PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are a type of small non-coding RNAs which bind with the PIWI proteins to exert biological effects in various regulatory mechanisms. A growing amount of evidence reveals that exosomal piRNAs are potential biomarkers for diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases. Effective methods for the prediction of exosomal piRNAs are the foundation of piRNA functional research. In this study, we propose an end-to-end deep network for identifying exosomal piRNAs based on features learned from natural language processing (NLP) models for sequence embedding with attention mechanism. First, a benchmark dataset is constructed by processing piRNA subcellular localization annotated data and sequence data. Moreover, bagging positive unlabeled learning is applied to get the reliable negative set. Finally, we treat a piRNA sequence as a sentence and its k-mer subsequence as a token. Sequence embedding models with self-attention mechanism is designed to extract features from exosome piRNA sequences, which are used for the prediction task. Compared with three competing methods, our model achieves the best performance and reveals the key factors of exosomal piRNA sequences by the attention mechanism. Our model characterizes exosomal piRNAs and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate exosomal piRNAs’ functions.

Smart wheelchair plays an important role in rehabilitation training and daily movement of people with high mobility *** ensure that the smart wheelchair can operate stably in an unfamiliar environment,it is necessary to solve the problems of locating,mapping and motion *** the complex indoor environment of rehabilitation training and the wheelchair model,we propose a new smart wheelchair system *** on Simultaneous Localization and Mapping（SLAM） technology,location and mapping can be obtained through the Rao-Blackwellized Particle Filters（RBPF） *** integrate the sensor data into the proposal distribution to solve the particle degradation problem of RBPF and use selective resampling to improve the algorithm *** to the wheelchair’s own location and the surrounding environment map,global path planning and local real-time path planning are used to complete the motion *** show that the smart wheelchair system we proposed can operate robustly and quickly in a complex indoor environment.

Event-triggered Observability: A Set-membership Perspective

This work attempts to discuss the observability of linear time-invariant systems with event-triggered measurements. A new notion of observability, namely, ǫ-observability is defined with parameter ǫ, which relates to the worst-case performance of inferring the initial state based on not only the received measurement but also the implicit information in the event-triggering conditions at no-event instants. A criterion is developed to test the proposed ǫ-observability of discrete-time linear systems, based on which an iterative event-triggered set-membership observer is designed to evaluate a set containing all possible values of the state. The proposed set-membership observer is designed as the outer approximation of the ellipsoids predicted based on previous state estimates and the ellipsoids inferred by fusing the received measurement and communication conditions, which is optimal in the sense of trace at each step and is proved to be asymptotically bounded. To ensure the thriving development of low-altitude economy, countering unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is an essential task. The existing widely deployed base stations hold great potential for joint communication and jamming. In light of this, this paper investigates the joint design of beamforming to simultaneously support communication with legitimate users and countermeasure against unauthorized UAVs based on dual-functional multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cellular systems. We first formulate a joint communication and jamming (JCJ) problem, relaxing it through semi-definite relaxation (SDR) to obtain a tractable semi-definite programming (SDP) problem, with SDR providing an essential step toward simplifying the complex JCJ design. Although the solution to the relaxed SDP problem cannot directly solve the original problem, it offers valuable insights for further refinement. Therefore, we design a novel constraint specifically tailored to the structure of the SDP problem, ensuring that the solution adheres to the rank-1 constraint of the original problem. Finally, we validate effectiveness of the proposed JCJ scheme through extensive simulations. Simulation codes are provided to reproduce the results in this paper: https://***/LiZhuoRan0. The results confirm that the proposed JCJ scheme can operate effectively when the total number of legitimate users and unauthorized UAVs exceeds the number of antennas. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. —This paper considers distributed stochastic optimization, in which a number of agents cooperate to optimize a global objective function through local computations and information exchanges with neighbors over a network. Stochastic optimization problems are usually tackled by variants of projected stochastic gradient descent. However, projecting a point onto a feasible set is often expensive. The Frank-Wolfe (FW) method has well-documented merits in handling convex constraints, but existing stochastic FW algorithms are basically developed for centralized settings. In this context, the present work puts forth a distributed stochastic Frank-Wolfe solver, by judiciously combining Nesterov’s momentum and gradient tracking techniques for stochastic convex and nonconvex optimization over networks. It is shown that the convergence rate 1 of the proposed algorithm is O(k− 2) for convex optimization, and O(1/log2(k)) for nonconvex optimization. Network slicing is an essential technology in 5G and the forthcoming 6G networks. It aims to embed multiple virtual networks, i.e., network slices, on top of a shared substrate network to meet diverse service requirements. While a considerable body of existing research strives to maximize overall profits by meeting the resource demands of the network slices, optimizing their reliability is frequently overlooked. In this paper, we formalize the network slicing problem as a multi-objective optimization problem that aims to maximize total profits and reliability of network slices. To tackle this problem, we propose a new multi-objective optimization approach that improves over the state-of-the-art algorithm, which can achieve good approximate Pareto front results balancing total profits and reliability of network slices. The performance of our proposed method is evaluated on both artificial and real-world network topologies. Experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed method compared to the baseline algorithm, outperforming the latter in 92% of instances in terms of the Hypervolume (HV) metric.

Despite the impressive performance of current vision-based facial action unit (AU) detection approaches, they are heavily susceptible to the variations across different domains and the cross-domain AU detection methods are under-explored. In response to this challenge, we propose a decoupled doubly contrastive adaptation (D2CA) approach to learn a purified AU representation that is semantically aligned for the source and target domains. Specifically, we decompose latent representations into AU-relevant and AU-irrelevant components, with the objective of exclusively facilitating adaptation within the AU-relevant subspace. To achieve the feature decoupling, D2CA is trained to disentangle AU and domain factors by assessing the quality of synthesized faces in cross-domain scenarios when either AU or domain attributes are modified. To further strengthen feature decoupling, particularly in scenarios with limited AU data diversity, D2CA employs a doubly contrastive learning mechanism comprising image and feature-level contrastive learning to ensure the quality of synthesized faces and mitigate feature ambiguities. This new framework leads to an automatically learned, dedicated separation of AU-relevant and domain-relevant factors, and it enables intuitive, scale-specific control of the cross-domain facial image synthesis. Extensive experiments demonstrate the efficacy of D2CA in successfully decoupling AU and domain factors, yielding visually pleasing cross-domain synthesized facial images. Meanwhile, D2CA consistently outperforms state-of-the-art cross-domain AU detection approaches, achieving an average F1 score improvement of 6%-14% across various cross-domain scenarios. © 2025, CC BY-NC-SA.

Medical image segmentation plays a crucial role in computer-aided diagnosis. However, existing methods heavily rely on fully supervised training, which requires a large amount of labeled data with time-consuming pixel-wise annotations. Moreover, accurately segmenting lesions poses challenges due to variations in shape, size, and location. To address these issues, we propose a novel Dual-scale Enhanced and Cross-generative consistency learning framework for semi-supervised medical image Segmentation (DEC-Seg). First, we propose a Cross-level Feature Aggregation (CFA) module that integrates cross-level adjacent layers to enhance the feature representation ability across different resolutions. To address scale variation, we present a scale-enhanced consistency constraint, which ensures consistency in the segmentation maps generated from the same input image at different scales. This constraint helps handle variations in lesion sizes and improves the robustness of the model. Furthermore, we propose a cross-generative consistency scheme, in which the original and perturbed images can be reconstructed using cross-segmentation maps. This consistency constraint allows us to mine effective feature representations and boost the segmentation performance. To produce more accurate segmentation maps, we propose a Dual-scale Complementary Fusion (DCF) module that integrates features from two scale-specific decoders operating at different scales. Extensive experimental results on polyp segmentation from colonoscopy images, skin lesion segmentation from dermoscopic images, and Brain glioma segmentation from MRI images demonstrate the effectiveness of our DEC-Seg against other state-of-the-art semi-supervised segmentation approaches. © 2024, The Authors.
