Since all of adaptive models converge to the same point in parameter space,classical second level multiple model adaptive control method cannot deal with linear time-varying *** order to deal with this drawback,this paper proposes a modified second level adaptive control method based on combining the advantages of adaptive model and fixed model for a class linear discrete time-varying plant where only a little prior information which is ***,multiple adaptive models are selected in the space of parameters,and the parameters are identifying and the controller is designed based on second level adaptive ***,when one of sub-model of the adaptive models are closed to the real parameters of the system,all of these adaptive models are fixed,and then the controller is designed based on multiple fixed ***,simulations have demonstrated that this method is effectively to a class of linear time-varying system.

In this paper we present a novel concept of a tethered-drones system. The system includes an arbitrary number of drones connected serially to an active ground station. The considered drones are of quadrotor type. Utilizing a unique pulley-gimbal mechanism, each drone can freely move along the tether and its position is measured with respect to the ground station without the use of standard onboard inertial sensors. The proposed system can be thought of as a robotic arm where each tether section acts as a variable-length link and each drone is a joint actuator. We model the coupled behavior of the ground station and the string, taking into account an arbitrary number of drones. Then, a controller that combines tools from geometric-control and linear-control is suggested. Finally, the concept is demonstrated using numerical simulations, which also illustrate its potential effectiveness.

The kernel principal component analysis (KPCA) method employs the first several kernel principal components (KPCs), which indicate the most variance information of normal observations for process monitoring, but may not reflect the fault information. In this study, sensitive kernel principal component analysis (SKPCA) is proposed to improve process monitoring performance, i.e., to deal with the discordance of T2 statistic and squared prediction error SVE statistic and reduce missed detection rates. T2 statistic can be used to measure the variation di rectly along each KPC and analyze the detection performance as well as capture the most useful information in a process. With the calculation of the change rate of T2 statistic along each KPC, SKPCA selects the sensitive kernel principal components for process monitoring. A simulated simple system and Tennessee Eastman process are employed to demonstrate the efficiency of SKPCA on online monitoring. The results indicate that the monitoring performance is improved significantly.

Fault diagnosis and monitoring are very important for complex chemical process. There are numerous methods that have been studied in this field, in which the effective visualization method is still challenging. In order to get a better visualization effect, a novel fault diagnosis method which combines self-organizing map (SOM) with Fisher discriminant analysis (FDA) is proposed. FDA can reduce the dimension of the data in terms of maximizing the separability of the classes. After feature extraction by FDA, SOM can distinguish the different states on the output map clearly and it can also be employed to monitor abnormal states. Tennessee Eastman (TE) process is employed to illustrate the fault diagnosis and monitoring performance of the proposed method. The result shows that the SOM integrated with FDA method is efficient and capable for real-time monitoring and fault diagnosis in complex chemical process.

Many networks constructed and investigated in network science are based on quantized weights of edges due to limitation on measurement or for research convenience. In this work, quantization effects on networks properties are investigated based on the eigenvalues of the corresponding Laplacian. Non-integer weights are rounded off to nd that higher rounding-off precision leads to a better approximation of the original networks distribution of eigenvalues, whereas shows no in uence on the quantization results. In contrast to the intuition that larger quantization level always implies a better approximation of the quantized network to the original one, periodic jumping phenomena at the critical quantization level with peak-value decreasing in a power-law relationship are observed in all the real-world networks we investigated. Furthermore, random exchange of weights among edges could in uence the critical quantization level but doesn’t affect the jumping phenomena.

In this work, an industrial acetic acid dehydration system via heterogeneous azeotropic distillation is simulated by Aspen Plus software. Residue curves are used to analyze the distillating behavior, and appropriate operating region of the system is determined. Based on steady states simulation, a sensitivity analysis is carried out to detect the output multiple steady states in the system. Different solution branches are observered when the flow rates of the feed stream and the organic reflux stream are selected as manipulated variables. The performance of the column under different steady states is different. A method is oroposed to achieve the desired steady state.
