Determination of the boundary value of atmospheric aerosol extinction coefficient based on fixed point principle

In this paper a determination method for atmospheric aerosol extinction coefficient boundary value based on the fixed-point principle is proposed. The core idea of the method is to convert the determination of the atmospheric aerosol extinction coefficient boundary value to searching for the fixed point of function. Firstly, the relationships between the atmospheric extinction coefficient boundary value and the optical depth of atmosphere as well as the return signals of lidar are established. Secondly, the existence of fixed point is judged according to the existence and uniqueness condition of function's fixed point, and then the atmospheric aerosol extinction coefficient boundary value is obtained by the fixed point iteration. The method is applied for real lidar return signals to invert the vertical profiles of lower atmospheric aerosol extinction coefficient, and it has been compared with the inversion results acquired by the clean layer method in the tropopause. The results show that the boundary value determined by this method can invert the lower atmospheric aerosol extinction coefficient well. This method can anticipate the existence interval of fixed point and select a reasonable initial iterative value. It has the advantages of fast convergence and few times of iterations.

CAMSHIFT algorithm and Comaniciu/Meer algorithm are two fundamental frameworks of mean shift procedure for video target *** paper generalizes the two well-known mean shift tracking algorithms,originally due to Bradski and Comaniciu/Meer.A new general similarity function which defines the distance between the target model and target candidate is employed to calculate the pixel weights and the target *** target size is iteratively estimated and updated based on the zeroth order moment of the pixel *** we prove that both the CAMSHIFT algorithm and the Comaniciu/Meer algorithm can be included in the generalized mean shift tracking *** tracking performances of three mean shift algorithms in the unified framework are shown and compared in the experimental results.

Study of hybrid strategy for ambulatory ECG waveform clustering

A hybrid strategy has been proposed to reduce the wrong clustering on Ambulatory ECG (electrocardiogram). Since Ambulatory ECG is usually composed by 24 hours data, the number of individual ECG waveform can reach to 100,000, the request for accurate clustering result is highly required. The proposed strategy adopted some intelligent algorithms to solve the above problem. It clusters ECG waveform sample (selected from Ambulatory ECG) synchronously by Max-Min distance clustering algorithm, K-means algorithm and Simulated annealing algorithm first. And then, it adopted all three outputs from the above three algorithms as input on Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network (BP ANN). In the end, we got more accurate clustering result from the output of ANN. For testing the results, data of MIT/BIH arrhythmia database were used for experiments. After the controlled trial on MIT/BIH data, it can be safely concluded that the clustering result achieved by improved strategy can got more accurate than that by the traditional clustering algorithm. An average accuracy ratio is about 94.6%, 1.6% higher than k-means algorithm averagely and 1.3% higher than Simulated Annealing algorithm averagely. © 2011 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

Image modeling by weighted network can powerfully characterize the structure of images. The node strength of a single node in a weighted network integrates the information on the number and the weights of links incident in it. In order to make good use of structural and statistical information in image analysis, the image is represented by a weighted network. Normally, the dissimilarity between the salt and pepper noise pixel and its nearest neighbor pixels is significant. The noise detection problem has been transformed into a problem of finding the node which has the minimal node strength. An ordered weighted average (OWA) operator is adopted to integrate the information provided by the pixels encompassing the noise pixel for restoration. In this way, a novel algorithm for removing salt and pepper noise in images is developed, where the noise detecting procedure and the filtering procedure are interleaved. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we proposed a tunnel morph model for bio-signal waveform in measuring their similarity. Firstly, the formal specifications of bio-signal waveforms are given. And then, a series of model establishing related definitions are presented. These definitions contain waveform segmentation; waveforms distance measurement, and tunnel width computation. Moreover, on the base of the model, a similarity measuring strategy which takes the curve feature of bio-signal into account was presented. In the end, the strategy was compared with other similarity measurement methods by AECG (Ambulatory Electrocardiogram) waveform data. The data are adopted from MIT/BIH arrhythmia database. Experiment results show that the sensitivity and the positive predictivity of the strategy based on tunnel morph model are prior to other strategies.

A fast algorithm for computing analysis window of real discrete Gabor transforms based on DCT in order to realize real discrete Gabor transforms efficiently was introduced. The original biorthogonal condition expression of computing analysis window functions was predigested by using the orthogonality of discrete cosine functions, and then divided the original equations set into a set of independent subsystems. Thus this algorithm can save a considerable computation. Some numerical experiments were given to demonstrate the efficiency and advantages of the proposed algorithm. It decreases the computational time compared to the original algorithm.

Granular computing which imitates the manner of human thinking is a mathematical tool to deal with incomplete, uncertain, imprecise and inconsistent knowledge. Just as a great umbrella, it may be regarded as a label of theories, methodologies, techniques and tools about granules, mainly including fuzzy set theory, rough set theory and quotient space theory. In this paper we discuss the relationship of three theories. Then we introduce a general model of granular computing and present a macrocosmic (microcosmic) hierarchical representation of granules.

The high level architecture (HLA) has become the focus of distributed interactive simulation's general technology frame. Data distribution management (DDM), one of the six services in run time infrastructure (RTI), provides data filtering mechanism to meet the requirements of system scalability. This paper describes and reviews the popular DDM filtering algorithms, and discusses their respective merits. Especially, it presents a new hybrid DDM algorithm which is based on weight function. Simulation experiments show this algorithm has some desirable theoretical properties. Comparing with the traditional DDM filtering algorithms, the presented approach can greatly improve the data filtering efficiency. It has achieved the goal of improving DDM performance.

The measurement of granules is the most foundational problem in granular computing. The paper is intended to study the measurement of granules on a finite or infinite set. For a finite set we discuss the measurement of granules corresponding to an equivalence relation on a finite set and introduce a definition of conditional granularity in order to distinguish those granules with the same granularity. For an infinite set we can define different granularity in different questions, but we give the basic idea of granularity, that is, the granularity of a granule is the sum of the relative information contents of its atomic granules.
