In order to solve the problem of fast switching of special equipment in the cultural complex, the improved Moth-Flame Optimization algorithm (MFO) is combined with the improved Dynamic Window Approach (DWA) to realize the hybrid path planning of handling robots in different scenarios of cultural complexes in this paper. Specifically, the traditional Moth-Flame Optimization algorithm is improved and applied to the global path planning problem. On the basis of the planned global path, the intersection of dynamic obstacles with the global path is detected, and the improved Dynamic Window Approach is used for local obstacle avoidance in the section with collision risk, finally, the hybrid path planning in the complex environment of the cultural complex is realized. The simulation experimental results prove the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

Research on workflow recognition for liver rupture repair surgery

Liver rupture repair surgery serves as one tool to treat liver rupture, especially beneficial for cases of mild liver rupture hemorrhage. Liver rupture can catalyze critical conditions such as hemorrhage and shock. Surgical workflow recognition in liver rupture repair surgery videos presents a significant task aimed at reducing surgical mistakes and enhancing the quality of surgeries conducted by surgeons. A liver rupture repair simulation surgical dataset is proposed in this paper which consists of 45 videos collaboratively completed by nine surgeons. Furthermore, an end-to-end SA-RLNet, a self attention-based recurrent convolutional neural network, is introduced in this paper. The self-attention mechanism is used to automatically identify the importance of input features in various instances and associate the relationships between input features. The accuracy of the surgical phase classification of the SA-RLNet approach is 90.6%. The present study demonstrates that the SA-RLNet approach shows strong generalization capabilities on the dataset. SA-RLNet has proved to be advantageous in capturing subtle variations between surgical phases. The application of surgical workflow recognition has promising feasibility in liver rupture repair surgery. ©2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press. In order to mitigate the adverse impact of denial of service (DoS) attacks, this work designs a parameter self-tuning controller based on fuzzy rules for vehicle platoons with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. Aiming at achieving the cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) of the vehicles with a required inter-vehicle distance and the same velocity, while considering the possible DoS attacks, we propose a parameter self-tuning longitudinal controller combining linear control and fuzzy control to enhance the stability and resilience of the platoon systems. Firstly, by analyzing the dynamic characteristics of vehicles and the mechanism of DoS attacks, we establish the dynamic model of vehicle platoons and model the impact of random DoS attacks as a constant data transmission delay, whose probability distribution can be defined using the Bernoulli random variable. Then, a linear controller based on fuzzy control is designed for longitudinal control to guarantee that the platoon keeps a reference velocity and the specified inter-vehicle distance under DoS attacks. Finally, thorough simulations are performed and the detailed results show the performance of the secure longitudinal control scheme for vehicle platoons in terms of stability and security. © 2023 IEEE.

Calibration of Multiple Asynchronous Microphone Arrays using Hybrid TDOA

Accurate calibration of acoustic sensing systems made of multiple asynchronous microphone arrays is essential for satisfactory performance in sound source localization and tracking. State-of-the-art calibration methods for this type of system rely on the time difference of arrival and direction of arrival measurements among the microphone arrays (denoted as TDOA-M and DOA, respectively). In this paper, to enhance calibration accuracy, we propose to incorporate the time difference of arrival measurements between adjacent sound events (TDOA-S) with respect to the microphone arrays. More specifically, we propose a two-stage calibration approach, including an initial value estimation (IVE) procedure and the final joint optimization step. The IVE stage first initializes all parameters except for microphone array orientations, using hybrid TDOA (i.e., TDOA-M and TDOA-S), odometer data from a moving robot carrying a speaker, and DOA. Subsequently, microphone orientations are estimated through the iterative closest point method. The final joint optimization step estimates multiple microphone array locations, orientations, time offsets, clock drift rates, and sound source locations simultaneously. Both simulation and experiment results show that for scenarios with low or moderate TDOA noise levels, our approach outperforms existing methods in terms of accuracy. Nowadays, mobile robots play an important role in a variety of service scenarios. They need to plan and track trajectories to accomplish tasks such as delivery or guided tours. In such tasks, there are two remaining challenges: on one hand, the time and memory consumption of present path planners are still significant;on the other hand, service robots, which have a higher center of gravity, demand greater moving stability than that of current trajectory planners provide. To address these two challenges. Firstly, we propose a safety boundary first A∗ which fully utilizes environmental obstacle information to create a safety boundary and searches in it to quickly find an initial path. Secondly, we formulate the trajectory optimization problem as a nonlinear optimization problem, where the smoothness, safety, feasibility, and moving stability of the robot are taken into account. Furthermore, to constrain the robot's lateral acceleration, we design a time allocation algorithm based on non-uniform B-spline, enhancing the quality of the resulting trajectory. Simulations and real-world experiments demonstrate that our algorithms significantly improve path search efficiency, enhance moving stability, reduce the difficulty of tracking, and improve the quality of task completion. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep learning (DL) models have been widely studied in the field of micro-expression recognition (MER). However, micro-expressions (MEs) suffer from small number of samples and difficulty in extracting subtle and transient features, resulting in limited improvement in the recognition performance. In addition, DL models are prone to overfitting problems and are difficult to extract discriminative features of facial actions from ME images or sequences. To address these issues, we propose a MER method that combines a nonlinear deep subspace network and optical flow features. Firstly, facial motion features are captured using optical flow computation, and then the optical flow features are input into a kernel principal component analysis network (KPCANet) to further learn deeper spatio-temporal features. Finally, a linear support vector machine (SVM) is used for ME classification. Experiments conducted on four public spontaneous ME datasets including SMIC, CASME, CASME II and SAMM validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves even better recognition performance compared to existing state-of-the-art MER methods. © 2023 ACM.

The expeditious progress of information technology has encouraged the digital enhancement of the educational sector. To remedy the issues of the traditional teaching mode, a blended teaching mode of engineering drawing course has been developed with the use of smart education technology. Based on the Outcomes-based Education ( OBE ), the teaching objectives and teaching contents of the course are reconstructed by using the method of reverse design and forward implementation. By leveraging the synergy of online and offline, virtual and real, and quantitative and qualitative evaluation, a blended teaching approach that is both student-centered and teacher-guided is realized. A course knowledge graph has been built, offering fresh concepts for accomplishing personalized learning for students. The teaching practice shows that the blended teaching mode based on intelligent education has created a multi-dimensional autonomous learning space and personalized learning path for students, which effectively improves the enthusiasm and initiative of students to participate in teaching activities, and also improves the information level of teaching process and management, and promotes the organic integration of teaching and learning. © 2024 ACM.

Energy storage station (ESS) and wind farm (WF) have the potential to serve as a black-start sources to accelerate the power system restoration after blackout. However, the voltage security problem when start the auxiliary machines of power plants limit their reliability as black-start sources. A voltage control method is proposed for ESS and WF combined black-start sources to improve the voltage security during black-start. Firstly, the black-start process based on grid-forming ESS and WF is presented, and the voltage control framework is established. Then, a predictive control method considering the impact of active power on voltage variations is proposed, in which different optimization modes are established to obtain the active and reactive control sequences for WF and ESS. Finally, black-start simulation with Matlab/Simulink demonstrate the proposed method can improve the voltage security level when starting auxiliary machines of power plants. © 2024 IEEE.
