Areas of northern China are arid, and soil moisture content and fertility are low at the time of planting of maize. A solution was proposed to address this problem. After harvesting in the autumn, the soil is tilled to create deep furrows which are filled with straw and fertilizer, and then backfilled to form ridges that are mulched with a plastic film. In the coming spring the maize will be seeded by puncture the membranes. A series of machines were designed and developed for this technology. Field tests were conducted and the performance of the machines were calculated and analyzed. Some shortcomings of the machines were found and the new machines were developed. Some field experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of field management practices on soil water and maize yield in west Liaoning province. The field management practices included traditional tillage (CK) and alternating ridges deeply buried straw and mulched with plastic film and bare furrows (DM). The DM treatment significantly increased the soil water content in the upper 40cm soil layer throughout maize growing season, compared with the CK treatment.

The technology of liquid desiccant and solar regeneration, is the key technical problems of evaporative cooling in high temperature and humidity region. Through the experimental measurement, study the relationship between the flow-ratio of air and solution and the dehumidify capability in different operating point of calcium chloride (CaCl 2 ) and chloride lithium (LiCl) mixture liquids. Also analyze the effect of the heat capacity ratio (m ) and total thermal efficiency according the total thermal efficiency count formula. The conclusion is that not the more air flow, the better dehumidification efficiency, when the solution mass flow is consent. The flow-ratio of air and solution need be optimized. The dehumidification efficiency of mixture salt solution in the solar dehumidification system was improved from percentage of 32.5 to 51.7, according to the optimal the flow-ratio of air and solution. This research for improving the dehumidification efficiency of mixture salt solution in the solar dehumidification system provides the theory evidence.

an empirical model was developed to investigate the long-debated relationship between industrial wastewater and economic development. Special attention was directly towards the connection between pollution characteristics(including generation, abatement, and discharge of industrial waste water) and rate of economic advancement. The relationship between industrial wastewater characteristics and gross domestic product(GDP) was examined using regression analysis by observed data in China from 1985 to 2006. The results show that the distribution of the observed data is in high accordance with that of the data calculated from the model. The relationships between GDP with industrial wastewater generation(IWWG), abatement rate(TR) and industrial wastewater discharge(IWWD), and demonstrate V-shaped, double connected inverse S-shaped, and reduced curves, respectively. IWWD conforms to the environmental Kuznets Curve(EKC) at the situation of the rising left leg of the unobserved curve.

In this study, Mingshan county—a typical hilly region located on the western edge of the Sichuan basin was selected as the research area. Based on the health risk assessment of Cr(VI), nitrate, fluoride and iron in 41 rural drinking water resources, applying the model recommended by the U.S. environmental Protection Agency(***), the evaluation grades of health risk associated with drinking water quality(HRWQ) was developed, and the Connection Degree(CD) and the weight of each index of the samples were calculated. And by evaluating them with the criterion of confidence level, Set Pair Analysis(SPA) was established. In this study, it could be seen that the HRWQ of most the resources in the area were of low-medium risk within grade I–III while the HRWQ of some other resources were in a less safe state of medium-high risk.

The degradation efficiency of organic contaminants and the catalysis of granule activated carbon (GAC) were investigated in a combined treatment of pulsed streamer discharge. The experimental result shows that the degradation rate could be observably increased and enhanced 22% in the combined treatment. This case indicates that synergetic effect can be formed in the combined treatment. The degradation rate could be enhanced 12.3% with saturated GAC in pulsed discharge. The data analysis indicates that regeneration of GAC can be achieved in this process. With the addition of H2O2, a synergistic effect was improved. Furthermore, it is also helpful to the regeneration of GAC.
