Network topology planning is an essential multi-phase process to build and jointly optimize the multi-layer network topologies in wide-area networks (WANs). Most existing practices target single-phase/layer planning, and are incapable of satisfying all rigorous topological structure constraints (e.g., dual-homing rings) defined by network standards and operators, especially in large-scale networks. These significantly limit their usability and performance in production networks. We consider a general topology planning problem with typical structure constraints over three essential phases (greenfield, reconfiguration, and site expansion) and topological layers (optical, IP, and routing topologies). We present, T3Planner, a novel practical solver to this problem in production. Specifically, we develop a structure-driven encoder based on graph neural network (GNN) for concise structure encoding, and design a new learning framework with optical-centric layer compression/reconstruction and rule-aided reinforcement learning (RL) for fast convergence and high performance. Extensive experiments on nine real topologies demonstrate that T3Planner scales to large optical networks with hundreds of sites, saves 46.6% cost, and supports 3.12x more demand when compared to related existing approaches. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

Large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT have exhibited remarkable performance in generating human-like texts. However, machine-generated texts (MGTs) may carry critical risks, such as plagiarism issues, misleading information, or hallucination issues. Therefore, it is very urgent and important to detect MGTs in many situations. Unfortunately, it is challenging to distinguish MGTs and human-written texts because the distributional discrepancy between them is often very subtle due to the remarkable performance of LLMs. In this paper, we seek to exploit maximum mean discrepancy (MMD) to address this issue in the sense that MMD can well identify distributional discrepancies. However, directly training a detector with MMD using diverse MGTs will incur a significantly increased variance of MMD since MGTs may contain multiple text populations due to various LLMs. This will severely impair MMD's ability to measure the difference between two samples. To tackle this, we propose a novel multi-population aware optimization method for MMD called MMD-MP, which can avoid variance increases and thus improve the stability to measure the distributional discrepancy. Relying on MMD-MP, we develop two methods for paragraph-based and sentence-based detection, respectively. Extensive experiments on various LLMs, e.g., GPT2 and ChatGPT, show superior detection performance of our MMD-MP. An Evolutionary Multitasking Algorithm for Efficient Multiobjective Recommendations

Represented by evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence algorithms, nature-inspired metaheuristics have been successfully applied to recommender systems and amply demonstrated effectiveness, in particular, for multiobjective recommendation. Owing to the population-based search paradigm, these algorithms can produce a number of recommendation lists, making diverse tradeoffs between multiple metrics and meeting the requirements of accuracy, novelty, diversity, and other user preferences. However, these algorithms are criticized for the low efficiency of the optimization process, especially when the number of users is large. To address this issue, this article proposes an evolutionary multitasking-based recommendation method, where each task corresponds to a user and all the tasks are optimized simultaneously, thus highly improving the efficiency of recommendation. To enhance the convergence speed, all the users are divided into multiple populations according to the similarity between their preferences, where each population evolves with internal knowledge transfer between users, and all the populations evolve with external knowledge transfer between populations. Experimental results on various datasets verify that the proposed method can better balance between multiple metrics than classical and deep neural network-based recommendation methods and exhibits significantly higher efficiency than evolutionary multiobjective optimization-based recommendation methods. © 2024 IEEE. Test-time adaptation (TTA) has shown to be effective at tackling distribution shifts between training and testing data by adapting a given model on test samples. However, the online model updating of TTA may be unstable and this is often a key obstacle preventing existing TTA methods from being deployed in the real world. Specifically, TTA may fail to improve or even harm the model performance when test data have: 1) mixed distribution shifts, 2) small batch sizes, and 3) online imbalanced label distribution shifts, which are quite common in practice. In this paper, we investigate the unstable reasons and find that the batch norm layer is a crucial factor hindering TTA stability. Conversely, TTA can perform more stably with batch-agnostic norm layers, i.e., group or layer norm. However, we observe that TTA with group and layer norms does not always succeed and still suffers many failure cases. By digging into the failure cases, we find that certain noisy test samples with large gradients may disturb the model adaption and result in collapsed trivial solutions, i.e., assigning the same class label for all samples. To address the above collapse issue, we propose a sharpness-aware and reliable entropy minimization method, called SAR, for further stabilizing TTA from two aspects: 1) remove partial noisy samples with large gradients, 2) encourage model weights to go to a flat minimum so that the model is robust to the remaining noisy samples. Promising results demonstrate that SAR performs more stably over prior methods and is computationally efficient under the above wild test scenarios. Enhancing graph representation learning via type-aware decoupling and node influence allocation

The traditional graph representation methods can fit the information of graph with low-dimensional vectors, but they cannot interpret their composition, resulting in insufficient security. Graph decoupling, as a method of graph representation, can analyze the latent factors composing the graph representation vectors. However, in current graph decoupling methods, the number of factors is a hyperparameter, and enforce uniform decoupling vector dimensions which leads to information loss or redundancy. To address these issues, we propose a type-aware graph decoupling based on influence called Variational Graph Decoupling Auto-Encoder (VGDAE). It uses node labels as interpretable and objectively existing natural semantics for decoupling and allocates embedding space based on node influence, addressing the issues of manually setting the number of factors in traditional graph decoupling and the mismatch between node information size and embedding space. On the Cora, Citeseer, and fb-CMU datasets, VGDAE shows the impact of different node classes as decoupling targets on classification tasks. Furthermore, we perform visualization of the representations, VGDAE exhibits performance improvements of 2% in classification tasks and 12% in clustering tasks when compared with baseline models. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Visual question generation (VQG) task aims to generate high-quality questions based on the input image. Current methods primarily focus on generating questions containing specified content utilizing answers or question types as constraints. However, these constraints make it challenging to control the topic of generated questions (e.g., conversation or test subject topics) for various applications. Thus, it is necessary to utilize topics as constraints to guide question generation. Considering that there are many topics and it is almost impossible for human annotations to cover them, we propose the cross-topic learning VQG (CTL-VQG) task, which aims to generate questions related to unseen topics in cross-topic scenarios. In this paper, we propose a knowledge-guided cross-topic visual question generation (KC-VQG) model to extract unseen topic-related information for question generation. Specifically, an image-topic feature extractor is introduced in our model to extract topic-related intuitive visual features;an image-topic knowledge extractor is used to extract and select the most appropriate topic-related implicit knowledge from large language models for generating questions. Extensive experiments show that our model outperforms baselines and can effectively generate unseen topic-related questions in cross-topic scenarios. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

As the scale of the networks continually expands,the detection of distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks has become increasingly *** propose an intelligent detection model named IGED by using improved generalized entropy and deep neural network(DNN).The initial detection is based on improved generalized entropy to filter out as much normal traffic as possible,thereby reducing data *** the fine detection is based on DNN to perform precise DDoS detection on the filtered suspicious traffic,enhancing the neural network’s generalization *** results show that the proposed method can efficiently distinguish normal traffic from DDoS *** with the benchmark methods,our method reaches 99.9%on low-rate DDoS(LDDoS),flooded DDoS and CICDDoS2019 datasets in terms of both accuracy and efficiency in identifying attack flows while reducing the time by 17%,31%and 8%.

Reconstructing 3D clothed human involves creating a detailed geometry of individuals in clothing, with applications ranging from virtual try-on, movies, to games. To enable practical and widespread applications, recent ad-vances propose to generate a clothed human from an RGB image. However, they struggle to reconstruct detailed and robust avatars simultaneously. We empirically find that the high-frequency (HF) and low-frequency (LF) information from a parametric model has the potential to enhance geom-etry details and improve robustness to noise, respectively. Based on this, we propose HiLo, namely clothed human reconstruction with high- and low-frequency information, which contains two components. 1) To recover detailed ge-ometry using HF information, we propose a progressive HF Signed Distance Function to enhance the detailed 3D ge-ometry of a clothed human. We analyze that our progres-sive learning manner alleviates large gradients that hin-der model convergence. 2) To achieve robust reconstruction against inaccurate estimation of the parametric model by using LF information, we propose a spatial interaction implicit function. This function effectively exploits the com-plementary spatial information from a low-resolution voxel grid of the parametric model. Experimental results demon-strate that HiLo outperforms the state-of-the-art methods by 10.43% and 9.54% in terms of Chamfer distance on the Thuman2.0 and CAPE datasets, respectively. By incorporating the latest external knowledge, large language models (LLMs) can modify their internal memory. However, in practical applications, LLMs may encounter outdated information, necessitating the filtering of such data and updating of knowledge beyond internal memory. This paper explores whether LLMs can selectively update their memories based on the time constraints between internal memory and external knowledge. We evaluate existing LLMs using three types of data that exhibit different time constraints. Our experimental results reveal the challenges most LLMs face with time-constrained knowledge and highlight the differences in how various LLMs handle such information. Additionally, to address the difficulties LLMs encounter in understanding time constraints, we propose a two-stage decoupling framework that separates the identification and computation of time constraint into a symbolic system. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework yields an improvement of over 60% in ChatGPT's performance, and achieves a 12-24% enhancement in state-of-the-art LLM GPT-4. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

In accelerated MRI reconstruction problem, directly recovering all the missing k-space data from undersampled measurements is highly ill-posed and often leads to suboptimal performance. To address the problem, we propose a novel deep unfolding network (DUN) with subsampling decomposition (SD) based k-space refinement to mitigate the ill-posedness. Our method employs a parallel network architecture with a primary branch unfolded by gradient descent-inspired optimization process (GD-PB) for reconstruction. Additionally, we introduce an SD-based auxiliary branch (SD-AB) that decompose the inverse problem into moderately corrupted subproblems. We design a novel subsampling mask predictor that captures both global and local spatial correlations in k-space, ensuring the SD-AB effectively preserves the most well-reconstructed subsets as reliable region (RR). The RR in SD-AB is used to periodically refine the intermediate outputs of the GD-PB, achieving improved accuracy. Experimental results reveal that our method significantly outperforms conventional and SD-based DUN techniques, achieving superior PSNR and SSIM results compared with cutting-edge methods. © 2025 IEEE.
