In this paper, a new reinforcement learning-based model-free adaptive control algorithm is introduced for discrete-time nonlinear multi-agent systems with unknown dynamics, while the equivalent dynamic linearization algorithm is applied to design the optimal controller. The strategy for Q-Learning and the actor-critic neural network are specifically redesigned to achieve consensus control in multi-agent systems. The proposed reinforcement learning algorithm can adjust the dynamic linearization parameters in real-time only based on input and output data. The stability of the closed-loop system is proven by Lyapunov theorem. Furthermore, the method’s effectiveness is verified by a numerical simulation.

Detection of stealthy false data injection attacks against networked control systems via active data modification

This paper investigates the design and detection problems of stealthy false data injection (FDI) attacks against networked control systems from the different perspectives of an attacker and a defender, respectively. First, a Kalman filter-based output tracking control system is presented, where stealthy FDI attacks are designed for its feedback and forward channels so as to destroy the system performance while bypassing a traditional residual-based detector. Second, to successfully detect such two-channel stealthy attacks, an active data modification scheme is proposed, by which the measurement and control data are amended before transmitting them through communication networks. Theoretical analysis is then carried out for both ideal and practical cases to evaluate the effectiveness of the detection scheme. An interesting finding is that the attacks designed based on a false model obtained from those modified data can remain stealthy. Finally, simulation results are provided to validate the proposed attack design and detection schemes.

Wireless communication using chaotic baseband waveform

Some new properties of the chaotic signal have been implemented in communication system applications recently. They include: (i) chaos is proven to be the optimal communication waveform in the sense of very simple matched filter being used to achieve maximum signal to noise ratio;(ii) the amount of information contained in a chaotic signal is unaltered by a wireless multipath channel;and (iii) chaos property can be used to resist multipath effect. All these support the application of chaos in a practical communication system. However, due to the broadband property of the chaotic signal, it is very difficult for a practical transducer or antenna to convert such a broadband signal into a signal that would be suitable for practical band-limited wireless channel. Thus, the use of chaos property to improve the performance of conventional communication system without changing the system configuration becomes a critical issue in communication with chaos. In this paper, chaotic baseband waveform generated by a chaotic shaping filter is used to show that this difficulty can be overcome. The generated continuous-time chaotic waveform is proven to be topologically conjugate to a symbolic sequence, allowing the encoding of arbitrary information sequence into the chaotic waveform. A finite impulse response filter is used to replace the impulse control in order to encode information into the chaotic signal, simplifying the algorithm for high speed communication. A wireless communication system is being proposed using the chaotic signal as the baseband waveform, which is compatible with the general wireless communication platform. The matched filter and decoding method, using chaos properties, enhance the communication system performance. The Bit Error Rate (BER) and computational complexity performances of the proposed wireless communication system are analyzed and compared with the conventional wireless systems. Open-/Closed-loop Active Learning for Data-driven Predictive control

An important question in data-driven control is how to obtain an informative dataset. In this work, we consider the problem of effective data acquisition of an unknown linear system with bounded disturbance for both open-loop and closed-loop stages. The learning objective is to minimize the volume of the set of admissible systems. First, a performance measure based on historical data and the input sequence is introduced to characterize the upper bound of the volume of the set of admissible systems. On the basis of this performance measure, an open-loop active learning strategy is proposed to minimize the volume by actively designing inputs during the open-loop stage. For the closed-loop stage, an closed-loop active learning strategy is designed to select and learn from informative closed-loop data. The efficiency of the proposed closed-loop active learning strategy is proved by showing that the unselected data cannot benefit the learning performance. Furthermore, an adaptive predictive controller is designed in accordance with the proposed data acquisition approach. The recursive feasibility and the stability of the controller are proved by analyzing the effect of the closed-loop active learning strategy. Finally, numerical examples and comparisons illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed data acquisition strategy. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Czochralski（Cz） silicon single crystal growth is a dynamic time-varying process with complex physical changes,multi-phase coupling of multiple fields, model uncertainty and large hysteresis and nonlinearity, while mechanistic models based on a large number of assumptions are difficult to be applied practically. In order to establish a stable and reliable model of crystal growth process, this paper proposes a variational modal decomposition--convolutional neural network-long and short-term memory network-extreme learning machine（VMD-CNN-LSTM-ELM） nonlinear hybrid integrated modeling method based on the idea of data-driven modeling to construct a model between heater power and thermal field temperature. The model consists of feature extraction, deep learning network, and optimization algorithm. First, VMD is used to decompose the original data into multiple Intrinsic Mode Function（IMF） from low to high frequencies, preserving the variation characteristics of the signal at different frequencies. Second, for each eigenmode function sequence, CNN feature extraction and LSTM prediction are performed in turn. Then, ELM is used to nonlinearly integrate the prediction results of multiple sequences to obtain the final prediction output. Finally, the simulation experimental results based on industrial data show that the proposed VMD-LSTMELM based thermal field temperature has excellent prediction performance and generalization ability.

Radio-wave communication with chaos

The invariance of the Lyapunov exponent of a chaotic signal as it propagates along a wireless transmission channel provides a theoretical base for the application of chaos in wireless communication. In additive Gaussian channel, the chaotic signal is proved to be the optimal coherent communication waveform in the sense of using the very simple matched filter to obtain the maximum signal-to-noise ratio. The properties of chaos can be used to reduce simply and effectively the Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) and to achieve low bit error rate in the wireless communication system. However, chaotic signals need very wide bandwidth to be transmitted in the practical channel, which is difficult for the practical transducer or antenna to convert such a broad band signal. To solve this problem, in this work, the chaotic signal is applied to a radio-wave communication system, and the corresponding coding and decoding algorithms are proposed. A hybrid chaotic system is used as the pulse-shaping filter to obtain the baseband signal, and the corresponding matched filter is used at the receiver, instead of the conventional low-pass filter, to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio. At the same time, the symbol judgment threshold determined by the chaos property is used to reduce the Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) effect. Simulations and virtual channel experiments show that the radio-wave communication system using chaos obtains lower bit error rate in the multi-path transmission channel compared with the traditional radio-wave communication system using Binary Phase Shift keying (BPSK) modulation technology and channel equalization. This paper presents an improved target tracking algorithm based on the differential evolution particle filter (DEPF) in order to solve the problem of particle degeneracy. In this method, the mutation, crossover and selection steps of the differential evolution are introduced into the particle filter, which optimizes the particle sampling process. Particles are moved towards regions where they are close to the value of the posterior density function through DEPF algorithm, and it improves the estimation precision, inhibits the particle degeneracy and enhances the diversity of the particles. The target observation model based on the color feature is constructed simultaneously in the algorithm, and the method of the target model update in different states is also studied. The experimental results show that the target even in attitude change and occlusion can be tracked accurately and real-timely with the DEPF algorithm. The proposed algorithm has higher tracking accuracy and is robust. © 2011 Chinese Assoc of Automation.

In this paper, a new strategy based on impulsive control model of high speed roller is proposed. To make the roller hit the specified target, the strategy is summarized as an optimal control model calculating required number of impulses, the igniting time and phase of each impulse, and also an improved Differential Evolution (DE) Algorithm is adopted to resolve. It is too difficult to solve the orderliness of igniting time by Basic DE, so a Mapping Differential Evolution Algorithm (MDE) is proposed, which maps the sorting time variables to random coefficient range [0,1]. In addition, a DE with self-adapting parameter is used to accelerate the convergence rate. Simulation results show the high accuracy of high speed roller with the method. © 2011 Chinese Assoc of Automati.

Aiming at the complex nonlinear dynamic time-varying characteristics for Czochralski（Cz） silicon single crystal growth process and the difficulty in modeling and controlling the crystal diameter by conventional mechanisms, based on the idea of data-driven modeling and control, this paper proposes an improved model-free sliding mode iterative learning control（MFA-SMILC） method. First, a data-driven model of crystal diameter is established using an extreme learning machine（ELM）with actual process data;Then, based on the compact-format dynamic linear（CFDL） data model, a discrete sliding mode control algorithm is used to design a data-driven controller structure for crystal diameters, and the stability of the iterative tracking error is verified by the stability analysis;Finally, the proposed MFA-SMILC controller is applied to silicon single crystal diameter control, and compared with the conventional model-free adaptive iterative learning control（MFA-ILC）, it is found that MFASMILC has faster response speed and convergence speed, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) plays an important role in autonomous navigation for mobile robots. Most of the visual SLAM approaches use keypoints for tracking, whose performance however suffers from the unstable landmarks during task due to uncertain light condition and frequently changeable viewpoint. The situation even becomes worse for visual SLAM in low texture environment especially in indoor buildings, where the supplementary artificial markers can be used to improve the robust detection under a wider range of circumstances. Inspired by this thought, this paper developed a visual SLAM system integrated with keypoints and artificial markers. A graph optimization problem is constructed to optimize the trajectory by taking both the reprojection error of keypoints and the influence of markers into consideration. The experimental results on SPM dataset demonstrate the superior accuracy of the proposed graph optimization algorithm compared with the start-of-the-art ORB-SLAM2.
