The performance of various tasks of natural language processing has greatly improved with the emergence of large language models. However, there is still much room for improvement in understanding certain specific linguistic phenomena, such as Chinese idioms, which are usually composed of four characters. Chinese idioms are difficult to understand due to semantic gaps between their literal and actual meanings. Researchers have proposed the Chinese idiom reading comprehension task to examine the ability of large language models to represent and understand Chinese idioms. The task requires choosing the correct Chinese idiom from a list of candidates to complete the sentence. The current research mainly focuses on text-based idiom comprehension. Nevertheless, there are many idiom application scenarios that combine images and text, and we believe that the corresponding images are beneficial for the model’s understanding of the idioms. Therefore, to address the above problems, we first construct a large-scale Multimodal Chinese Idiom Reading Comprehension dataset (MChIRC), which contains a total of 44,433 image-text pairs covering 2,926 idioms. Then, we propose a Dual-Contrastive Idiom Graph Network (DCIGN), which employs a dual-contrastive learning module to align the text and image features corresponding to the same Chinese idiom at both coarse and fine levels, while utilizing a graph structure to capture the semantic relationships between idiom candidates. Finally, we use a cross-attention module to fuse multimodal features with graph features of candidate idioms to predict correct answers. The authoritativeness of MChIRC and the effectiveness of DCIGN are demonstrated through a variety of experiments, which provides a new benchmark for the multimodal Chinese idiom reading comprehension task. © 2025, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***). Fake news often spreads rapidly on social media in various forms, exposing users to a large amount of misinformation and disinformation. Recently, promising results have been achieved in fake news detection. However, most of the approaches only consider one-hop neighborhood information in cross-modal mapping relationships or focus mainly on pairwise interactions of multimodal fake news. However, the fine-grained feature mapping of multimodal fake news may go beyond binary relations. To address these issues, we propose a Multi-Hop Attention Diffusion Graph Neural Networks in this work to capture and complement the multivariate mapping relationships between fine-grained features, while extracting cross-modal higher-order alignment representations for multimodal fake news detection via cross-modal contrastive learning and modal matching. Extensive experiments on three public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in the multimodal fake news detection task.

—Implementing fine-grained emotion control is crucial for emotion generation tasks because it enhances the expressive capability of the generative model, allowing it to accurately and comprehensively capture and express various nuanced emotional states, thereby improving the emotional quality and personalization of generated content. Generating fine-grained facial animations that accurately portray emotional expressions using only a portrait and an audio recording presents a challenge. In order to address this challenge, we propose a visual attribute-guided audio decoupler. This enables the obtention of content vectors solely related to the audio content, enhancing the stability of subsequent lip movement coefficient predictions. To achieve more precise emotional expression, we introduce a fine-grained emotion coefficient prediction module. Additionally, we propose an emotion intensity control method using a fine-grained emotion matrix. Through these, effective control over emotional expression in the generated videos and finer classification of emotion intensity are accomplished. Subsequently, a series of 3DMM coefficient generation networks are designed to predict 3D coefficients, followed by the utilization of a rendering network to generate the final video. Our experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method, EmoSpeaker, outperforms existing emotional talking face generation methods in terms of expression variation and lip synchronization. Task-oriented point cloud sampling methods have attracted considerable attention for their ability to adaptively select important point sets based on downstream tasks, achieving an excellent balance between data simplification and task performance. However, existing task-oriented sampling models, primarily based on single-branch designs, struggle to fully extract features from input point clouds that comprehensively reflect multi-dimensional key information, thus limiting their sampling performance. In this paper, we introduce a dual-branch sampling network, named DBS-NET, which conducts crucial point sampling from both the global and local importance perspectives separately before merging them, thereby preserving multi-dimensional key information of the input data during the sampling process. Qualitative and quantitative experimental results demonstrate the competitive performance of DBS-NET on the classification benchmark task.

Exploration of Class Center for Fine-Grained Visual Classification

Different from large-scale classification tasks, fine-grained visual classification is a challenging task due to two critical problems: 1) evident intra-class variances and subtle inter-class differences, and 2) overfitting owing to fewer training samples in datasets. Most existing methods extract key features to reduce intra-class variances, but pay no attention to subtle inter-class differences in fine-grained visual classification. To address this issue, we propose a loss function named exploration of class center, which consists of a multiple class-center constraint and a class-center label generation. This loss function fully utilizes the information of the class center from the perspective of features and labels. From the feature perspective, the multiple class-center constraint pulls samples closer to the target class center, and pushes samples away from the most similar nontarget class center. Thus, the constraint reduces intra-class variances and enlarges inter-class differences. From the label perspective, the class-center label generation utilizes class-center distributions to generate soft labels to alleviate overfitting. Our method can be easily integrated with existing fine-grained visual classification approaches as a loss function, to further boost excellent performance with only slight training costs. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate consistent improvements achieved by our method on four widely-used fine-grained visual classification datasets. Existing smart contract vulnerability identification approaches mainly focus on complete program detection. Consequently, lots of known potentially vulnerable locations need manual verification, which is energy-exhaustive and error-prone. Fuzzing is an effective way to detect vulnerabilities. However, current fuzzers cannot effectively probe these suspicious targets because they overlook two key factors: exploring all paths toward the targets and providing high-quality directed seed inputs. This paper presents a Directed vulnerability veriFier (DFier), elaborating effective transaction sequences with directed inputs for the fuzzer, to focus on analyzing target paths and automatically detect whether the given locations are vulnerable. Specifically, DFier fuses the effectiveness of static analysis and the efficiency of fuzzing. The static analysis helps locate target paths and generate directed inputs for the fuzzer under three heuristic strategies. The first prefers inputs with the larger possibility of triggering potential vulnerabilities based on target features. The second guides the value mutation to satisfy the path constraints. The third adequately leverages execution information to help find exploits faster. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DFier is effective in verifying contract security, compared with three existing contract fuzzers (i.e., contractFuzzer, sFuzz, and conFuzzius). LES-Talker: Fine-Grained Emotion Editing for Talking Head Generation in Linear Emotion Space

While existing one-shot talking head generation models have achieved progress in coarse-grained emotion editing, there is still a lack of fine-grained emotion editing models with high interpretability. We argue that for an approach to be considered fine-grained, it needs to provide clear definitions and sufficiently detailed differentiation. We present LES-Talker, a novel one-shot talking head generation model with high interpretability, to achieve fine-grained emotion editing across emotion types, emotion levels, and facial units. We propose a Linear Emotion Space (LES) definition based on Facial Action Units to characterize emotion transformations as vector transformations. We design the Cross-Dimension Attention Net (CDAN) to deeply mine the correlation between LES representation and 3D model representation. Through mining multiple relationships across different feature and structure dimensions, we enable LES representation to guide the controllable deformation of 3D model. In order to adapt the multimodal data with deviations to the LES and enhance visual quality, we utilize specialized network design and training strategies. Experiments show that our method provides high visual quality along with multilevel and interpretable fine-grained emotion editing, outperforming mainstream methods. Emotion recognition in conversation (ERC) aims at accurately identifying emotional states expressed in conversational content. Existing ERC methods, although relying on semantic understanding, often encounter challenges when confronted with incomplete or misleading semantic information. In addition, when dealing with the interaction between emotional and semantic information, existing methods are often difficult to effectively distinguish the complex relationship between the two, which affects the accuracy of emotion recognition. To address the problems of semantic misdirection and emotional cross-talk encountered by traditional models when confronted with complex conversational data, we propose a semantic and emotional dual channel (SEDC) strategy for emotion recognition in conversations to process emotional and semantic information independently. Under this strategy, emotion information provides an auxiliary recognition function when the semantics are unclear or lacking, enhancing the accuracy of the model. Our model consists of two modules: the emotion processing module accurately captures the emotional features of each utterance through contrastive learning, and then constructs a dialogue emotion propagation map to simulate the emotional information conveyed in the dialogue;the semantic processing module combines an external knowledge base to enhance the semantic expression of the dialogue through knowledge enhancement strategies. This divide-and-conquer approach allows us to more deeply analyze the emotional and semantic dimensions of complex dialogues. Experimental results on the IEMOCAP, EmoryNLP, MELD, and DailyDialog datasets show that our approach significantly outperforms existing techniques and effectively improves the accuracy of dialogue emotion recognition. DFGET: Displacement-Field Assisted Graph Energy Transmitter for Gland Instance Segmentation

Gland instance segmentation is an essential but challenging task in the diagnosis and treatment of adenocarcinoma. The existing models usually achieve gland instance segmentation through multi-task learning and boundary loss constraint. However, how to deal with the problems of gland adhesion and inaccurate boundary in segmenting the complex samples remains a challenge. In this work, we propose a displacement-field assisted graph energy transmitter (DFGET) framework to solve these problems. Specifically, a novel message passing manner based on anisotropic diffusion is developed to update the node features, which can distinguish the isomorphic graphs and improve the expressivity of graph nodes for complex samples. Using such graph framework, the gland semantic segmentation map and the displacement field (DF) of the graph nodes are estimated with two graph network branches. With the constraint of DF, a graph cluster module based on diffusion theory is presented to improve the intra-class feature consistency and inter-class feature discrepancy, as well as to separate the adherent glands from the semantic segmentation maps. Extensive comparison and ablation experiments on the GlaS dataset demonstrate the superiority of DFGET and effectiveness of the proposed anisotropic message passing manner and clustering method. Compared to the best comparative model, DFGET increases the object-Dice and object-F1 score by 2.5% and 3.4% respectively, while decreases the object-HD by 32.4%, achieving state-of-the-art performance. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Multi-Scale Multi-Target Domain Adaptation for Angle Closure Classification

Deep learning (DL) has made significant progress in angle closure classification with anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) images. These AS-OCT images are often acquired by different imaging devices/conditions, which results in a vast change of underlying data distributions (called "data domains"). Moreover, due to practical labeling difficulties, some domains (e.g., devices) may not have any data labels. As a result, deep models trained on one specific domain (e.g., a specific device) are difficult to adapt to and thus may perform poorly on other domains (e.g., other devices). To address this issue, we present a multi-target domain adaptation paradigm to transfer a model trained on one labeled source domain to multiple unlabeled target domains. Specifically, we propose a novel Multi-scale Multi-target Domain Adversarial Network (M2DAN) for angle closure classification. M2DAN conducts multi-domain adversarial learning for extracting domain-invariant features and develops a multi-scale module for capturing local and global information of AS-OCT images. Based on these domain-invariant features at different scales, the deep model trained on the source domain is able to classify angle closure on multiple target domains even without any annotations in these domains.
