In this study, a multi-degree-of-freedom (Multi-DOF) robot (MDR) system based on a LightGBM-driven electroencephalogram (EEG) decoding model is designed and developed to assist subjects with hand motor dysfunction in their daily activities and neurorehabilitation. The system mainly consists of a motor imagery electroencephalogram (MI-EEG) evoking layer, an intention decoding layer, and an interaction executive layer. The MI-EEG evoking layer initially displays a virtual reality (VR) motion imagination scenario, instructing the subjects to imagine a real hand gripping movement, simultaneously collecting the electrical EEG signals and preprocessing the EEG signals. Secondly, in the intention decoding layer, a network combining temporal-spectral feature fusion and LightGBM (TSFF-LightGBM) for MI-BCI classification is used to more effectively boost brain decoding accuracy and decrease decoding time. Finally, in the interaction executive layer, the Multi-DOF wearable robot is developed to offer hand grasp motion kinesthetic feedback and visual feedback synced with MI. The following are the key benefits of the proposed MDR system: (1) We propose a new lightweight network structure more suitable for brain computer interface (BCI) interaction systems, achieving more accurate decoding and shorter identification time in different data sets, which helps to improve the practicability of the system and promote the practical clinical application of BCI rehabilitation technology. (2) We integrate BCI, VR, a wearable Multi-DOF robot, motion kinesthetic feedback, and visual feedback to improve human-machine interaction. Compared to the most recent investigations, the average accuracy of the MDR system on the publicly accessible datasets BCI IV 2a and HGD reached 75.89% and 93.53%, respectively. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

TraSculptor: Visual Analytics for Enhanced Decision-Making in Road Traffic Planning

The design of urban road networks significantly influences traffic conditions, underscoring the importance of informed traffic planning. Traffic planning experts rely on specialized platforms to simulate traffic systems, assessing the efficacy of the road network across various states of modifications. Nevertheless, a prevailing issue persists: many existing traffic planning platforms exhibit inefficiencies in flexibly interacting with the road network's structure and attributes and intuitively comparing multiple states during the iterative planning process. This paper introduces TraSculptor, an interactive planning decision-making system. To develop TraSculptor, we identify and address two challenges: interactive modification of road networks and intuitive comparison of multiple network states. For the first challenge, we establish flexible interactions to enable experts to easily and directly modify the road network on the map. For the second challenge, we design a comparison view with a history tree of multiple states and a road-state matrix to facilitate intuitive comparison of road network states. To evaluate TraSculptor, we provided a usage scenario where the Braess's paradox was showcased, invited experts to perform a case study on the Sioux Falls network, and collected expert feedback through interviews. © 1995-2012 IEEE.

Prompt-based Unifying Inference Attack on Graph Neural Networks

Graph neural networks (GNNs) provide important prospective insights in applications such as social behavior analysis and financial risk analysis based on their powerful learning capabilities on graph data. Nevertheless, GNNs’ predictive performance relies on the quality of task-specific node labels, so it is common practice to improve the model’s generalization ability in the downstream execution of decision-making tasks through pre-training. Graph prompting is a prudent choice but risky without taking measures to prevent data leakage. In other words, in high-risk decision scenarios, prompt learning can infer private information by accessing model parameters trained on private data (publishing model parameters in pre-training, i.e., without directly leaking the raw data, is a tacitly accepted trend). However, myriad graph inference attacks necessitate tailored module design and processing to enhance inference capabilities due to variations in supervision signals. In this paper, we propose a novel Prompt-based unifying Inference Attack framework on GNNs, named ProIA. Specifically, ProIA retains the crucial topological information of the graph during pre-training, enhancing the background knowledge of the inference attack model. It then utilizes a unified prompt and introduces additional disentanglement factors in downstream attacks to adapt to task-relevant knowledge. Finally, extensive experiments show that ProIA enhances attack capabilities and demonstrates remarkable adaptability to various inference attacks. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In solving multi-modal multi-objective optimization problems (MMOPs), objective and decision space changes need to be considered. However, many multi-modal multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MMOEAs) tend to prioritize diversity in the objective space during the optimization process, often leading to suboptimal diversity and distribution in the decision space. This study proposes the Dynamic-Niche-Based Two-Stage Evolution (DNTE) approach to address this issue. DNTE employs differential evolutionary strategies in two stages, utilizing dynamic niche to enhance solution viability and optimize decision space distribution at different phases. In the first stage, the dynamic niche is used to restrict the dominance range of Pareto domination. In contrast, in the second stage, it is integrated with differential evolution to refine the distribution of the decision space. Combining DNTE with DN-NSGA-II enhances the capability of solving MMOPs and demonstrates superior performance compared to other evolutionary algorithms on MMF and MMMOP benchmark functions. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

LSU-NET: LIGHTWEIGHT AUTOMATIC ORGANS SEGMENTATION NETWORK FOR MEDICAL IMAGES

UNet and its variants have widespread applications in medical image segmentation. However, the substantial number of parameters and computational complexity of these models make them less suitable for use in clinical settings with limited computational resources. To address this limitation, we propose a novel Lightweight Shift U-Net (LSU-Net). We integrate the Light Conv Block and the Tokenized Shift Block in a lightweight manner, combining them with a dynamic weight multi-loss design for efficient dynamic weight allocation. The Light Conv Block effectively captures features with a low parameter count by combining standard convolutions with depthwise separable convolutions. The Tokenized Shift Block optimizes feature representation by shifting and capturing deep features through a combination of the Spatial Shift Block and depthwise separable convolutions. Dynamic adjustment of the loss weights at each layer approaches the optimal solution and enhances training stability. We validated LSU-Net on the UWMGI and MSD Colon datasets, and experimental results demonstrate that LSU-Net outperforms most state-of-the-art segmentation architectures. The rapid development of deep learning has led to an increasing demand for data. However, such data are scarce in many fields and often contain private and sensitive information, such as medical images. The fact that data owners are unwilling to share these high-privacy data further exacerbates the scarcity of data. A prevalent research direction is to combine differential privacy and image generation, by which we can obtain a large amount of synthetic data with a similar distribution to the original dataset, and that synthetic dataset does not compromise the privacy of the original dataset. However, these methods cannot provide labels for the generated data, limiting the subsequent uses of the data. To solve the problem, we propose a generic privacy-preserving labeled data generation framework named PP-LDG. It is the first data publishing framework to generate labeled data while not disclosing the privacy of original data. We theoretically demonstrate that our proposed framework can provide strict privacy guarantees with differential privacy and demonstrate the effectiveness of the synthetic dataset obtained from the framework under practical privacy budgets through extensive experiments.

The main objective of incomplete multi-view clustering is to effectively utilize the existing view information to fill in the missing data and to mine the complementary information and potential associations between multiple views to effectively group samples. The existing primary means for recovering missing information are classified into two parts: one uses matrix decomposition or low-rank constraints to fill in the missing views, and the other constructs multiple graph structures and uses graph regularization to recover the corresponding missing parts. However, the two methods are relatively independent and are not used jointly to improve the model performance. This paper proposes an incomplete multi-view clustering method with complete clustering metrics and complete anchor graphs (CFAG). Specifically, each view’s missing samples are recovered by a matrix of consistent clustering metrics and represented by an anchor graph. The recovered complete data performs anchor graph construction and anchor learning and utilizes the orthogonal variation principle to learn the consistency structure of multiple anchor graphs to mine the complementary information among multiple views. The clustering metrics are obtained based on the consistency structure, and the consistency of the clustering metrics is also considered to obtain the final clustering results. In many underwater application scenarios, recognition tasks need to be executed promptly on computationally limited platforms. However, models designed for this field often exhibit spatial locality, and existing works lack the ability to capture crucial details in images. Therefore, a lightweight and detail-aware vision network (LDVNet) for resource-constrained environments is proposed to overcome the limitations of these approaches. Firstly, in order to enhance the accuracy of target image recognition, we introduce transformer modules to acquire global information, thus addressing the issue of spatial locality inherent in traditional convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Secondly, to maintain the network's lightweight nature, we integrate the transformer module with convolutional operations, thereby mitigating the substantial parameter and floating point operations (FLOPs) overhead. Thirdly, for the efficient extraction of crucial fine-grained details from feature maps, we have devised a channel and spatial attention module (C&SA). This module aids in recognizing intricate and fine-grained visual tasks and enhances image understanding. It is seamlessly integrated into LDVNet with nearly negligible parameter overhead. The experimental results demonstrate that LDVNet outperforms other lightweight networks and hybrid networks in different recognition tasks, while being suitable for resource-constrained environments. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, high-speed trains are one of the popular research topics in the field of transportation and have attracted much attention from scholars at home and abroad in view of their high efficiency and safety features. High-speed trains are susceptible to unexpected situations of delayed arrival due to the disturbance of external factors including wind and temperature during the trip. The delay of high-speed trains has a vital impact on people's work efficiency and living standards. To solve the problem of intelligent forecast of high-speed train delay, we design and implement a clustering ensemble algorithm based on text data of bullet train operation environment monitoring. We firstly combine the concepts of cosine similarity, Jaccard similarity and information entropy, then fuse a bidirectional weighting formula, and further propose a novel Clustering Ensemble algorithm based on Bidirectional Weighted Co-association (CE-BWC). This approach consists of an inter-cluster weighting formula used to obtain the implicit generalized information by weighting each cluster between clusters, and a reliability weighting formula transferring the cluster information to the data item itself to measure the correlation degree of the data group. Experiments prove that our CE-BWC has better prediction performance for high-speed train delay and outperforms the state-of-the-art benchmark algorithms. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Homophily Induced Contrastive Attributed Graph Clustering

Attributed graph clustering, aiming to discover the underlying graph structure and partition the graph nodes into several disjoint categories, is a basic task in graph data analysis. Although recent efforts over graph contrastive clustering have achieved decent performances, most of them get accustomed to construct the positive neighbor set by the generated pseudo clustering information, directly ignoring the ready-made neighbor nodes and the underlying semantics of edges in a graph. How to well deal with the graph neighbor-specific information to facilitate the performance of graph contrastive clustering is still a challenging problem. Therefore, in this work, we propose a novel Homophily Induced Contrastive Attributed Graph Clustering (HomoCAGC) method, where the power of homophily is exploited in facilitating the performance of contrastive attributed graph clustering, while the pseudo homophily in a graph is also explored and distinguished. Especially, the node feature as reliable information guidance is used to compute the underlying feature-oriented pair-wise node similarity, based on which the positive node pairs in contrastive regularizer are adjusted for better node representation characterization. According to the refined node representations, a triplet self-supervised clustering objective is well-designed to ensure the output embedding is cluster-oriented, and suitable for the downstream clustering task. Extensive experiments on seven benchmarks are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of HomoCAGC. © 1991-2012 IEEE.
