With the increasing development of renewable energy resources in South America, to analyze "the location", "the quantity"and "the quality"of wind and solar energy resources will, not only benefit for one country on efficient resource utilization, but also promote the realization of large- scale international resource utilization and complementation. Argentina, as a major country in South America, researches on its renewable energy development is of great significance. This paper completed the renewable resources assessment through modeling and estimating the theoretical reserves, technical potential installed capacity and development cost of wind and solar energy in Argentina. Then, a more precise quantitative evaluation of development potential is given through the calculated development cost and capacity factor of technical potential installed capacity. Finally, after compared the existing power stations with the assessment results, suggestions on how to development renewable energy resources in Argentina are given. © 2021 IEEE.

This work investigates the sliding mode control (SMC) problem of T-S fuzzy systems under probabilistic saturation constraints, where the actuator input is permitted to exceed its pre-given threshold with a certain probability. One obstacle is how to integrate the probabilistic saturation constraints into stability and reachability analysis considering the special structure of sliding mode controller. To address this problem, an SMC law is firstly synthesized by utilizing the well-known parallel distributed compensation scheme. Subsequently, we propose an altered sector condition incorporating the sign function and membership functions (MFS) to deal with the saturation nonlinearities. Facilitated by an auxiliary inequality, sufficient criteria are derived towards ensuring the local stochastic stability of the closed-loop system and the reachability of the prescribed sliding surface. A broader domain of stochastic stability may be anticipated through an optimization problem. Ultimately, a simulation example validates the efficacy of the provided control method.

The problem of asymptotic tracking control for a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft system is addressed in this paper, in which unknown external disturbances and nonlinear dynamics are added. Unknown nonlinear dynamics are deal with by using neural networks, and some adaptive laws are addressed. Additionally, some control laws for unknown parameters are developed to address unknown nonlinearities resulting from the analysis process. Based on the dynamic surface control approach and neural network control, the adaptive control laws with dynamic surface method and neural network are developed for the system. The results show that the developed control laws insure that the system under consideration asymptotically follows the given desired signal, and the system's tracking errors can converge to zero. At last, a simulation case is shown to validate the effectiveness of developed control strategies.

Power Matching and Energy Efficiency Improvement of Hydraulic Excavator Driven with Speed and Displacement Variable Power Source

Mobile machinery energy efficiency and emission pollution are the national and worldwide issues. This paper contributes in solving these problems by applying a speed variable power source. Unfortunately, almost all of the speed variable systems have the dynamic response problem when the motor starts with full load or heavy load. To address this problem, a hydraulic accumulator is used to balance the load of the power source for assisting starting of the motor and a matching method combined with speed and displacement control of the pump is proposed to improve the energy efficiency and dynamic performance simultaneously under different working conditions. Also, the power source/valve combined control strategy of an independent metering system is designed to realize flow matching of the whole system. Firstly, a test system is established to study the dynamic performance and energy efficiency of the speed variable power source with an auxiliary accumulator. Working performance and energy consumption of the power source under different rotating speeds and different loads are studied. And then, the hydraulic excavator test rig with the proposed system is constructed. Furthermore, the working performance of the excavator with the speed-fixed and speed-variable strategy are studied comparatively. Results show that, compared with fixed-speed strategy, the electric power consumption during the idle period and partial load condition can be reduced about 2.05 kW and 1.37 kW. The energy efficiency of speed variable power source is about 40%-71%, which is higher than that of the fixed-speed power source by 3%–10%.

The increase in frequency and intensity of Extreme High-temperature Events(EHEs)over Central-Eastern China(CEC)in recent decades has severely impacted social development and *** observation and reanalysis datasets,this study explores the effect of the East Asian subtropical westerly jet stream(EAJ)on the CEC EHEs for the summers spanning 1979–*** its general relative location to the right side of the upper-level jet stream exit region,CEC would theoretically suffer more EHEs with a stronger and northwardly-shifted EAJ in summer due to the likelihood of abnormal subsidence induced by the ***,such an EAJ–EHE connection has been unstable over the past four decades but has displayed an evident interdecadal *** the late 1990s,the interannual variation of the EAJ was manifested mainly by its meridional displacement in the northeastern part of East Asia;thus,the atmospheric responses were essentially located to the east of CEC,exerting less of an influence on the CEC ***,since the late 1990s,the EAJ variation has featured an intensity change in its center over the northwest portion of the CEC,which has resulted in a westward shift in atmospheric responses to cover the CEC ***,the EAJ could potentially affect the summer CEC EHEs during 2000–*** findings offer support for an in-depth understanding of the formation mechanisms of extreme weather/climate events of this nature and thus provide a scientific reference for seasonal climate predictions.

An adaptive backstepping dynamic surface sliding mode controller based on nonlinear disturbance observer (NDOABSMC) is designed to track zigzag motion of underwater glider (UG). Firstly, a nonlinear disturbance observer is devised to observe ocean current. Then, the backstepping sliding mode control is used to devise motion attitude controller of UG to ensure that UG can track the target trajectory quickly. Additionally, the stability of UG's control system is analyzed. In the end, the proposed control strategy is compared with other approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

The secondary frequency modulation of the unit, that is, the automatic generation control (AGC), is the process of increasing or decreasing the power of the power generation unit by the power plant unit according to the dispatching command issued by the power grid dispatching center, and then using the frequency modulator to restore the frequency. Based on the principle of AGC, this paper establishes a frequency dynamic response model of the secondary frequency modulation of the traditional unit and the wind storage participation system including load frequency control (LFC) and traditional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers, determines the frequency modulation control strategy of wind storage, and uses the distribution mode based on Area control Error (ACE) signal to assist in the secondary frequency modulation. In order to solve the parameter optimization problem of the classical PID controller when the wind-storage combined system participates in the secondary frequency modulation under the large load disturbance, a parameter optimization model of the controller with PID was established, and the ITAE evaluation index was finally selected as the fitness function by comparing different fitness evaluation indexes. To overcome the problem that the conventional Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is prone to local extremum, the inertia weights and learning factors are adjusted nonlinearly to balance and optimize the global and local optimization capabilities and improve the search efficiency, and the parameters of the PID controller are optimized by the improved PSO algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves the secondary frequency modulation effect under the background of a high proportion of renewable energy connected to the power grid. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. With the increasing penetration of renewable energy, the urgent issue of maximizing the integration of renewable energy while meeting economy security and reliability requirements needs to be addressed. Based on the theory of admissible region, integrating models of renewable energy, energy storage systems, and demand response, this paper proposes a source-load-storage coordinated optimal scheduling model considering admissible region of net load. The model uses the generation-load transfer factors based on decoupled linearized power flow to construct power flow constraints, enabling coordinated optimization of active power, reactive power, and voltage in the power system. Uncertainty constraints in the model are transformed into deterministic constraints based on affine strategy, and the entire model is transformed into a bilinear programming model using duality theory and power circle linearization, facilitating solution using mature commercial solvers. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of the model are verified on the IEEE-RTS system.

Active thermal metasurfaces for remote heating/cooling by mimicking negative thermal conductivity

Remote temperature control can be obtained by a long-focus thermal lens that can focus heat fluxes into a spot far away from the back surface of the lens and create a virtual thermal source/sink in the background material, around which the temperature field distribution can be remotely controlled by changing the parameters of the thermal lens. However, due to the lack of negative thermal conductivity, the existing thermal lenses have extremely short focal lengths and cannot be used to remotely control the temperature field around the virtual thermal source/sink. In this study, we theoretically propose a general approach to equivalently realize negative thermal conductivity by elaborately distributed active thermal metasurface (ATMS), then use the proposed ATMS to implement a novel thermal lens with long focal length designed by transformation thermodynamics, and experimentally verify the performance of the designed long-focus thermal lens with measured focal length f=19.8mm for remote heating/cooling. The proposed method expands the scope of the thermal conductivity and open up new ways to realize unprecedented thermal effects with effective negative thermal conductivity, such as "thermal surface plasmon polaritons", thermal superlens, thermal tunneling effect, and thermal invisible gateway. As more distributed energy sources integrate into distribution networks, issues such as voltage fluctuations and reduced observability become increasingly prominent. Therefore, this paper proposes an algorithm for forecasting-aided state estimation (FASE) in virtual power plants' integrated operation management platform. Firstly, a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM)-Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) algorithm for distribution network FASE is introduced. Secondly, the integrated management of virtual power plant platforms (IM-VPPP) enhances the observability of distribution networks. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, simulations are conducted using the IEEE 33-bus standard distribution system. Results demonstrate significant advantages of the algorithm in terms of accuracy and robustness.
