power transmission system restoration plans by juggling the restoration efficiency and computation speed and deal with uncertain repair emergencies by online step-by-step decision-making. © 2024, The Authors. This study addresses the motion control issues of a guiding quadruped robot and proposes a novel data-driven approach for blind path recognition and tracking. The proposed approach consists of two parts, including blind path recognition and robot tracking control. In terms of visual principles, the guiding quadruped robot identifies blind paths based on color using the Otsu threshold segmentation algorithm, combined with Canny edge detection and Hough transform for precise positioning of the blind path. Next, this study presents a model-free adaptive control method utilizing a dynamic linearization technique to follow the identified blind path. The controller is configured with a pseudo partial derivative (PPD) parameter. The proposed method enables accurate recognition and tracking of blind paths by the robot, thereby achieving precise following of blind paths by the guiding quadruped robot. The control aspect of the proposed method relies on a model-free strategy, eliminating the requirement to establish an exact mathematical model of the guiding robot during the controller design process. Instead, the controller can be achieved solely using input and output data of the robot. The proposed method was applied to a real guiding quadruped robot experimental platform, and the experimental results demonstrated a 96.24% accuracy in blind path recognition and an average deviation angle of 0.17 degree in tracking control. The effectiveness of this approach has been validated.

A New Image Quality Database for Multiple Industrial Processes

Recent years have witnessed a broader range of applications of image processing technologies in multiple industrial processes, such as smoke detection, security monitoring, and workpiece inspection. Different kinds of distortion types and levels must be introduced into an image during the processes of acquisition, compression, transmission, storage, and display, which might heavily degrade the image quality and thus strongly reduce the final display effect and clarity. To verify the reliability of existing image quality assessment methods, we establish a new industrial process image database (IPID), which contains 3000 distorted images generated by applying different levels of distortion types to each of the 50 source images. We conduct the subjective test on the aforementioned 3000 images to collect their subjective quality ratings in a well-suited laboratory environment. Finally, we perform comparison experiments on IPID database to investigate the performance of some objective image quality assessment algorithms. The experimental results show that the state-of-the-art image quality assessment methods have difficulty in predicting the quality of images that contain multiple distortion types. Two sparse adaptive filtering (AF) algorithms based on Andrew's sine estimator (ASE) are presented to achieve improved performance for identifying sparse systems, where the ASE is derived within the least-square framework. Furthermore, zero-attracting (ZA) scheme is used in ASE to construct ZA-ASE and its re-weighting form (RZA-ASE) to combat non-Gaussian noises and use the sparse characteristics of the system. Their performance is investigated via simulations and compared with the least-mean square (LMS) and the maximum correntropy criterion (MCC) algorithms to show their superior performance. © 2022 IEEE.

In order to guarantee the frequency security and stability of the power system with high proportional of wind generation, virtual inertia control techniques are gradually being promoted and applied. However, there is still a lack of methods and techniques to accurately estimate the equivalent virtual inertia of wind farms in real time, which makes it difficult to quantitatively evaluate the effect of virtual inertia control and to dynamically monitor the inertia level of power systems. Therefore, in this paper, an AR model with eXogenous input is applied to the time-varying characteristics of the virtual inertia of wind farm, and a recursive least squares identification algorithm based on a fuzzy control algorithm with an adaptive forgetting factor is proposed to estimate the virtual inertia of wind farms online. The proposed identification model and solution algorithm have superior tracking ability and good convergence. All that is required is to obtain perturbation data on the frequency and active power of the point of common coupling from the phasor measurement unit. A case study is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2022 IEEE.

3D Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) is an important part of the unmanned vehicle perception module. Most methods optimize object detection and data association independently. These methods make the network structure complicated and limit the improvement of MOT accuracy. we proposed a 3D MOT framework based on simultaneous optimization of object detection and scene flow estimation. In the framework, a detection-guidance scene flow module is proposed to relieve the problem of incorrect inter-frame assocation. For more accurate scene flow label especially in the case of motion with rotation, a box-transformation-based scene flow ground truth calculation method is proposed. Experimental results on the KITTI MOT dataset show competitive results over the state-of-the-arts and the robustness under extreme motion with rotation. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

Based on the background of photovoltaic development in the whole county and the demand for energy storage on the user-side, this paper establishes an economic evaluation model of user-side photovoltaic energy storage system considering shared energy storage. Firstly, three schemes of no energy storage, independent energy storage and shared energy storage are proposed, and the influence of photovoltaic energy storage system loss on annual power generation is considered. Secondly, based on the whole life cycle theory, the cost and benefit model of the user-side photovoltaic energy storage system is established, and the unit electricity cost of the user is used as the evaluation index. Finally, the relevant data of user in Hubei area are analyzed as an example to verify the effectiveness of the model and provide reference for the investment of related projects. © 2023 IEEE.
