In the real world, due to various challenging lighting conditions such as low light, underexposure, and overexposure, captured images often exhibit undesirable appearances. Given that images with different exposure levels require different correction processes, a single neural network struggles to produce satisfactory results. We propose a coarse-to-fine exposure correction model for learning exposure consistency representation to address underexposure and overexposure issues. Building upon the bilateral activation mechanism, we introduce the Fourier transform to capture global information and fuse it with locally extracted information through convolution to achieve superior feature representation. Additionally, we employ Laplacian pyramids to decompose the source image into different spatial frequency bands, then the image details are enhanced by denoising high-frequency layers. Experimental results on the MSEC and SICE datasets demonstrate the superiority of our proposed method over current state-of-the-art approaches. Our code will be made available on GitHub.

Questionnaire survey systems are a kind of computer-aided survey tool, which are helpful for the questionnaire publisher to collect the opinions and appeals of the respondents. Nevertheless, it is difficult for the questionnaire publisher to solve tricky questions such as respondents’ inactivity in answering questions, especially in the subjective questionnaire. The paper extends the privacy-friendly incentive protocols of Camenisch et al. based on the technique of signatures of knowledge and the Au-Susilo-Mu signature and put forward a subjective questionnaire system oriented to professional course teaching. The new system controls the range of participants by specific attributes. It also allows participants to remain anonymous at all phases, so they can truly feedback on their subjective evaluations. Moreover, when students are not within the scope of the survey, they are encouraged to help to review the collected subjective questionnaire answers. Furthermore, the new system introduces a token mechanism to stimulate students’ participation. Security analysis shows that the new system satisfies correctness, balance, anonymity, and unlinkability. © 2023 SPIE.

In the field of sign language generation, Transformer-based models have been widely studied, but their quadratic computational complexity poses challenges. State Space Models (SSMs), like Mamba, offer a promising alternative with efficient long-range interaction modeling and linear complexity. In this study, we propose a two-stage generative framework for sign language generation, called Sign-Mamba, based on the state selection mechanism of SSM. In the first stage, we designed a Mamba-based encoder-decoder architecture, where the encoder captures the latent space representation and a symmetric decoder reconstructs it back into sign language skeletal points. In the second stage, the sign language latent space predicted by the Mamba-based latent predictor is used as a condition to guide the reconstruction network in generating more precise skeletal point sequences. We conducted comprehensive experiments on the PHOENIX and How2Sign datasets, and the results indicate that Sign-Mamba demonstrates competitive performance in sign language generation tasks. A transition-based neural framework for Chinese nested entity and relation recognition

Entity and relation extraction for Chinese texts are typical performed in a pipelined fashion in the sense that by first segmenting sequence into words then recognizing entities and relations subsequently. However, this process often leads to the problem of error propagation and prevents cross-task information integration. To address this issue, we propose a novel transition-based model that performs nested entity recognition and relation extraction jointly without the need of word segmentation beforehand, which is achieved by leveraging the recent advance in using a lattice structure for Chinese sentence encodings. On standard ACE benchmarks, our model gives the best results in the literature. Further analyses show the effectiveness of the proposed architecture in capturing structural outputs. Author

Topic identification of expert stock comments is an important task in the field of finance, which helps investors understand the market dynamics and expert opinions so that they can make more informed investment decisions. The Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model is one of the widely used methods for text topic identification. To improve the identification accuracy and overcome the limitations of the BERT model, two strategies are proposed in this study. First, given the BERT model's input length limitation when dealing with long texts, we used the summaries created by Chat Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT) as inputs to the model. The generative summarization capability of ChatGPT not only reduces the length of the text effectively but also preserves the key information of the original text, which enables the model to better understand and deal with long texts. Second, we perform multi-layer feature ablation on the BERT model to find the most representative features for text topic identification. The multi-layer features of the BERT model can be more effectively utilized to improve the accuracy of text topic identification. Experiments show that our proposed strategies exhibit excellent performance and provide effective paths to improve the accuracy of stock comment topic identification. © 2024 ACM.

In recent years, audio-driven neural radiance field (NeRF)-based talking head generation techniques have achieved impressive results. However, these methods still have some limitations, such as unsynchronized lip movements and visual jitter. Recently, 3D Gaussian splatting has gradually replaced NeRF. Compared to NeRF, 3D Gaussian offers notable advantages, including higher efficiency and better reconstruction quality. Based on this, we propose Gaussian-Face, an audio-driven Gaussian-based facial avatar. With just a few minutes of monocular video and audio, a high-fidelity, driveable facial avatar can be reconstructed within hours. To achieve this, we first use FLAME to obtain the 3D representation of the face and then design a Lip Motion Translator to map audio to 3D lip representations. To model higher-quality facial details, we propose a hybrid density modeling method that balances rendering speed and quality, enabling our approach to render high-fidelity facial avatars at more than 160 FPS. Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) refer to the synergistic or antagonistic effects between different drugs. Synergistic effects can enhance therapeutic efficacy, while antagonistic effects may reduce efficacy or even trigger adverse reactions, worsening the patient's condition. Most existing DDI prediction studies overlook the features of chemical bonds between atoms within drug molecules and the interaction types between drug pairs, which to some extent limits the accuracy and reliability of the predictions. In view of this, we have designed a novel framework called KGE-DDI, which leverages knowledge graph embedding (KGE) technology to enhance the prediction of DDIs. Specifically, for individual drug molecules, KGE-DDI first integrates the features of atoms and chemical bond. Then, by introducing attention mechanisms and graph neural network technology, it learns representations of the drug molecules. For pairs of drug molecules, KGE-DDI models their interactions utilizing atom-level Pearson correlation matrices. Finally, it predicts the interactions between drug pairs by employing our designed scoring function. We conducted comprehensive experiments under both transductive and inductive settings, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of KGE-DDI in three scenarios: (existing drug, existing drug), (new drug, new drug), and (new drug, existing drug).

The development of the Internet has made people more closely related and has put forward higher requirements for recommendation models. Most recommendation models are studied only for the long-term interests of users. In this paper, the interaction time between the user and the item is introduced as auxiliary information in the model construction. Interaction time is used to determine users' long-term preferences and short-term preferences. In this paper, temporal features are extracted by building a convolutional gated recurrent unit with attention neural network (CNN-GRU-Attention). Firstly, for the problem of accurate feature extraction, CNN are constructed to extract higher-level and more abstract features of themselves and transform high-dimensional data into low-dimensional data;secondly, for the problem of social temporality, GRU are used to not only extract temporal information, but also effectively reduce gradient dispersion, making model convergence and training easier;finally, Graph Attention networks are used to aggregate the social relationship information of users and items respectively, which constitute the final feature representation of users and items respectively. In particular, a modified cosine similarity is used to reduce the error caused by data insensitivity when constructing the social information of the item. In this study, simulation experiments are conducted on two publicly available datasets (Epinions and Ciao), and the experimental results show that the proposed recommended model performs better than other social recommendation models, improving the evaluation metrics of MAE and RMSE by 1.06%-1.33% and 1.19%-1.37%, respectively. The effectiveness of the model innovation is proved. © 2023 IEEE.

Enhancing Perception Capabilities of Multimodal LLMs with Training-Free Fusion

Multimodal LLMs (MLLMs) equip language models with visual capabilities by aligning vision encoders with language models. Existing methods to enhance the visual perception of MLLMs often involve designing more powerful vision encoders, which requires exploring a vast design space and re-aligning each potential encoder with the language model, resulting in prohibitively high training costs. In this paper, we introduce VisionFuse, a novel integration framework that efficiently utilizes multiple vision encoders from off-the-shelf MLLMs to enhance visual perception without requiring additional training. Our approach is motivated by the observation that different MLLMs tend to focus on distinct regions given the same query and image. Moreover, we find that the feature distributions of vision encoders within an MLLM family, a group of MLLMs sharing the same pretrained LLM, are highly aligned. Building on these insights, VisionFuse enriches the visual context by concatenating the tokens generated by the vision encoders of selected MLLMs within a family. By merging the parameters of language models from these MLLMs, VisionFuse allows a single language model to align with various vision encoders, significantly reducing deployment overhead. We conduct comprehensive evaluations across multiple multimodal benchmarks using various MLLM combinations, demonstrating substantial improvements in multimodal tasks.
