Variable-speed constant-frequency (VSCF) wind farms are gradually becoming a significant proportion of generation in weak grids with constantly increasing penetration rate, and it should certainly take responsibility of the grid frequency and voltage stability. Based on the P-Q performance curve of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), by introducing static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), this paper presents a coordinated control strategy of active power and reactive power to deal with fault and load disturbance in weak grids. Simulation results show that the proposed coordinated control strategy can effectively improve the frequency and voltage stability of the grids. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

A damping control strategy to improve the dynamic characteristics based on SVGs is proposed in this paper. The shaft model, induction generator model, converter control model and angle control model of DFIG (Doubly Fed Induction Generator) are presented. The alternating voltage control model and the voltage control model of SVGs (Static Var Generation) are built, the mathematical model of the damping control module is proposed. The dynamic stability after the integration of wind farm is detailed analyzed with two-area four-machine system example and the availability of this damping control strategy is also confirmed.

Exact acquisition of load dynamic characteristic data is a problem to be settled urgently in load modeling for electric power system, since the precision of the load modeling data affects the veracity of the lo ad model directly. Considering the traditional modeling data acquisition method can't extract the load dyn amic characteristic data accurately, a method of exact acquisition of load dynamic characteristic data based on Extreme Learning Machine(ELM) is proposed in this paper. At first, virtual value of voltage, current, acti ve power and reactive power of power fault wave record data are calculated by Discrete Fourier Transform(DFT), then the relative change rate of variables are chosen as the feature vectors. At last, ELM is introduced to the classification of the load dynamic characteristic data. The simulation results show that ELM can be used to acquire load dynamic characteristic data and it has good classification accuracy. Besides, the training speed and generalization ability of ELM are superior to that of BP neural network. The method presented in this paper can extract the load dynamic characteristics data quickly and accurately, which provides a new research thinking for load dynamic characteristic data acquisition.

Trimer superfluid induced by photoassocation on the state-dependent optical lattice

We use the mean-field method, the quantum Monte Carlo method and the density-matrix-renormalization-group method to study the trimer superfluid phase and the quantum phase diagram of the Bose-Hubbard model in a one-dimensional optical lattice, with an explicit trimer-tunneling term. Theoretically, we derive the explicit trimer hopping terms, such as ai3†aj3, by the Schrieffer-Wolf transformation. In practice, the trimer superfluid described by these terms is driven by photoassociation. The phase transition between the trimer superfluid phase and other phases are also studied. Without the on-site interaction, the phase transition between the trimer superfluid phase and the Mott insulator phase is continuous. Turning on the on-site interaction, the phase transitions are first order with Mott insulators of atoms filling 1 and 2. With nonzero atom tunneling, the phase transition is first order from the atom superfluid to the trimer superfluid. In the trimer superfluid phase, the winding numbers can be divided by three without any remainder. The power-law decay exponent is 1/2 for the nondiagonal correlation ai†3aj3, i.e., the same as the exponent of the correlation ai†aj in hardcore bosons. The density-dependent atom-tunneling term ni2ai†aj and pair-tunneling term niai†2aj2 are also studied. With these terms, the phase transition from the empty phase to atom superfluid is first order and different from the cases without the density-dependent terms. The effects of finite three-body interactions and finite temperatures are also studied. Our results will be helpful in realizing the trimer superfluid by a cold-atom experiment.

Consensus in multi-agent systems means that reach an agreement among states of the whole ***,almost all the existed works on consensus have been in the description of the states of nodes,and fewer efforts have been devoted to the consensus taking place on the edges of multi-agent *** this paper,we focus on the dynamics proceed on the edges and establish a discrete-time and a continuous-time edge consensus protocols respectively for directed multi-agent *** mapping the edge topology to its line graph of the original nodal topology,we analyze the consensus of the edge protocols rigorously,and get that both the discrete-time protocol and the continuous-time protocol of directed multi-agent systems can guarantee that an edge consensus is asymptotically reached for all initial states when the original directed system is strongly *** simulations are provided to show the effectiveness of both the discrete-time and the continuous-time models.

10kV distribution network is always a neutral point ungrounded system. Single-phase line break and grounding fault frequently occurs in 10kV distribution networks, threats the safe and stable operation of power grid and damages people's lives and properties. A methodology to differentiate type of single-phase line break fault is proposed in this paper, which uses sequence network and symmetrical components method to analyze and summarize the voltage and current variation when various single-phase line break fault occurs, then draw the voltage phasor diagram and current phasor diagram. The voltage and current variation and phasor diagrams will provide criteria for the detection and identification of single-phase line break fault in ungrounded distribution networks. Simulation results show the accuracy of the theoretical analysis in this paper.

This paper discusses the potential role of large-scale solar power from desert in alleviating the energy crisis, preventing land desertification and increasing fresh water supply with a macro perspective. The measured data from NASA are used to estimate the potential amount of solar energy that can be developed from desert areas in China. A strategic conception is proposed that transmitting electrical power from integrated renewable energy bases to the eastern coastal to perform seawater desalination, pumping the freshwater to the west areas for combating desertification and mitigating the northern cities of freshwater crisis. The power for desalination and pumping water is estimated. As a huge interruptible load, the desalination and pumping systems are suggested to be used to suppress power fluctuations of integrated renewable energy bases. It is discussed and emphasized that the UHV grid plays an essential role in large-scale optimal allocation and utilization of renewable energy all around China.

Fast and stable walking is one of the important prerequisite for humanoid robots to serve the people. Pelvic rotations play a significant role when one walks fast. This paper proposes a method to generate human-like walking patterns with pelvic rotation in the transverse plane for a humanoid robot to effectively improve its quickness and stability. First, the regularities of pelvic rotation in the transverse plane during human walking are studied. Second, the mechanism design of a humanoid robot waist for pelvic rotations is presented. Then, a walking trajectory planning with pelvic rotation to improve the stability margin is proposed. Finally, the effectiveness of the method is demonstrated through simulations and experiments on BHR-5.

A robust measurement system can take account of the influence on Distribution system State Estimation (DSSE) caused by network reconfiguration. This paper proposes an optimization algorithm to determine the number and position of the measurement devices separately. The concept of measurement saturation is proposed, and the position of measurement devices is determined based on a heuristic algorithm constrained by the saturate number. Both network reconfiguration and the uncertainties introduced by the measurements are taken into account. The probabilities of different network configurations are given by Markov chain, and the uncertainties introduced by the measurements are simulated by Monte Carlo algorithm. The results obtained on IEEE33-bus system demonstrate that saturate number is usually one third of the number of nodes for a system, and the robust measurement placement method considering different network configurations can improve the precision of DSSE.
