Oscillation is a significant indication of the deterioration of control system performance and needs to be carefully monitored to ensure safe and stable process operations. However, industrial processes are often prone to noisy artifacts and nonstationary trends, resulting in low signal-to-noise ratios. In order to tackle this problem, this study introduces a novel framework for enhanced trend removal and noise reduction, which is featured by the following steps:(i) The circulant singular spectrum analysis (CiSSA) is used to decompose oscillation data into several reconstructed components (RCs). (ii) The estimated power spectral density (PSD) of these RCs is then smoothed using the Savitzky-Golay filter (SGF) to eliminate noise and identify the RCs corresponding to oscillatory components. (iii) These identified RCs are subsequently reconstructed to produce purified oscillatory data. The effectiveness of the suggested approach is validated using simulations and real-world industrial case studies. The findings indicate that the method notably enhances the quality of oscillatory data.

The current research on cross-platform instant messaging user association is mainly divided into two categories: based on user attributes and based on user behavior. Methods based on user attributes mainly identify users through multiple attributes such as user name and multi-platform user information association based on cell phone number, but user association is not possible when multi-platform user information is inconsistent and users do not grant their address book permissions. Methods based on user behavior mainly calculate the similarity between user trajectories features such as geographic location frequency and co-occurrence, but this method lacks the user’s information, which leads to the inability to fully excavate the sequential features of the trajectory and affects the accuracy of trajectory matching. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a cross-platform instant messaging user association algorithm based on temporal trajectories (CPTrajst). We firstly place probes in the area where the target may appear so as to obtain user information, gets user trajectory, then processes the trajectory and performs two trajectory matches, finally associate users of different platforms whose trajectories match, thus increasing the accuracy and reliability of cross-platform instant messaging user association. We conducts specific experiments for users of WeChat and Momo, the most commonly used instant messengers in China. The results show that we can achieve reliable association for these two types of instant messaging users and the user association accuracy can reach 99.5%, which is better than the existing user association algorithms based on trajectory matching. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Accurately and promptly quantifying stiction is crucial for valve maintenance in industrial settings and ensuring the stability of control loop performance. However, current Hammerstein-based stiction quantification methods overlook valve dynamics, potentially leading to inaccurate quantification. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel stiction quantification method based on an adaptive differential evolution algorithm. In addition to considering the impact of valve dynamics on stiction, the proposed method demonstrates a certain level of robustness against the interference of unknown noise. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through a series of simulations and industrial case studies.

Geological drilling process, owing to complex geological environment and harsh downhole conditions, generates data including characteristics such as pressure, rotational speed, and depth, which are frequently high-dimensional and noisy. These characteristics make real-time monitoring more complex. Existing methods in the geological drilling process, such as rule-based systems and threshold techniques, struggle to handle the complexity and high dimensionality of drilling data, leading to high false alarm rates and low detection accuracy. This paper develops an integrated temporal dictionary learning with isometric mapping method for monitoring geological drilling process. Specifically, Isometric Mapping is employed to perform dimensionality reduction on high-dimensional data, thereby retaining the structural features in the lower-dimensional space. Subsequently, Lasso regularization is applied for sparse coding to extract essential features from the reduced data. To address the fluctuations arising from the iterative dictionary learning process, a temporal smoothing term is incorporated to ensure the stability of the dictionary across different time steps. After that, the reconstruction errors were adopted to achieve comprehensive statistical indicators. Then the overall monitoring was realized for the plant-wide process. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method are demonstrated through case studies on the Tennessee-Eastman process and the actual geothermal drilling process.

MixSA: Training-free Reference-based Sketch Extraction via Mixture-of-Self-Attention

Current sketch extraction methods either require extensive training or fail to capture a wide range of artistic styles, limiting their practical applicability and versatility. We introduce Mixture-of-Self-Attention (MixSA), a training-free sketch extraction method that leverages strong diffusion priors for enhanced sketch perception. At its core, MixSA employs a mixture-of-self-attention technique, which manipulates self-attention layers by substituting the keys and values with those from reference sketches. This allows for the seamless integration of brushstroke elements into initial outline images, offering precise control over texture density and enabling interpolation between styles to create novel, unseen styles. By aligning brushstroke styles with the texture and contours of colored images, particularly in late decoder layers handling local textures, MixSA addresses the common issue of color averaging by adjusting initial outlines. Evaluated with various perceptual metrics, MixSA demonstrates superior performance in sketch quality, flexibility, and applicability. This approach not only overcomes the limitations of existing methods but also empowers users to generate diverse, high-fidelity sketches that more accurately reflect a wide range of artistic expressions. It is a key issue to reasonably represent human travel and social contact in epidemic models. Various measures were applied to develop the models of human mobility and contact in a long range or a short range, such as Brown movement, random walks, spatial networks, gravity models, contact networks. We proposed a method of representing human daily movement and social contact by using multi-layer networks with temporal edge weights. We combined bipartite networks with social networks to describe human daily trip and social contact, respectively. Temporal edge weights of multi-layer networks were employed to denote the propensity of individual movement and contact. We also verified our models and parameters by incorporating human daily travel and contact regularities, as well as comparing experimental results with human behavior statistical laws. At last, we applied a Chinese university campus as a case study to investigate students' daily travel and social contact, and studied the transmission and control strategies of COVID-19 virus. We found stricter control strategies are needed to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 virus in a university. Once a patient case emerges in a university, it is better to close the campus and quarantine all students. Partial control strategies such as quarantining a part of students and buildings cannot achieve a great effect of mitigating the transmission of COVID-19 virus. Our works are beneficial for the practitioners in the field of computational epidemiology. © 2021 IEEE.

Objectif: La prévalence de la goutte augmente, mais les études analysant ses caractéristiques cliniques dans de grands échantillons sont insuffisantes. Cette étude s'attache à clarifier les changements dans les manifestations cliniques de la goutte en Chine au cours des dix dernières années et à analyser les caractéristiques cliniques et les facteurs de risque de la goutte précoce. Méthodes: Les manifestations cliniques de la goutte ont été comparées chez 9754 patients reçus pour la première fois dans notre établissement entre 2008 et 2012 (premier groupe) ou entre 2013 et 2018 (dernier groupe). La goutte apparue ≤ 30 ans a été définie comme goutte précoce et > 30 ans, comme goutte tardive. Les caractéristiques cliniques et les facteurs de risque ont été comparés entre les groupes. Résultats: La goutte est apparue 4,14 ans plus tôt dans le dernier groupe (2013-2018, 5979 patients) et le pourcentage de goutte précoce (3827 patients) y était plus élevé. La durée de la maladie était significativement plus courte (5,72 ± 0,09 contre 6,01 ± 0,11, p < 0,05) et la proportion de patients présentant des tophi était plus faible dans le dernier groupe (20,0% contre 22,0%, p<0,05). Le dernier groupe comptait davantage de patients obèses (37,7% contre 32,6%, p < 0,001) et l'uricémie y était significativement plus élevée (485,5 ± 1,5 Μmol/l contre 465,0 ± 1,9 Μmol/l). Comme la goutte survenait à un âge plus jeune, nous avons appliqué une régression logistique multivariée et déterminé que des antécédents familiaux positifs, le sexe masculin, l'obésité, une uricémie élevée et la consommation de sodas sucrés étaient des facteurs prédictifs indépendants de goutte précoce. Conclusion: Les manifestations de la goutte en Chine ont évolué au cours des dix dernières années, avec notamment une tendance à une apparition plus précoce. © 2021

Geo-hazards have become one of the main disasters endangering the safety of people's lives and property in the world. In order to improve the early warning of disasters, a persistent monitoring method of multi-agent systems is proposed in this work. To ensure that the agent's energy is never exhausted, the set invariance constraint is included in the optimization problem. The goal is to minimize the difference between the actual control input of the robot and the nominal control input corresponding to the task to be performed. Moreover, the control barrier function (CBF) is used to transform the forward invariance of a subset of the robot state space into a control input constraint. The coverage control method in an uncertain environment is verified by numerical simulation. This work provides new insights into effective monitoring and early warning of geo-hazards.

The rate of penetration (ROP) is a critical indi-cator for evaluating drilling efficiency. Developing an accurate ROP model is essential for optimizing drilling performance and addressing process control challenges. However, ROP modeling in deep geological drilling is complicated by nonlinearity, diverse working conditions, and high-dimensional variations. To overcome these challenges, a fusion modeling approach for ROP is proposed. First, the fuzzy C-means clustering method is applied to classify drilling data into different working con-ditions. Based on this classification, support vector regression is employed to develop ROP sub-models, effectively addressing nonlinearity. To further enhance model accuracy, an improved dung beetle optimization algorithm (IDBO) is designed to deter-mine optimal model parameters and integrate the sub-models, thereby resolving issues related to multiple working conditions and high-dimensional variations. The IDBO incorporates four key enhancements, average weight, chaos disturbance, modified local search, and re-updating of the best solution, to strength-en its global search capability. Comparative results using the IEEE CEC2017 benchmark test functions demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms others in 12 test functions, highlighting its strong global optimization ability. Additionally, results from real-world drilling data validate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling approach in practical applications.
