In this article, we introduce a time-delay approach to gradient-based extremum seeking (ES) in the continuous domain for n-dimensional (nD) static quadratic maps. As in the recently introduced (for 2D maps in the continuous domain), we transform the system to the time-delay one (neutral type system). This system is $\mathbf{O}(\varepsilon)$ . ‘perturbation of the averaged linear ODE system. We further explicitly present the neutral system as the linear ODE, where $\mathrm{O}(\varepsilon)$ -terms are considered as disturbances with distributed delays of the length of the small parameter $\varepsilon$ . Quantitative (for uncertain map) and qualitative (for unknown map) practical stability analyses are provided by employing a variation of constants formula that greatly simplifies the results compared to the previously used Lyapunov-Krasovskii (L-K) method. The new approach also simplifies the conditions and improves the results. Examples from the literature illustrate the efficiency of the new approach, allowing essentially large uncertainty of the Hessian matrix with bounds on $\varepsilon$ that are not too small.

The current SAR image target detection mainly focuses on single category target detection problem in single task scenario, and no research has been conducted on multi-category target detection in different scenarios. YOLO is widely used in target detection tasks because of its speed and accuracy. In this paper, the YOLOv3, YOLOv5 and YOLOv8 algorithms, which have better detection performance and are more widely used, are used to perform target detection on the SAR image multi-category target detection dataset MSAR-1.0, and the detection results are analyzed from both the SAR image multi-category target detection dataset and the YOLO algorithm.

Federated learning is a distributed training method that integrates multi-party data information using privacy-preserving technologies through dispersed client data sets to jointly construct a global model under the coordination of a central server. However, in practical applications, there is a high degree of data distribution skewness among clients, which causes the optimization direction of the client models to diverge, resulting in model bias and reducing the accuracy of the global model. Existing methods require the calculation and transmission of much information to correct the optimization direction of the client models, or only roughly limit the deviation of the client models end-to-end, ignoring targeted processing of the internal structure of the model, resulting in unclear improvement effects. To address these problems, we propose a federated optimization algorithm FedECCR based on encoding contrast and classification correction. This algorithm divides the model into an encoder and a classifier. It utilizes prototype contrastive training of the model encoder and unbiased classification correction of the classifier. This approach notably improves the accuracy of the global model while maintaining low communication costs. We conducted experiments on multiple data sets to evaluate the validity of our method, and the quantified results showed that FedECCR can improve the global model classification accuracy by approximately 1% to 6% compared to FedAvg, FedProx, and MOON. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2024.

Mapping anthropogenic emissions in China at 1 km spatial resolution and its application in air quality modeling

New challenges are emerging in fine-scale air quality modeling in China due to a lack of high-resolution emission ***,only a few emission sources have accurate geographic locations(point sources),while a large part of sources,including industrial plants,are estimated as provincial totals(area sources)and spatially disaggregated onto grid cells based on proxies;this approach is reasonable to some extent but is highly questionable at fine spatial ***,we compile a new comprehensive point source database that includes nearly 100,000 industrial facilities in *** couple it with the frame of Multi-resolution Emission Inventory for China(MEIC),estimate point source emissions,combine point and area sources,and finally map China’s anthropogenic emissions of 2013 at the spatial resolution of 30’’*30’’(~1 km).Consequently,the percentages of point source emissions in the total emissions increase from less than 30%in the MEIC up to a maximum of 84%for SO_(2)in *** new point source-based emission maps show the uncoupled distribution of emissions and populations in space at fine spatial scales,however,such a pattern cannot be reproduced by any spatial proxy used in the conventional emissions *** new accurate high-resolution emission mapping approach reduces the modeled biases of air pollutant concentrations in the densely populated areas compared to the raw MEIC inventory,thus improving the assessment of population exposure.

Large-scale equipment presents the characteristics of technology-intensive, knowledge-intensive and complex, which brings high investment and high risk to equipment acquisition. This paper analyzes the various components of equipment acquisition to fully apply modeling and simulation technology to each stage of it. On the basis of multi-objective optimization theory, the objective function of the lowest risk and lowest cost of simulation-based acquisition (SBA) is proposed. Then establishing a multi-objective optimization model for simulation-based acquisition according to the corresponding constraints. The nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA II) and multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithms are used to optimize the model, and the majority voting method is used for integration. The comparison of simulation examples proves that the multi-objective optimization model oriented to SBA designed in this paper can effectively realize the optimization of each objective of SBA under cost constraints. And the feasibility and efficiency of optimization solution are guaranteed.

In order to make full use of the concept of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and the collaborative design capability of the open model-based engineering environment (OpenMBEE) in establishing complex product development platform, we propose an effective method to solve the problem of unified identity authentication in OpenMBEE integration. The proposed method is based on the Model View Controller(MVC) architecture in OpenMBEE, which has the characteristics strong plasticity and can be benefit for expanding the function in the controller layer. In our research, we make full use of the Software Development Kit (SDK) of OpenMBEE to expand the existing functions in the controller layer, and increase the function of communicating with the application development platform, then realize the function of sharing user authentication information between the development platform and OpenMBEE. After expansion, the system includes three modules, including the Front-end Service Module(FSM), MQ based Information Receiving Service Module(IFRSM), and the OpenMBEE Backend Server Module(BSM). The effectiveness of the proposed strategies is verified by some practical instances, which verifies that our study can provide an effective design idea for the identity authentication in OpenMBEE integration.

Strengthening of the annual temperature cycle in the mid-latitudes of Northern Hemisphere

The annual temperature cycle (ATC), defined as the surface temperature difference between summer and winter, plays a crucial role in controlling the phenology of biological systems (Sparks and Menzel in Int J Climatol 22(14):1715–25, 2002) and in global and regional circulation patterns (Schott and McCreary in Prog Oceanogr 51(1):1–123, 2001), (Adam et al. in J Clim 29(9): 3219–3230, 2016). Contrary to previous studies which report a decreasing trend in the ATC worldwide (Mann and Park in Geophys Res Lett 23(10):1111–4, 1996), (Wallace and Osborn in Climate Res 22(1):1–11, 2002), recent studies suggest an increasing ATC trend in the mid-latitude regions (Wang and Dillon in Nat Clim Chang 4(11):988–92, 2014). Although the trend may bear anthropogenic fingerprints, the underlying mechanism remains elusive. Using atmospheric reanalysis data and observational records, we confirm that the increasing trend in the ATC occurred during 1980–2020, mainly in the West North America, Mediterranean region and part of North Asia. The main driver of this ATC change is the faster increase in the incoming radiation on the land surface in the summer as a result of the buildup of water vapor and reduction in cloudiness. This increase was further amplified by continental dryness in the summer.

With the increasing of software complexity and user demands, collaborative service is becoming more and more popular. Each service focuses on its own specialty, their cooperation can support complicated task with high efficiency. To improve the resources utilization, virtualization technology like container is used and it enables multiple services running in the same physical machine. However, since the host physical machine is shared by several services, the resource competition is inevitable. Isolation is an effective solution, but the weak isolation mechanisms of container cannot handle such complicated scenarios. In the worst situation, the performance of services cannot meet the requirements and the system may crash. In order to solve this problem, we propose a priority-based optimization mechanism for I/O isolation after analyzing the characteristics of typical service workloads. Based on the real-time performance data, priority is automatically assigned to each service and corresponding optimization methods are applied. We evaluate the optimization effects of the priority-based mechanism in both static and dynamic workload cases, besides, the influence of different priority order is also analyzed. The experimental results show that our approach can indeed improve the system performance and guarantee the requirements of all the running services are satisfied. © 2019, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

As an important secondary photochemical pollutant,peroxyacetyl nitrate(PAN)has been studied over decades,yet its simulations usually underestimate the corresponding observations,especially in polluted *** observations in north China found unusually high concentrations of PAN during wintertime heavy haze events,but the current model still cannot reproduce the observations,and researchers speculated that nitrous acid(HONO)played a key role in PAN *** the first time we systematically assessed the impact of potential HONO sources on PAN formation mechanisms in eastern China using the Weather Research and Forecasting/Chemistry(WRF-Chem)model in February of *** results showed that the potential HONO sources significantly improved the PAN simulations,remarkably accelerated the RO x(sum of hydroxyl,hydroperoxyl,and organic peroxy radicals)cycles,and resulted in 80%–150%enhancements of PAN near the ground in the coastal areas of eastern China and 10%–50%enhancements in the areas around 35–40°N within 3 km during a heavy haze *** direct precursors of PAN were aldehyde and methylglyoxal,and the primary precursors of PAN were alkenes with C>3,xylenes,propene and *** above results suggest that the potential HONO sources should be considered in regional and global chemical transport models when conducting PAN studies.
