Contrastive learning (CL)-based self-supervised learning models learn visual representations in a pairwise manner. Although the prevailing CL model has achieved great progress, in this paper, we uncover an ever-overlooked phenomenon: When the CL model is trained with full images, the performance tested in full images is better than that in foreground areas;when the CL model is trained with foreground areas, the performance tested in full images is worse than that in foreground areas. This observation reveals that backgrounds in images may interfere with the model learning semantic information and their influence has not been fully eliminated. To tackle this issue, we build a Structural Causal Model (SCM) to model the background as a confounder. We propose a backdoor adjustment-based regularization method, namely Interventional Contrastive Learning with Meta Semantic Regularizer (ICL-MSR), to perform causal intervention towards the proposed SCM. ICL-MSR can be incorporated into any existing CL methods to alleviate background distractions from representation learning. Theoretically, we prove that ICL-MSR achieves a tighter error bound. Empirically, our experiments on multiple benchmark datasets demonstrate that ICL-MSR is able to improve the performances of different state-of-the-art CL methods. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Because social networks have become a vital part of people's lives, cyberbullying becomes the most common risk encountered by young people on social networking platforms and raised serious concerns in society. Over the past few decades, most existing work on cyberbullying has focused on text analysis. Yet, the cyberbullying develops into multi-objective, multi-channel, and multi-form. Traditional text analysis methods cannot satisfy the diversity of bullying data in social networks. To deal with the new type of cyberbullying, we propose a multi-modal detection framework that takes into multi-modal information(e.g., image, video, comments, time) on social networks. Specifically, we not only extract textual features but also use the hierarchical attention networks to capture the session feature in social networks and encode several media information(e.g., video, image). Based on these features, we model the multi-modal cyberbullying detection framework to solve the new form of cyberbullying. Experimental analysis on two real-world datasets shows that our framework outperforms several existing state-of-the-art models.

Many automated commit message generation (CMG) approaches have been proposed for facilitating the understanding of software changes. They are shown to be promising and can generate commit messages that are semantically relevant to the reference messages for a number of commits. However, a large proportion (over 50%) of semantically irrelevant commit messages are also generated simultaneously. Such messages may mislead developers, require additional efforts of developers to confirm and filter out, and hinder the application of existing CMG approaches in practice. For tackling this problem, prior work mainly focuses on proposing new methods to improve the generation accuracy. However, another promising way for bridging the gap between CMG approaches and the practice has not been well investigated, which is: can we automatically assure the semantic relevance of the generated messages?To that end, in this work, we propose an automated Quality A ssurance framework for commit message generation (QAcom). QAcom can assure the quality of generated commit messages by automatically filtering out the semantically-irrelevant generated messages and preserving the semantically-relevant ones as many as possible. In particular, QAcom consists of a Collaborative-Filtering-based (CF) component and a Retrieval-based (RE) component. Given a commit message generated by a CMG approach, QAcom estimates whether this generated message is semantically relevant to its ground truth, which is unknown when estimating, based on both the collaborative filtering algorithm and the similarity between this commit and historical commits. We evaluate the effectiveness of QAcom by "plugging" it in three state-of-the-art CMG approaches. Experimental results on three public datasets show that QAcom can effectively filter out semantically-irrelevant generated messages and preserve semantically-relevant ones.

Hybrid attention network based on progressive embedding scale-context for crowd counting

The existing crowd counting methods usually adopted attention mechanism to tackle background noise, or applied multi-level features or multi-scales context fusion to tackle scale variation. However, these ap- proaches deal with these two problems separately. In this paper, we propose an Hybrid Attention Network (HAN) by employing Progressive Embedding Scale-context (PES) information, which enables the network to simultaneously suppress noise and adapt head scale variation. We build the hybrid attention mechanism through paralleling spatial attention and channel attention module, which makes the network to focus more on the human head area and reduce the interference of background objects. Besides, we embed certain scale-context to the hybrid attention along the spatial and channel dimensions for alleviating these count- ing errors caused by the variation of perspective and head scale. Finally, we propose a progressive learning strategy through cascading multiple hybrid attention modules with embedding diαerent scale-context, which can gradually integrate diαerent scale-context information into the current feature map from global to local. Ablation experiments provides that the network architecture can gradually learn multi-scale features and suppress background noise. Extensive experiments demonstrate that HANet obtain state-of-the-art counting performance on four mainstream datasets. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The electroencephalogram (EEG) serves as a significant tool in the realms of clinical medicine, cerebral investigation, and neurological disorders research. However, the EEG records we obtain are often easily contaminated by various artifacts, which can blur or distort the underlying EEG signals and make data interpretation difficult. Generally speaking, removing EEG artifacts is considered an essential step in brain signal analysis. Therefore, removing artifacts is crucial for obtaining accurate and reliable EEG signals for subsequent analysis. Recently, deep learning techniques have found widespread application across various domains for denoising tasks, including image denoising and EEG denoising. Many advanced algorithms have been developed in image denoising, which has achieved good results in enhancing low-quality images. Moreover, it has shown superior performance in EEG denoising. In contrast, few people have devoted themselves to studying EEG denoising, and existing convolutional neural network EEG denoising methods still have problems of overfitting and poor denoising effect in Electromyograph(EMG) and ElectroOculoGram(EOG) artifact removal. Therefore, this paper proposes a method called DWINet (De-artifacting with Image-based Network for EEG Signals) based on an image dehazing network DRHNet for removing artifacts from EEG signals. Specifically, our approach DWINet, addresses the de-artifacting issue in EEG signals by converting it as an image dehazing problem and utilizes the image dehazing capability of DRHNet to enhance the denoising performance of EEG signals. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the compared algorithms in removing the ocular artifact in EEG signals and exhibits higher accuracy and robustness. © 2024, J. Plot-based Graphic API recommendation (Plot2API) is an unstudied but meaningful issue, which has several important applications in the context of software engineering and data visualization, such as the plotting guidance of the beginner, graphic API correlation analysis, and code conversion for plotting. Plot2API is a very challenging task, since each plot is often associated with multiple APIs and the appearances of the graphics drawn by the same API can be extremely varied due to the different settings of the parameters. Additionally, the samples of different APIs also suffer from extremely *** the lack of technologies in Plot2API, we present a novel deep multi-task learning approach named Semantic Parsing Guided Neural Network (SPGNN) which translates the Plot2API issue as a multi-label image classification and an image semantic parsing tasks for the solution. In SPGNN, the recently advanced Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) named EfficientNet is employed as the backbone network for API recommendation. Meanwhile, a semantic parsing module is complemented to exploit the semantic relevant visual information in feature learning and eliminate the appearance-relevant visual information which may confuse the visual-information-based API recommendation. Moreover, the recent data augmentation technique named random erasing is also applied for alleviating the imbalance of API *** collect plots with the graphic APIs used to drawn them from Stack Overflow, and release three new Plot2API datasets corresponding to the graphic APIs of R and Python programming languages for evaluating the effectiveness of Plot2API techniques. Extensive experimental results not only demonstrate the superiority of our method over the recent deep learning baselines but also show the practicability of our method in the recommendation of graphic APIs.

Dual-domain decoupled fusion network for semantic segmentation of remote sensing images

Semantic segmentation of remote sensing images (RSIs) is a challenging task due to the complexity of spatial structures, diverse object scales, and heterogeneous land-cover patterns. Traditional approaches often struggle to effectively balance fine-grained boundary details and global contextual understanding, especially for high-resolution images. In this paper, we propose DDFNet, a novel dual-domain decoupled fusion network, to address these challenges. DDFNet integrates spatial and frequency domain features through a dynamic decoupling and fusion strategy. Specifically, we introduce a Dual-Domain Decoupled Feature Fusion (DDFF) module that selectively combines high- and low-frequency components from both domains, enabling the model to capture local textures and global semantics. To further enhance segmentation accuracy, we design a High-Order Geometric Prior Generation (HGPG) module, which utilizes gradient and curvature information to improve boundary precision and maintain geometric consistency. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets — ISPRS Vaihingen, ISPRS Potsdam, and LoveDA — demonstrate that DDFNet achieves state-of-the-art performance. Ablation studies validate the contributions of the DDFF and HGPG modules, and efficiency analysis shows DDFNet’s strong adaptability to different computational constraints.

In the mobile network, user can share their trip stories at any time and place, the massive user data can provides an opportunity to mining users' travel preferences. Tourism recommendation has been studied by lots of researchers, although they took into account the social relation of users and the need of travelers, but if multi-dimensional social information and the seasonality of tourism service are considered, it may lead to better personality efficiency for tourism recommendation system. In this paper, we propose a novel personalized tourism service recommendation model termed GA-LSTM-CSInf, which fused multi-modality travel information include the multi-dimensional social information, time series and tourism service category. The main work is listed as follows:(1)we combined genetic algorithm (GA) and LSTM network for predicting the popularity and score of tourism service.(2) Considering the multi-dimensional social information of users in social networks, we proposed the Explicit Social Influence (ExSoInf) and the Implicit Social Influence (ImSoInf) of users, and then integrated them into SVD algorithm.(3) Calculating user preferences for tourism service categories using matrix factorization technology. And then, the calculation results of the three methods are weighted and summed to obtain a fusion tourism service recommendation algorithm (GA-LSTM-CSInf). We conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation for our fusion recommendation algorithm using real-world dataset collected from Yelp. Experimental results show that our method achieves significantly superior recommendation quality compared to other state of art recommendation methods. © 2019 IEEE.

Dizygotic Conditional Variational AutoEncoder for multi-modal and partial modality absent few-shot learning

data augmentation is a powerful technique for improving the performance of the few-shot classification task. It generates more samples as supplements, and then this task can be transformed into a common supervised learning issue for solution. However, most mainstream data augmentation based approaches only consider the single modality information, which leads to the low diversity and quality of generated features. In this paper, we present a novel multi-modal data augmentation approach named Dizygotic Conditional Variational AutoEncoder (DCVAE) for addressing the aforementioned issue. DCVAE conducts feature synthesis via pairing two Conditional Variational AutoEncoders (CVAEs) with the same seed but different modality conditions in a dizygotic symbiosis manner. Subsequently, the generated features of two CVAEs are adaptively combined to yield the final feature, which can be converted back into its paired conditions while ensuring these conditions are consistent with the original conditions not only in representation but also in function. DCVAE essentially provides a new idea of data augmentation in various multi-modal scenarios by exploiting the complement of different modality prior information. Extensive experimental results demonstrate our work achieves state-of-the-art performances on miniImageNet, CIFAR-FS and CUB datasets, and is able to work well in the partial modality absence case. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

Nasotracheal intubation is a crucial emergency procedure that can improve the survival rate of injured patients. Compared to orotracheal intubation, nasotracheal intubation offers greater stability and comfort. However, due to the large curvature of the cavity, the procedure is highly challenging and requires skilled medical staff, which can be a shortage in emergencies and delay patient rescue. To solve this problem, a flexible and portable robot for nasotracheal intubation has been developed in this paper. The robot incorporates a continuum catheter, allowing the shape of the endotracheal tube’s distal section to be controllable and making it easier to pass through the nasal cavity into the trachea. An endoscope is integrated into the distal section of the catheter to make the intubation process more intuitive, allowing doctors to observe the injuries through endoscopic images and adjust the treatment plan. Additionally, the robot is designed with a quick-detachable structure, enabling aseptic and low-cost intubation procedures. The structure and circuitry of the robot are designed for portability, with a smaller size and lower power consumption, which can work for a long time just powered by batteries. Finally, experiments on a mannequin validate that the robotic system effectively reduces the difficulty of tracheal intubation, enabling even non-medically trained operators to complete the procedure with the assistance of the robot.
