1Introduction data are at the heart of intelligent rail systems in the high-speed transportation sector(Zhou et al.,2020;Ho et al.,2021;Hu et al.,2021;Chen et al.,2022).The core of modern intelligent railroad systems typically includes rail transportation and equipment monitoring models learned from large datasets,which are often optimized for specific data and workloads(Zhu et al.,2019;Tan et al.,2020).While these intelligent railroad systems have been widely adopted and successful,their reliability and proper function will change as the data used *** the data used(on which the system operates)deviates from the fundamental constraints of the initial data(on which the system is trained)then,in that case,the system performance degrades,and the results inferred by the system model become unreliable,so the system model must be retrained and redeployed to re-store reliable inference results(Sharma and Chandel,2013).The mechanism for assessing the trustworthiness of intelligent rail system inferences is of paramount importance,especially for rail systems performing safety-critical or high-impact operations.

This paper presents a Scientific Literature Management Platform (SLMP, demo link1 ) based on large language models (LLMs). The platform consists of four modules: literature management, literature extraction, literature retrieval, and question answering. The core techniques used to support the four modules across the platform include a fine-tuned model PaperExtractGPT and a continual pre-training model ChatPaperGPT based on ChatGLM2 using the data from scientific research literature, responsible for information extraction and communication, respectively. Due to their powerful capabilities in natural language understanding and generation, LLMs can understand complex scientific concepts based on the provided contexts, and thus generate high-quality texts and conduct in-depth information retrieval and question answering. Our platform can help researchers manage and utilize literature more effectively and efficiently for finding relevant literature, obtaining required information, and generating new knowledge. © 2024 IEEE.

To achieve progressive and accurate decision-making for long-term time series data while meeting the needs of privacy-friendly and early, this paper proposes a universal framework for sequential progressive decision-making (SPD). This framework first segments the data and sets up multiple columns of neural networks according to the number of segments. Each column can make segmented decisions based on the inputs for the period. Additionally, without sharing the original data, the framework leverages lateral hidden layer connections between preceding and succeeding columns to obtain useful features for subsequent decision-making, gradually improving accuracy while avoiding the risk of data leakage. SPD has the advantages of privacy friendliness, column model diversification, prior knowledge reuse, and easy scalability, making it an effective framework for continuous decision-making. The effectiveness of that was validated using various network models in handwritten digit recognition and electrocardiogram classification tasks. The obtained experimental results reveal that SPD not only enables early decision-making while ensuring accuracy but also achieves accuracy levels comparable to or even surpassing those obtained using complete data, with the added benefit of privacy protection. © 2023 IEEE.

With the increasing number of services and their homogenization, the use of Quality of Service (QoS) for recommendations has become necessary. However, existing QoS prediction solutions have limitations in solving the noise and label imbalance problems of dataset, which greatly limit the improvement of QoS prediction accuracy. In this paper, we propose FSNet that contains a feature distribution smoothing module and an improved W-Huber loss function. The feature distribution smoothing module mitigates the effect of noise problem by fitting potential Gaussian distribution of known features with a supervised feedforward neural network. W-Huber loss function mitigates the impact of label imbalance problem on QoS prediction by reweighting the two components of Huber loss function. We conduct extensive experiments on real large-scale QoS dataset, and the results demonstrate that the proposed FSNet method outperforms existing QoS prediction methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). With the development of artificial intelligence, an increasing number of studies have begun to explore its application in cancer treatment prediction. However, the prior methods exhibit considerable variability even with slight modifications to the input data, which could potentially undermine the reliability of the results. In this paper, we proposed RP-Net, a novel multi-modal fusion-based framework that combines feature information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and whole slide images (WSI), establishing a relationship to map the therapeutic effectiveness of nCRT for LARC. We investigated the relationship of the tumour region and its periphery tissues, and demonstrated the validity of the proposed framework that involving 11 different combinations of modalities. The experimental results revealed that it has achieved higher prediction accuracy compared to the four intra-categories single-modal combinations and outperformed the two intra-categories multi-modal combinations. When compared to the other four inter-categories multi-modal combinations, the fusion features get accuracy of 2% ∼ 6% improvement respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

To enable remote image acquisition and wireless transmission for field sex lure monitoring of Spodoptera frugiperda, the design consists of a CPU processor module, power supply module, image acquisition module, 4G wireless network transmission module, and external SRAM module. The system employs the STM32F407 control core, the OV2640 camera for image acquisition, the JPEG algorithm to compress and decode the image data collected by the camera, and automatically restore the image collected at the monitoring point, the EC20 as a 4G wireless communication network for image data transmission, and the transmission of real-time image data to the server side of the upper computer to achieve human-computer interaction and real-time interaction of system daemons. The experimental results show that the system achieves remote image acquisition of grassland moths and reliably transmits the collected image data to the server side of the upper computer via a 4G wireless network, allowing the monitor to view images of grassland moth monitoring points collected by the system in real-time and save the collected image data locally. This system accomplishes the automation and intelligence of the grassland moth monitoring system, prepares the data for subsequent grassland moth research, and has a broad application promise for grassland moth population monitoring. © 2022 IEEE.

In order to verify the effectiveness of task offloading algorithms in large-scale cloud and edge computing systems, scholars usually use simulation platforms to conduct extensive experiments. However, existing simulation platforms have unclear application scenarios and relatively homogeneous functions, which cannot fully exploit the respective advantages of cloud and edge computing. To address the above issues, this paper designs a new simulation platform, CETO-Sim (Cloud-Edge Task Offloading Simulation), for the cloud-edge aggregation computing scenario, which is convenient for users to verify the effectiveness of the task offloading algorithm. The platform adopts a modular design strategy, allowing users to invoke the various interfaces provided by the platform to simulate and build different physical entities, and to freely combine them to simulate different computing environments. The platform contains six components: task management component, network topology component, end-user component, scheduling policy component, server component and operation component. The platform simulates the task offloading process through the interaction between these components, while recording the changes of various parameters of tasks and simulated entities in real time, and finally printing out the experimental results in the form of logs. This paper presents an example of task offloading using the particle swarm algorithm in a cloud-side aggregated computing environment, demonstrating that the CETO-Sim platform has the advantages of clear architecture, simple operation, easy deployment, accurate experimental results and high simulation efficiency, and also verifying the feasibility of deploying the platform in other scenarios. © 2022 IEEE.

Relation classification aims to classify the entity pairs into a certain relation, which is an important task of natural language processing. The latest end-to-end models based on attention mechanism still have shortcomings, i.e., the attention will be gradually weakened when processing long sequences, and they cannot make use of the hidden type information of the entities. To solve these problems, we propose a relation classification model based on the selective entity-aware attention mechanism, which consists of context encoder and entity-aware attention network. In the context encoder, contextual word semantics are learned through self-attention. Entity selection is applied to adapt the fact that different words can determine each other's importance. Latent types of entities are taken as auxiliary information to make full use of the entities' hidden features. Experiments on the SemEval-2010 Task 8 dataset and TACRED show that our model outperforms the baselines without implementing any external resources or NLP tools, and the entity-aware attention indeed improve the model's performance. © 2022 IEEE.

Test-time adaptation (TTA) has shown to be effective at tackling distribution shifts between training and testing data by adapting a given model on test samples. However, the online model updating of TTA may be unstable and this is often a key obstacle preventing existing TTA methods from being deployed in the real world. Specifically, TTA may fail to improve or even harm the model performance when test data have: 1) mixed distribution shifts, 2) small batch sizes, and 3) online imbalanced label distribution shifts, which are quite common in practice. In this paper, we investigate the unstable reasons and find that the batch norm layer is a crucial factor hindering TTA stability. Conversely, TTA can perform more stably with batch-agnostic norm layers, i.e., group or layer norm. However, we observe that TTA with group and layer norms does not always succeed and still suffers many failure cases. By digging into the failure cases, we find that certain noisy test samples with large gradients may disturb the model adaption and result in collapsed trivial solutions, i.e., assigning the same class label for all samples. To address the above collapse issue, we propose a sharpness-aware and reliable entropy minimization method, called SAR, for further stabilizing TTA from two aspects: 1) remove partial noisy samples with large gradients, 2) encourage model weights to go to a flat minimum so that the model is robust to the remaining noisy samples. Promising results demonstrate that SAR performs more stably over prior methods and is computationally efficient under the above wild test scenarios. We study the partial search order problem (PSOP) proposed recently by Scheffler [WG 2022]. Given a graph G together with a partial order on the set of vertices of G, this problem determines if there is an S-ordering that is consistent with the given partial order, where S is a graph search paradigm like BFS, DFS, etc. This problem naturally generalizes the end-vertex problem which has received much attention over the past few years. It also generalizes the so-called F-tree recognition problem which has just been studied in the literature recently. Our main contribution is a polynomial-time dynamic programming algorithm for the PSOP of the maximum cardinality search (MCS) restricted to chordal graphs. This resolves one of the most intriguing open questions left in the work of Scheffler [WG 2022].
