Protein function annotation is an important content of bioinformatics. It is unrealistic to experimentally annotate a large number of protein functions, so automated prediction of the functions of proteins is required. Studying plant proteins can help us cultivate new plant varieties. However, the existing methods mainly aim at predicting the single function of plant proteins. Most proteins only have sequence information. Therefore, the multi-function prediction method of plant protein based on sequence has become the focus of research. In this study, we propose a method based on sequence to predict the function of plant proteins, called PlantGO. We describe the functional annotation problem as a multi-label classification problem using Gene Ontology (GO) terminology, and predict multiple functions for plant proteins. PlantGO extracts features from three aspects and performs feature fusion respectively. To avoid redundant information in features, PlantGO uses the random forest to select features and obtains three groups of optimal features. PlantGO uses a multi-label learning algorithm MLKNN to predict protein function, which proves the effectiveness and accuracy of the algorithm. Finally, PlantGO adopts the ensemble learning method to integrate all models into a unified model, further improving the prediction performance. Therefore, PlantGO has achieved excellent performance. The performance metrics are Accuracy (0.936), F1 Score (0.944), Ranking loss (0.011), which is better than the previous method in the independent test. We have developed an online server to predict the functions of plant proteins. © 2022 IEEE.

The sparse interactions between users and items have aggravated the difficulty of their representations in recommender systems. Existing methods leverage tags to alleviate the sparsity problem but ignore prevalent logical relations among items and tags (e.g., membership, hierarchy, and exclusion), which can be leveraged to enhance the accuracy of modeling user preferences and conducting recommendations. To this end, we propose to extract logical relations among item tags from existing tag taxonomies and exploit the individual strengths of the Poincaré and the Lorentz models in hyperbolic space for logical relation modeling towards enhanced recommendations. Moreover, we find that the logical relations directly extracted from existing tag taxonomies can be inaccurate and coarse. Therefore, we further devise innovative consistency-based and granularity-based weighting mechanisms based on user behavior patterns for data-driven logical relation mining that can be jointly optimized along with recommendations in an end-to-end fashion. Extensive experiments on four real-world benchmark datasets show drastic performance gains brought by our proposed framework, which constantly achieves an average of 8.25% improvement over state-of-the-art competitors regarding both Recall and NDCG metrics. Insightful case studies further demonstrate that our automatically refined logical relations are highly accurate and interpretable. © 2024 IEEE.

In the field of deep learning-based medical image segmentation, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) extract image features by combining linear convolutional layers with nonlinear activation functions. However, excessive stacking of linear layers in the network limits the model’s ability to capture fine-grained details. In addition, the feature distribution imbalance caused by the traditional fixed grouping strategy (FGS) can affect the deep model’s capacity to perceive the overall structure of the image. To address these challenges, we propose a medical image segmentation framework, called Kolmogorov-Arnold Network with the adaptive group strategy and contextual Transformer based on Unet (KAC-Unet). First, we propose the adaptive group strategy (AGS) to balance the grouping of different input channels, alleviating the performance degradation caused by differences in group information. Then, we propose the Shift Tokenized Kolmogorov-Arnold Network (KAN) Block to capture complex features in medical images through flexible nonlinear transformations and shift operations. Extensive experiments are conducted on three medical image segmentation datasets. The results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed method compared with state-of-the-art algorithms. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

The fair and objective assessment of performances and competitions is a common pursuit and challenge in human society. The application of computer vision technology offers hope for this purpose, but it still faces obstacles such as occlusion and motion blur. To address these hindrances, our DanceFix proposes a bidirectional spatial-temporal context optical flow correction (BOFC) method. This approach leverages the consistency and complementarity of motion information between two modalities: optical flow, which excels at pixel capture, and lightweight skeleton data. It enables the extraction of pixel-level motion changes and the correction of abnormal skeleton data. Furthermore, we propose a part-level dance dataset (Dancer Parts) and part-level motion feature extraction based on task decoupling (PETD). This aims to decouple complex whole-body parts tracking into fine-grained limb-level motion extraction, enhancing the confidence of temporal information and the accuracy of correction for abnormal data. Finally, we present the DNV dataset, which simulates fully neat group dance scenes and provides reliable labels and validation methods for the newly introduced group dance neatness assessment (GDNA). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to develop quantitative criteria for assessing limb and joint neatness in group dance. We conduct experiments on DNV and video-based public JHMDB datasets. Our method effectively corrects abnormal skeleton points, flexibly embeds, and improves the accuracy of existing pose estimation algorithms. RegMixMatch: Optimizing Mixup Utilization in Semi-Supervised Learning

Consistency regularization and pseudo-labeling have significantly advanced semi-supervised learning (SSL). Prior works have effectively employed Mixup for consistency regularization in SSL. However, our findings indicate that applying Mixup for consistency regularization may degrade SSL performance by compromising the purity of artificial labels. Moreover, most pseudo-labeling based methods utilize thresholding strategy to exclude low-confidence data, aiming to mitigate confirmation bias;however, this approach limits the utility of unlabeled samples. To address these challenges, we propose RegMixMatch, a novel framework that optimizes the use of Mixup with both high- and low-confidence samples in SSL. First, we introduce semi-supervised RegMixup, which effectively addresses reduced artificial labels purity by using both mixed samples and clean samples for training. Second, we develop a class-aware Mixup technique that integrates information from the top-2 predicted classes into low-confidence samples and their artificial labels, reducing the confirmation bias associated with these samples and enhancing their effective utilization. MambaLCT: Boosting Tracking via Long-term Context State Space Model

Effectively constructing context information with long-term dependencies from video sequences is crucial for object tracking. However, the context length constructed by existing work is limited, only considering object information from adjacent frames or video clips, leading to insufficient utilization of contextual information. To address this issue, we propose MambaLCT, which constructs and utilizes target variation cues from the first frame to the current frame for robust tracking. First, a novel unidirectional Context Mamba module is designed to scan frame features along the temporal dimension, gathering target change cues throughout the entire sequence. Specifically, target-related information in frame features is compressed into a hidden state space through selective scanning mechanism. The target information across the entire video is continuously aggregated into target variation cues. Next, we inject the target change cues into the attention mechanism, providing temporal information for modeling the relationship between the template and search frames. The advantage of MambaLCT is its ability to continuously extend the length of the context, capturing complete target change cues, which enhances the stability and robustness of the tracker. Extensive experiments show that long-term context information enhances the model’s ability to perceive targets in complex scenarios. In this paper, we propose a one-stage approach to improve referring expression comprehension (REC) which aims at grounding the referent according to a natural language expression. We observe that humans understand referring expressions through a fine-tocoarse bottom-up way, and bidirectionally obtain vision-language information between image and text. Inspired by this, we define the language granularity and the vision granularity. Otherwise, existing methods do not follow the mentioned way of human understanding in referring expression. Motivated by our observation and to address the limitations of existing methods, we propose a bottom-up and bidirectional alignment (BBA) framework. Our method constructs the cross-modal alignment starting from fine-grained representation to coarse-grained representation and bidirectionally obtains vision-language information between image and text. Based on the structure of BBA, we further propose a progressive visual attribute decomposing approach to decompose visual proposals into several independent spaces to enhance the bottom-up alignment framework. Experiments on five benchmark datasets of RefCOCO, RefCOCO+, ReferItGame, RefCOCOg and Flick30K show that our approach obtains +2.16%, +4.47%, +2.85%, +3.44%, and +2.91% improvements over the one-stage SOTA approaches, which validates the effectiveness of our approach.

The lightweight target detection model is deployed in an environment with limited computing power and power consumption, which is widely used in many fields. Most of the current lightweight technologies only focus on a few steps of the model implementation and lack a global perspective. Therefore, this paper proposes a general lightweight model implementation framework, including network construction indicators, lightweight backbone network design, and model optimization. By analyzing the complexity indicator of network structure, the factors that affect network performance such as depth and width are summarized. On this basis, combine the One-Shot Aggregation (OSA) idea and Cross-Stage Partial Network (CSPNet) transformation to construct a general lightweight detection network CSPOSA. Further specific optimization strategies are proposed to prune the network structure and training process. For the network structure, the width and depth of the network are adjusted, the amount of parameters of the model is compressed. The training process is divided into the first, middle and last three stages to improve the detection performance of the model without adding extra computation. Taking embedded platform helmet detection as the experimental scene, the parameter amount of the realized model is 1/10 of the mainstream models YOLOv3 and YOLOv4, and the detection accuracy is similar, so it is more suitable for deployment on devices with limited computing power. © 2022, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Extracting meaningful and coherent topics from short texts is an important task for many real world applications. Biterm topic model (BTM) is a popular topic model for short texts by explicitly model word co-occurrence patterns in the corpus level. However, BTM ignores the fact that a topic is usually described by a few words in a given corpus. In other words, the topic word distribution in topic model should be highly sparse. Understanding the sparsity in topic word distribution may get more coherent topics and improve the performance of BTM. In this paper, we propose a sparse biterm topic model (SparseBTM) which combines a spike and slab prior into BTM to explicitly model the topic sparsity. Experiments on two short texts datasets show that our model can get comparable topic coherent scores and higher classification and clustering performance than BTM.

Learning to navigate to an image-specified goal is an important but challenging task for autonomous systems. The agent is required to reason the goal location from where a picture is shot. Existing methods try to solve this problem by learning a navigation policy, which captures semantic features of the goal image and observation image independently and lastly fuses them for predicting a sequence of navigation actions. However, these methods suffer from two major limitations. 1) They may miss detailed information in the goal image, and thus fail to reason the goal location. 2) More critically, it is hard to focus on the goal-relevant regions in the observation image, because they attempt to understand observation without goal conditioning. In this paper, we aim to overcome these limitations by designing a Fine-grained Goal Prompting (FGPrompt) method for image-goal navigation. In particular, we leverage fine-grained and high-resolution feature maps in the goal image as prompts to perform conditioned embedding, which preserves detailed information in the goal image and guides the observation encoder to pay attention to goal-relevant regions. Compared with existing methods on the image-goal navigation benchmark, our method brings significant performance improvement on 3 benchmark datasets (i.e., Gibson, MP3D, and HM3D). Especially on Gibson, we surpass the state-of-the-art success rate by 8% with only 1/50 model size.
