Visual object tracking is a fundamental research topic in computer vision. In this paper, we proposed a novel hybrid tracking method based on Pulse Coupled Neural Network (PCNN) and Multiple Instance Learning (MIL). Most modern trackers may be inaccurate when the training samples are imprecise which causes drift. To resolve these problems, MIL method is introduced into the tracking task, which can alleviate drift to some extent. However, the MIL tracker may detect the positive sample that is less important. PCNN is different from traditional artificial neural networks, which can be applied in many image processing fields, such as image segmentation. So, the PCNN was employed as sample detector which can know the most important sample when training the classifier. Then, a more robust and much faster tracker is proposed to approximately maximize the bag likelihood function. Empirical results on a large set of sequences demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed approach in robustness, stability and efficiency to state-of-the-art methods in the literature.

Investigation on hole mobility of FeCl3-doped 4, 4'-bis(carbazol-9-yl) -biphenyl by using space-charge-limited current model

A series of single hole devices are designed based on the different concentrations of FeCl3 doped in 4, 4'-Bis(9H-carbazol-9-yl)biphenyl (CBP). The hole mobilities of p-type doped CBP by FeCl3 with various doping concentrations are estimated by using space-charge-limited current model, and compared with the mobility of NPB which is a kind of hole transport material commonly used in organic electroluminescence devices. The results indicate that FeCl3 doped CBP has significantly improved hole mobility. The highest hole mobility is achieved when the concentration of FeCl3 is 12%. For an electric field of 0.5 MV/cm, the estimated hole mobility of FeCl3-doped CBP with doping concentration of 12% reaches 4.5×10-5 cm2/V · s. Even in zero electric field, the hole mobility can reach 2.2×10-5 cm2/V · s, which is nearly four times of that of NPB. High efficiency organic light-emitting device is fabricated by using CBP: 12% FeCl3 as the hole transport layer. The device shows a maximum luminance of 68468 cd/m2 and a maximum current efficiency of 31.1 cd/A, which are increased by 97% and 23% compared with those of the reference device, respectively. The improvements are attributed to the balanced charge carrier transport characteristic, which results in an increased charge carrier recombination probability and a decreased triplet-polaron (T-P) annihilation probability.

With rapid increase of wind power installed capacity, the operation mode of power system has changed greatly, it is necessary to include modeling and simulation based on wind turbines and farms. Numerical simulation plays a unique role in power system operation and control, and its accuracy turns out to be the focus of electric industry. PSASP and PSS/E, as two main sorts of simulation analysis software at home and abroad respectively, both enable wind turbines electromechanical transient simulation. In this paper, Detailed comparisons are made between Doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) in PSS/E and PSASP. Finally, simulative results of power system including the models are compared and analyzed.

The Thevenin equivalent circuit parameters for the upstream system seen at a load bus plays an important role in the power system operation and planning. In order to accurately estimate the Thevenin equivalent parameters for the upstream supply system, an estimation method not requiring synchronized measurement is used in this paper. The characteristics of the probability curves of load voltage and impedance fluctuations have been analyzed, based on which the data selection criteria has been established. The field measurement data from different substations are processed by the proposed methods, and abnormal data has been filtered out in order to increase the accuracy of the estimated parameters. The validity and accuracy of the proposed method has been verified by both the simulation and field measurement data.

As the regulating range is limited in the real-time dispatch, the security improvement is more prominent than the economic improvement for the real-time dispatch. Based on the preemptive goal programming and the steady-state security region estimation methods, this paper proposed a model for the real-time dispatch, in which the base-points and the participation factors of the AGC (Automatic Generation control) units are co-optimized. The model has two goals. One is to maximize the ability of the power system to depress the load disturbances by maximizing the overlap region of the steady-state security region and the load variation region (named as the effective steady-state security region). The other one is to minimize the operating costs including the generation costs and the reserve costs. By setting the first goal as the preemptive goal, the economic dispatch results are obtained with respected to the maximized effective steady-state security region. Numerical tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

To achieve the accurate measurement of the hydraulic valve opening position, two different measurement circuits were designed respectively for two-coil and three-coil differential solenoid inductance displacement sensors. Compared the pros and cons of their static and dynamic performances. The peripheral measurement circuit based on the AD698 was improved, so as to enhance the sensitivity of displacement detection. The different sensor measurement circuits were tested to compare the static output characteristics of these two types of sensors. The experimental results show that AD698 sensor measurement circuit is featured with small nonlinear error, high repeatability, and low hysteresis error. Sensitivity varies with the range of the measurement. When the sensor measuring ranges of conditions are defined, it is appropriate to increase sensitivity. In Valvistor hydraulic cartridge valve system, AD698 measurement circuit would be used to test the real-time dynamic detection. When the system pressure is maintained constant, the valve opening size influences the response speed of the sensor measuring circuit. The greater the pressure valve, the faster the dynamic response of the valve. The relationship between main valve displacement and flow rate is also detected in these experiments.

Nonlinear dynamics of a semiconductor laser subjected external optical is applied to all-optical clock division. By properly adjusting the injection conditions, the divide-by-two clock division and the divide-by-three clock division are achieved base on the period-one oscillation. The divide-by-two clock division and divide-by-three clock division can be implemented within different input signal frequency ranges: from 11.0 GHz to 20.0 GHz and from 16.5 GHz to 20.0 GHz, respectively, by adjusting the average power of the injection optical pulses. In addition, our experiment shows that the phase noise of the divided clock signals is below -100 dBc/Hz. The division process can be controlled by the power and the wavelength detuning of the injected optical pulses. A large locking range of 1.0GHz is measured in second clock division, and 1.8GHz is measured in third clock division. © 2014. The authors - Published by Atlantis Press.

Obstacle avoidance path planning for six-DOF manipulator based on voronoi diagram

In order to solve obstacle avoidance for manipulator in static environment, a method of obstacle avoidance path planning for six-DOF manipulator based on the Configuration space (C-space) and Voronoi diagram is proposed in this paper. Obstacles in the workspace are mapped to the C-space at first. Several Voronoi cells are chosen from the obstacles and the path map based on Voronoi diagram in the C-space is generated, then the obstacle avoidance path planning from the starting point to the target point is completed. Finally, the experiment results show that compare to obstacle avoidance path planning for manipulator based on A* algorithm, this method has lower search cost and ensures manipulator keep a greater distance with obstacles.

One crucial problem for a humanoid service robot is to be able to communicate with humans naturally. This study focuses on this issue and develops a social interactive system for a humanoid robot to interact with human beings. The interactive system features hearing, voice conversation, and facial and full body emotional expression capability. Experiments are conducted on the robot to interact with humans in a real human indoor environment, and the effectiveness of the system is evaluated. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.
