A Stealthy False Data Injection Attack Scheme Against Sensor Measurements Using Partial System Knowledge

Attack design is indispensable for analyzing potential risks of networked control systems (NCSs). However, the remote control center is usually well protected and its knowledge is difficult to be disclosed, which becomes a major obstacle in developing stealthy false data injection (FDI) attack scheme because only partial system knowledge (i.e., the system matrices of the physical plant) could be used. To meet this challenge, a novel stealthy FDI attack scheme against the sensor measurement is proposed by employing the normal and compromised self-governed filters held by malicious attackers, where the normal one is adopted to estimate the system state and the compromised one is used as the virtual attacked target. The corresponding attack strategy is obtained by maximizing the estimation error of the compromised self-governed filter. Then, the residual of the compromised system is derived to prove attack stealthiness. Next, it is derived and found that the attack impact on system estimation performance is the same as that based on full system knowledge. Furthermore, the divergence condition of NCSs under the attack is presented. Finally, all the theoretical analyses are verified by simulation results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, a fuzzy PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) controller is introduced to suppress the stick-slip vibration present in the drilling process. First, the dynamical model of stick-slip vibration is composed of the multi-DOF (Degree-Of-Freedom) drill-string model and the Karnopp model describing the interaction of the drill bit with the rock. Then, stability analysis is made for the initial PID parameters of our controller. To suppress the stick-slip vibration and at the same time mitigate the effects of the stratigraphic environment variation on the control performance, the fuzzy adaptive algorithm is chosen as the method of optimization controller parameters. From the experimental results, it is clear that our controller has good control performance in the complex and changing stratigraphic environment. © 2022 IEEE.

CacheAlarm: Monitoring Sensitive Behaviors of Android Apps Using Cache Side Channel

Malware attack has been a serious threat to the security and privacy of both individual and corporation users of the Android platform. Business entities seek to protect themselves by means of monitoring privacy-related sensitive behaviors conducted on company-issued Android devices. However, due to Android's own access control and privacy protection policies, this is difficult to be done with third-party apps using only normal privileges. Existing works proposed using side-channel readings from leaky APIs and system virtual files to speculate runtime app behaviors, which could be unreliable due to future system updates (that ban exploited resources), hardware jittering, etc. In this paper, we argue that a more traditional side-channel attack strategy, namely the CPU-cache-based side channel, could be exploited in the benign scenario of app behavior surveillance. Specifically, we propose CacheAlarm, a sensitive app behavior monitor and foreground app identification system, which works by measuring cache side-channel readings of selected methods within the Android framework, and conducted in-lab and in-the-wild user studies to compare the effectiveness of our scheme against SideNet, a previous Android app behavior surveillance scheme using API-based side channels. Results of the studies suggested that CacheAlarm outperforms SideNet on the accuracy of detecting sensitive behaviors in addition to gaining the capability of detecting apps running at foreground of the user device. © 2025 IEEE. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has become an ideal medium for long-term storage and retrieval due to its extremely high storage density and long-term stability. But access efficiency is an existing bottleneck in DNA storage, especially the lack of high-quality random access address sequences. Therefore, in this paper, we report a series of approaches based on k-weakly mutually uncorrelated (k-WMU) codes to design the address sequence to improve the access efficiency of DNA storage. To address the problem of DNA sequences that are poorly scalable at the base level, we propose a 0-m-ruling coding scheme combined with k-WMU codes that can make address sequences avoid generating secondary structure with stem lengths ranging from 3 to 9. Based on the decoupled structure, We further extend the k-WMU codes with error correction function while satisfying combinatorial biological constraints. In order to investigate the performance of the designed address sequences for real-world applications, we perform simulation experiments based on thermodynamic properties and error correction capability as well as compared the minimum free energy (MFE), melting temperature (TM), and average decoding success rate (ADSR) with previous work. The results show that designed address sequences have a high MFE value and ADSR and a substantial reduction in TM-variance while satisfying the combinatorial biological constraints. As the quality of address sequences improves, this will help to achieve accurate random access as well as enhance the robustness of the DNA storage system. © 2002-2011 IEEE.

In the case of introducing the double integral state into the augmented vector, the time-varying delay square terms in the derivative of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) usually needs to be treated with some negative-determination lemmas in the existing literatures, which are only sufficient conditions and are conservative to some extent. In this work, by introducing some new augmented variables, some zero-valued equations are proposed to avoid the appearance of these time-varying delay square terms, which have great potential to reduce the conservatism. Then, a stability result in terms of linear matrix inequalities is derived via the presented zero-valued equations. Finally, a representative example is provided to testify the usefulness and meliority of the raised stability criterion. © 2022 IEEE.

Flat objects with negligible thicknesses like books and disks are challenging to be grasped by the robot because of the width limit of the robot's gripper, especially when they are in cluttered environments. Pre-grasp manipulation is conducive to rearranging objects on the table and moving the flat objects to the table edge, making them graspable. In this paper, we formulate this task as Parameterized Action Markov Decision Process, and a novel method based on deep reinforcement learning is proposed to address this problem by introducing sliding primitives as actions. A weight-sharing policy network is utilized to predict the sliding primitive's parameters for each object, and a Q-network is adopted to select the acted object among all the candidates on the table. Meanwhile, via integrating a curriculum learning scheme, our method can be scaled to cluttered environments with more objects. In both simulation and real-world experiments, our method surpasses the existing methods and achieves pre-grasp manipulation with higher task success rates and fewer action steps. Without fine-tuning, it can be generalized to novel shapes and household objects with more than 85% success rates in the real world. This paper combines the equivalent-input-disturbance (EID) approach with the sliding-mode control (SMC) approach that improves disturbance-rejection performance. A novel equivalent-input-disturbance (NEID) approach is presented, which considers the disturbance estimation in the state observer. A sliding surface is designed based on the internal model principle, which is called internal-model sliding-mode control (IMSMC). A stability condition is devised for the SMC-EID-based control system. The parameters are designed based on the stability condition. Simulation results show the validity of the NEID approach. © 2022 IEEE.

Steel coil recognition in factories is important for an intelligent crane. In recent years, the deep neural network has become a popular tool in industry. The YOLO family of object detection methods has been widely applied. However, the original YOLOv8 has certain limitations in dealing with light change, occlusive targets, and small long-distance targets. To achieve a better recognition effect and improve the working efficiency, in this paper we make some improvements. Firstly, Space-to-depth (SPD) and Large Selective Kernel Networks (LSK) are added to the network Backbone. Secondly, the BiFormer attention mechanism is added to the neck part of the network, and the self-attention mechanism is used to obtain the global relationship between input to improve the network performance, so that the network can receive information at any time and autonomously adjust its receptive field in the spatial dimension. The improved YOLOv8 has better recognition accuracy for low-resolution occluded objects and small target objects. By experiments, the improved YOLOv8 network has 84.3% mAP on the self-built datasets, which is better than the 82.1% mAP of the original YOLOv8 network.

Vision-and-Language Navigation (VLN) is a challenging task that requires an agent to navigate through complex environments based on natural language instructions. In contrast to conventional approaches, which primarily focus on the spatial domain exploration, we propose a paradigm shift toward the Fourier domain. This alternative perspective aims to enhance visual-textual matching, ultimately improving the agent's ability to understand and execute navigation tasks based on the given instructions. In this study, we first explore the significance of high-frequency information in VLN and provide evidence that it is instrumental in bolstering visual-textual matching processes. Building upon this insight, we further propose a sophisticated and versatile Frequency-enhanced Data Augmentation (FDA) technique to improve the VLN model's capability of capturing critical high-frequency information. Specifically, this approach requires the agent to navigate in environments where only a subset of high-frequency visual information corresponds with the provided textual instructions, ultimately fostering the agent's ability to selectively discern and capture pertinent high-frequency features according to the given instructions. Promising results on R2R, RxR, CVDN and REVERIE demonstrate that our FDA can be readily integrated with existing VLN approaches, improving performance without adding extra parameters, and keeping models simple and efficient. A graph G is said to be strongly Menger edge-connected (SM-λ for short) if every two of its vertices u,v are connected by min{dG(u),dG(v)}) edge-disjoint paths, where dG(u) is the degree of u. The maximum conditional edge-fault-tolerant with respect to the SM-λ property of G, denoted by smrλ(G), is the maximum integer m such that G − F remains SM-λ for every edge set F with |F| ≤ m and δ(G−F) ≥ r. So far, most of the exact values of smrλ(G) are for the case when r ≤ 2 for special class of graphs. In this paper, we give a sufficient condition to characterize smrλ(G) for general r on regular graphs.
