Deformable image registration is crucial in medical image analysis. Recently, unsupervised methods using intensity matching have shown promising results without labeled data. However, these methods still face challenges: (1) They often encounter local optima when handling anatomical structures with significant variations in intensity distribution;(2) Time domain convolution in decoders leads to loss of high-frequency fine features, limiting the effectiveness of generating fine deformation vector fields. To address these issues, we propose a novel structure-aware and time-frequency domain interaction (STFI) network. STFI integrates a structure-aware frequency domain loss and a time-frequency domain interaction module. The former leverages principal structural information from the weighted phase spectrum to guide the registration process, thereby reducing the risk of local optima. The latter processes and amalgamates information from both the time and frequency domains, effectively preserving high-frequency details. The efficacy and adaptability of our approach have been demonstrated on two types of data, offering a new perspective on exploiting time-frequency domain information for medical image registration. © 2025, The Authors. Finite-time asynchronous dissipative filtering of conic-type nonlinear Markov jump systems

In the present study, the finite-time asynchronous dissipative filter design problem for the Markov jump systems with conic-type nonlinearity is studied. The hidden Markov model can describe the asynchronism embodied in the system modes and the filter modes reasonably. Moreover, a suitable LyapunovKrasovskii function is utilized and linear matrix inequalities are applied to obtain adequate conditions. These techniques guarantee the finite-time boundedness and strict dissipativity of the filtering error dynamic system. Furthermore, the design problems of the passive filter and the H∞ filter are studied by adjusting the three parameters U, G and V. Finally, the filter gains and the optimal index α*are obtained and the correctness and feasibility of the designed approach are verified by a simulation example.

Low-light images are commonly encountered in real-world scenarios, and numerous low-light image enhancement (LLIE) methods have been proposed to improve the visibility of these images. The primary goal of LLIE is to generate clearer images that are more visually pleasing to humans. However, the impact of LLIE methods in high-level vision tasks, such as image classification and object detection, which rely on high-quality image datasets, is not well explored. To explore the impact, we comprehensively evaluate LLIE methods on these high-level vision tasks by utilizing an empirical investigation comprising image classification and object detection experiments. The evaluation reveals a dichotomy: While Low-Light Image Enhancement (LLIE) methods enhance human visual interpretation, their effect on computer vision tasks is inconsistent and can sometimes be harmful. Our findings suggest a disconnect between image enhancement for human visual perception and for machine analysis, indicating a need for LLIE methods tailored to support high-level vision tasks effectively. This insight is crucial for the development of LLIE techniques that align with the needs of both human and machine vision. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Cross-Inhibitor: A time-sensitive molecular circuit based on DNA strand displacement

Designing biochemical systems that can be effectively used in diverse fields, including diagnostics, molecular computing and nanomachines, has long been recognized as an important goal of molecular programming and DNA nanotechnology. A key issue in the development of such practical devices on the nanoscale lies in the development of biochemical components with information-processing capacity. In this article, we propose a molecular device that utilizes DNA strand displacement networks and allows interactive inhibition between two input signals;thus, it is termed a cross-inhibitor. More specifically, the device supplies each input signal with a processor such that the processing of one input signal will interdict the signal of the other. Biochemical experiments are conducted to analyze the interdiction performance with regard to effectiveness, stability and controllability. To illustrate its feasibility, a biochemical framework grounded in this mechanism is presented to determine the winner of a tic-tac-toe game. Our results highlight the potential for DNA strand displacement cascades to act as signal controllers and event triggers to endow molecular systems with the capability of controlling and detecting events and signals. © 2020 The Author(s). LarTap: A Luminance-aware Framework with Text-correlation Priors for Multi-Exposure Image Fusion

Conventional imaging devices often struggle to produce high-dynamic-range (HDR) images that accurately represent natural scenes. To overcome this limitation, multi-exposure image fusion (MEF) techniques have been introduced as a viable solution. Existing MEF approaches aim to enhance performance by optimizing or searching architectures. However, they face challenges in precise feature extraction and scene reconstruction, leading to distortion in the fused images. Additionally, most methods do not adequately address luminance variations across different image regions, which may result in the loss of essential details. To address these challenges, we present a novel luminance-aware MEF framework that integrates text-correlation priors (LarTap). By embedding textual information into fusion process, the proposed framework enhances content extraction and comprehension. Specifically, it consist of two key components: the text-image correlation network (N1) and the multi-exposure fusion network (N2). First, N1 performs correlation training to achieve a holistic alignment between text and image pairs. Its iterative vision encoders (VEs) generate text-correlated prior knowledge to facilitate the fusion process in N2. Second, N2 leverages these priors for scene reconstruction and dynamically adjusts luminance based on comparative perception. Extensive experiments on multiple datasets demonstrate that LarTap outperforms state-of-the-art methods. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

According to the miniaturization characteristics of step impedance resonators, a step impedance bandpass filter with a center frequency of 16.55 GHz and a bandwidth of 500MHz is designed. The effects of parameter changes such as substrate resistivity and the shape of metal via etching on the performance of the filter are studied. Finally, the filter is fabricated and its performance is tested under MEMS technology.

While promising results have been achieved in weakly-supervised semantic segmentation (WSSS), limited supervision from image-level tags inevitably induces discriminative reliance and spurious relations between target classes and background regions. Thus, Class Activation Map (CAM) usually tends to activate discriminative object regions and falsely includes lots of class-related backgrounds. Without pixel-level supervisions, it could be very difficult to enlarge the foreground activation and suppress those false activation of background regions. In this paper, we propose a novel framework of Cross Language Image Matching with Automatic Context Discovery (CLIMS++), based on the recently introduced Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training (CLIP) model, for WSSS. The core idea of our framework is to introduce natural language supervision to activate more complete object regions and suppress class-related background regions in CAM. In particular, we design object, background region, and text label matching losses to guide the model to excite more reasonable object regions of each category. In addition, we propose to automatically find spurious relations between foreground categories and backgrounds, through which a background suppression loss is designed to suppress the activation of class-related backgrounds. The above designs enable the proposed CLIMS++ to generate a more complete and compact activation map for the target objects. Extensive experiments on PASCAL VOC 2012 and MS COCO 2014 datasets show that our CLIMS++ significantly outperforms the previous state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has been widely used in the field of visual navigation. However, due to the lack of adaptability of DRL to the new tasks, the generalization ability of current visual navigation model using DRL is not desired. In order to improve this deficiency, we introduce the memory-prediction mechanism. By enhancing the memory of the scene, and combining the past experience of navigation to predict the next state, a more reasonable action can be obtained. First, we pass the image features extracted during the navigation process to an LSTM, and use LSTM to memorize the scene information in the image features. Then, we combine all the information (including state, target, and action) of each time step in the navigation process, and pass the historical information of multiple time steps to another LSTM to predict the next state. The action performed by the robot is determined by the predicted state. We use the AI2-THOR framework to carry out experiments. The results show that the proposed method can improve the navigation performance of the DRL visual navigation model and improve its adaptability to new tasks.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) possess high mobility and flexible deployment capabilities, prompting the development of UAVs for various application scenarios within the Internet of Things (IoT). The unique capabilities of UAVs give rise to increasingly critical and complex tasks in uncertain and potentially harsh environments. The substantial amount of data generated from these applications necessitates processing and analysis through deep neural networks (DNNs). However, UAVs encounter challenges due to their limited computing resources when managing DNN models. This paper presents a joint approach that combines multiple-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) and generative diffusion models (GDM) for assigning DNN tasks to a UAV swarm, aimed at reducing latency from task capture to result output. To address these challenges, we first consider the task size of the target area to be inspected and the shortest flying path as optimization constraints, employing a greedy algorithm to resolve the subproblem with a focus on minimizing the UAV’s flying path and the overall system cost. In the second stage, we introduce a novel DNN task assignment algorithm, termed GDM-MADDPG, which utilizes the reverse denoising process of GDM to replace the actor network in multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient (MADDPG). This approach generates specific DNN task assignment actions based on agents’ observations in a dynamic environment. Simulation results indicate that our algorithm performs favorably compared to benchmarks in terms of path planning, Age of Information (AoI), energy consumption, and task load balancing. Although human pose estimation technology based on RGB images is becoming more and more mature, most of the current mainstream methods rely on depth camera to obtain human joints information. These interaction frameworks are affected by the infrared detection distance so that they cannot well adapt to the interaction scene of different distance. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to build a modular interactive framework based on RGB images, which aims to alleviate the problem of high dependence on depth camera and low adaptability to distance in the current human-robot interaction (HRI) framework based on human body by using advanced human pose estimation technology. To enhance the adaptability of the HRI framework to different distances, we adopt optical cameras instead of depth cameras as acquisition equipment. Firstly, the human joints information is extracted by a human pose estimation network. Then, a joints sequence filter is designed in the intermediate stage to reduce the influence of unreasonable skeletons on the interaction results. Finally, a human intention recognition model is built to recognize the human intention from reasonable joints information, and drive the robot to respond according to the predicted intention. The experimental results show that our interactive framework is more robust in the distance than the framework based on depth camera and is able to achieve effective interaction under different distances, illuminations, costumes, customers, and scenes.
