In this research, we try to investigate a solar-geothermal energy system. This system includes three turbines for power production, a PEM electrolyzer for hydrogen production, and a thermoelectric for generating electricity from excess heat. In addition, the seawater will be passed through the osmotic cycle to gain fresh water. The required power for this osmotic cycle will be obtained through the energy produced by the main turbines. The generated load, hydrogen production flow rate, purified water flow rate, and heating consumption are assessed in this study. The results showed that this system can produce 3.8 megawatts of electricity as well as 8 g per second of hydrogen fuel at the operating point. Also, the energy efficiency of this system is estimated to be 19%. Afterward, machine learning methods are used to optimize designing parameters, and the optimum operating point in terms of useful power and stored fuel flow rate is obtained by a genetic algorithm. The optimum operating point of this energy system has a useful power output of 4.099 megawatts and a hydrogen flow rate of 29 g per second. In the end, the distribution of the design parameters is displayed for points of the beam curve. © 2022

Background: Restricted scan path mode is hypothesized to explain abnormal scanning patterns in patients with schizophrenia. Here, we calculated entropy scores (drawing on gaze data to measure the statistical randomness of eye movements) to quantify how strategical and random participants were when processing image stimuli. Methods: Eighty-six patients with first-episode schizophrenia (FES), 124 individuals at clinical high risk (CHR) for psychosis, and 115 healthy control participants (HCs) completed an eye-tracking examination while freely viewing 35 static images (each presented for 10 seconds) and cognitive assessments. We compared group differences in the overall entropy score, as well as entropy scores under various conditions. We also investigated the correlations between entropy scores and symptoms and cognitive function. Results: Increased overall entropy scores were noted in the FES and CHR groups compared with the HC group, and these differences were already apparent within 0 to 2.5 seconds. In addition, the CHR group exhibited higher entropy than the HC group when viewing low-meaning images. Moreover, the entropy within 0 to 2.5 seconds showed significant correlations with negative symptoms in the FES group, attention/vigilance scores in the CHR group, and speed of processing and attention/vigilance scores across all 3 groups. Conclusions: The results indicate that individuals with FES and those at CHR scanned pictures more randomly and less strategically than HCs. These patterns also correlated with clinical symptoms and neurocognition. The current study highlights the potential of the eye movement entropy measure as a neurophysiological marker for early psychosis. © 2024 Society of Biological Psychiatry

The application of the combination of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and artificial intelligence is a hot topic in the intelligent inspection of substations, and meter reading is a very challenging task. This paper proposes a method based on the combination of YOLOv6n object detection and Deeplabv3 + image segmentation and performs post-processing on the segmented images to obtain meter readings. First, YOLOv6n is used to detect the meter area of the aerial image and classify the meters. Second, the detected meter images are fed into the image segmentation model. The backbone network of the Deeplabv3 + algorithm is improved by using the MobileNetv3 network, which not only effectively extracts pointers and scales, but also makes the model more lightweight. Third, License Plate Recognition Network (LPRNet) is used to recognize digital meter images. In order to solve the problem of inaccurate pointer meter readings, to begin with, the segmented image is corroded; in addition, the circular dial area is flattened into a rectangular area by concentric circle sampling method. Finally, the meter reading is calculated by the position of the pointer, the scale and the total range of the meter. The post-processing part uses numba to optimize the inference speed. The experimental results show that in two datasets, The mean average precision of 50 (mAP50) accuracy of the YOLOv6n model using this method reached 99.71% and 98.60%, respectively, and the inference speed of a single image was 17.1 ms and 13.2 ms, respectively. The mean intersection over union (mIoU) of the image segmentation model reached 82.00%, 74.73%, 73.50%, 82.26% and 73.20%, respectively, and the single segmentation speed reached 33.7 ms. The LPRNet model has a recognition accuracy of 99.17% and a single image inference speed of 14.7 ms. Medical image segmentation has always been a challenging task. This paper proposes a new LUneXt medical image segmentation model based on the characteristics analysis of medical image data sets and testing of different nonlinear activation units. Both normalized activations for the original negative input image activation have good optimization capabilities for the tokenization module parameters proposed in the original UneXt model. Using different activation coefficients for different foreground and background areas has achieved better results. The experimental results of this paper on the Breast Ultrasound Images (BUSI) data set reached an intersection over union (IoU) value of 62.64%, a Dice value of 76.12%, and a single inference speed of 807.57 ms. The experimental IoU value of the International Skin Imaging Collaboration (ISIC 2018) data set reached 82.95%, and the Dice value reached 90.50%. The single inference speed reached 842.58 ms. The LUneXt model is more robust than other models. While improving model performance, it does not introduce higher computational complexity and does not have a major impact on the processing speed of a single image.

A hybrid machine learning method is proposed for wildfire susceptibility mapping. For modeling a geographical information system (GIS) database including 11 influencing factors and 262 fire locations from 2013 to 2018 is used for developing an integrated multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS). The cat swarm optimization (CSO) algorithm tunes the parameters of the MARS in order to generate accurate susceptibility maps. From the Pearson correlation results, it is observed that land use, temperature, and slope angle have strong correlation with the fire severity. The results demonstrate that the prediction capability of the MARS-CSO model outperforms model tree, reduced error pruning tree and MARS. The resulting wildfire risk map using MARS-CSO reveals that 20% of the study areas is categorized in the very low wildfire risk class, whereas 40% is under the very high class of fire hazard. © 2023 The Author(s). An artificial intelligence-generated content-enhanced computer-aided diagnosis (AIGC-CAD) model, designated as ThyGPT, has been developed. This model, inspired by the architecture of ChatGPT, could assist radiologists in assessing the risk of thyroid nodules through semantic-level human-machine interaction. A dataset comprising 19,165 thyroid nodule ultrasound cases from Zhejiang Cancer Hospital was assembled to facilitate the training and validation of the model. After training, ThyGPT could automatically evaluate thyroid nodule and engage in effective communication with physicians through human-computer interaction. The performance of ThyGPT was rigorously quantified using established metrics such as the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity. The empirical findings revealed that radiologists, when supplemented with ThyGPT, markedly surpassed the diagnostic acumen of their peers utilizing traditional methods as well as the performance of the model in isolation. These findings suggest that AIGC-CAD systems, exemplified by ThyGPT, hold the promise to fundamentally transform the diagnostic workflows of radiologists in forthcoming years. An integrated cyberGIS and machine learning framework for fine-scale prediction of Urban Heat Island using satellite remote sensing and urban sensor network data

Due to climate change and rapid urbanization, Urban Heat Island (UHI), featuring significantly higher temperature in metropolitan areas than surrounding areas, has caused negative impacts on urban communities. Temporal granularity is often limited in UHI studies based on satellite remote sensing data that typically has multi-day frequency coverage of a particular urban area. This low temporal frequency has restricted the development of models for predicting UHI. To resolve this limitation, this study has developed a cyber-based geographic information science and systems (cyberGIS) framework encompassing multiple machine learning models for predicting UHI with high-frequency urban sensor network data combined with remote sensing data focused on Chicago, Illinois, from 2018 to 2020. Enabled by rapid advances in urban sensor network technologies and high-performance computing, this framework is designed to predict UHI in Chicago with fine spatiotemporal granularity based on environmental data collected with the Array of Things (AoT) urban sensor network and Landsat-8 remote sensing imagery. Our computational experiments revealed that a random forest regression (RFR) model outperforms other models with the prediction accuracy of 0.45 degree Celsius in 2020 and 0.8 degree Celsius in 2018 and 2019 with mean absolute error as the evaluation metric. Humidity, distance to geographic center, and PM concentration are identified as important factors contributing to the model performance. Furthermore, we estimate UHI in Chicago with 10-min temporal frequency and 1-km spatial resolution on the hottest day in 2018. It is demonstrated that the RFR model can accurately predict UHI at fine spatiotemporal scales with high-frequency urban sensor network data integrated with satellite remote sensing data.

When EEG signals are used to assess the level of student engagement in online teaching tasks, they are often interfered by noise. It is a challenge to effectively remove these noises. Currently, deep learning methods have been applied to the field of EEG denoising. However, existing methods still have some problems. The denoised signals still have obvious noise residue, or the original EEG signals are damaged, and the model fitting speed is too slow. Image dehazing, as a typical denoising task in the field of image enhancement, has achieved great success in recent years. Therefore, inspired by advanced models in this field, we introduce CNN into EEG denoising tasks. In this paper, we take GCANet, an excellent image enhancement model, as an example. The dilated convolutions and gate fusion subnetworks included in GCANet enable more efficient EEG signal denoising. The results demonstrate that the proposed model effectively reduces noise while preserving essential features. Furthermore, in comparison to other state-of-the-art models, our proposed model exhibits enhanced robustness and faster convergence, as evidenced by achieving lower loss values after five epochs.
