Cancer, a global health threat, demands effective diagnostic solutions to combat its impact on public health, particularly for breast, colon, and lung cancers. Early and accurate diagnosis is essential for successful treatment, prompting the rise of computer-Aided Diagnosis Systems as reliable and cost-effective tools. Histopathology, renowned for its precision in cancer imaging, has become pivotal in the diagnostic landscape of breast, colon, and lung cancers. However, while deep learning models have been widely explored in this domain, they often face challenges in generalizing to diverse clinical settings and in efficiently capturing both local and global feature representations, particularly for multi-class tasks. This underscores the need for models that can reduce biases, improve diagnostic accuracy, and minimize error susceptibility in cancer classification tasks. To this end, we introduce ResoMergeNet (RMN), an advanced deep-learning model designed for both multi-class and binary cancer classification using histopathological images of breast, colon, and lung. ResoMergeNet integrates the Resboost mechanism which enhances feature representation, and the ConvmergeNet mechanism which optimizes feature extraction, leading to improved diagnostic accuracy. Comparative evaluations against state-of-the-art models show ResoMergeNet's superior performance. Validated on the LC-25000 and BreakHis (400× and 40× magnifications) datasets, ResoMergeNet demonstrates outstanding performance, achieving perfect scores of 100 % in accuracy, sensitivity, precision, and F1 score for binary classification. For multi-class classification with five classes from the LC25000 dataset, it maintains an impressive 99.96 % across all performance metrics. When applied to the BreakHis dataset, ResoMergeNet achieved 99.87 % accuracy, 99.75 % sensitivity, 99.78 % precision, and 99.77 % F1 score at 400× magnification. AdaSemiCD: An Adaptive Semi-supervised Change Detection Method Based on Pseudo Label Evaluation

Change detection(CD) is an essential field in remote sensing, with a primary focus on identifying areas of change in bitemporal image pairs captured at varying intervals of the same region. The data annotation process for CD tasks is both time-consuming and labor-intensive. To better utilize the scarce labeled data and abundant unlabeled data, we introduce an adaptive semi-supervised learning method, AdaSemiCD, to improve pseudo-label usage and optimize the training process. Initially, due to the extreme class imbalance inherent in CD, the model is more inclined to focus on the background class, and it is easy to confuse the boundary of the target object. Considering these two points, we develop a measurable evaluation metric for pseudo-labels that enhances the representation of information entropy by class rebalancing and amplification of ambiguous areas, assigning greater weights to prospective change objects. Subsequently, to enhance the reliability of samplewise pseudo-labels, we introduce the AdaFusion module, to dynamically identifying the most uncertain region and substituting it with more trustworthy content. Lastly, to ensure better training stability, we introduce the AdaEMA module, which updates the teacher model using only batches of trusted samples. Frequency-Guided Spatial Adaptation for Camouflaged Object Detection

Camouflaged object detection (COD) aims to segment camouflaged objects which exhibit very similar patterns with the surrounding environment. Recent research works have shown that enhancing the feature representation via the frequency information can greatly alleviate the ambiguity problem between the foreground objects and the background. With the emergence of vision foundation models, like InternImage, Segment Anything Model etc, adapting the pretrained model on COD tasks with a lightweight adapter module shows a novel and promising research direction. Existing adapter modules mainly care about the feature adaptation in the spatial domain. In this paper, we propose a novel frequency-guided spatial adaptation method for COD task. Specifically, we transform the input features of the adapter into frequency domain. By grouping and interacting with frequency components located within non overlapping circles in the spectrogram, different frequency components are dynamically enhanced or weakened, making the intensity of image details and contour features adaptively adjusted. At the same time, the features that are conducive to distinguishing object and background are highlighted, indirectly implying the position and shape of camouflaged object. We conduct extensive experiments on four widely adopted benchmark datasets and the proposed method outperforms 26 state-of-the-art methods with large margins. Code will be released. Peer is Your Pillar: A Data-unbalanced Conditional GANs for Few-shot Image Generation

Few-shot image generation aims to train generative models using a small number of training images. When there are few images available for training (e.g. 10 images), Learning From Scratch (LFS) methods often generate images that closely resemble the training data while Transfer Learning (TL) methods try to improve performance by leveraging prior knowledge from GANs pre-trained on large-scale datasets. However, current TL methods may not allow for sufficient control over the degree of knowledge preservation from the source model, making them unsuitable for setups where the source and target domains are not closely related. To address this, we propose a novel pipeline called Peer is your Pillar (PIP), which combines a target few-shot dataset with a peer dataset to create a data-unbalanced conditional generation. Our approach includes a class embedding method that separates the class space from the latent space, and we use a direction loss based on pre-trained CLIP to improve image diversity. Experiments on various few-shot datasets demonstrate the advancement of the proposed PIP, especially reduces the training requirements of few-shot image generation. © 2023, CC BY.

Hc-Apnet: Harmonic Compensate Auditory Perception Network for Low-Complexity Speech Enhancement

Speech enhancement is critical for improving speech quality and intelligibility in a variety of noisy environments. While neural network-based methods have shown promising results in speech enhancement, they often suffer from performance degradation in scenarios with limited computational resources. This paper presents HC-APNet (Harmonic Compensate Auditory Perception Network), a novel lightweight approach tailored to exploit the perceptual capabilities of the human auditory system for efficient and effective speech enhancement, with a focus on harmonic compensation. Inspired by human auditory reception mechanisms, we first segment audio into subbands using an auditory filterbank for speech enhancement. The use of subbands helps to reduce the number of parameters and the computational load, while the use of an auditory filterbank effectively preserves high-quality speech enhancement. In addition, inspired by the perception of human auditory context, we have developed an auditory perception network to capture gain information for different subbands. Furthermore, considering that subband processing only applies gain to the spectral envelope, which may introduce harmonic distortion, we design a learnable multi-subband comb-filter inspired by human fundamental frequency perception to mitigate harmonic distortion. Finally, by incorporating an auditory perception network architecture, our proposed HC-APNet model outperforms state-of-the-art methods. At the same time, our approach significantly compresses both parameters and computational load, with the number of parameters approximately 1/21 of DCCRN's and the computational load approximately 1/31. © 2024, The Authors. Towards the Identifiability and Explainability for Personalized Learner Modeling: An Inductive Paradigm

Personalized learner modeling using cognitive diagnosis (CD), which aims to model learners’ cognitive states by diagnosing learner traits from behavioral data, is a fundamental yet significant task in many web learning services. Existing cognitive diagnosis models (CDMs) follow the proficiency-response paradigm that views learner traits and question parameters as trainable embeddings and learns them through learner performance prediction. However, we notice that this paradigm leads to the inevitable non-identifiability and explainability overfitting problem, which is harmful to the quantification of learners’ cognitive states and the quality of web learning services. To address these problems, we propose an identifiable cognitive diagnosis framework (ID-CDF) based on a novel response-proficiency-response paradigm inspired by encoder-decoder models. Specifically, we first devise the diagnostic module of ID-CDF, which leverages inductive learning to eliminate randomness in optimization to guarantee identifiability and captures the monotonicity between overall response data distribution and cognitive states to prevent explainability overfitting. Next, we propose a flexible predictive module for ID-CDF to ensure diagnosis preciseness. We further present an implementation of ID-CDF, i.e., ID-CDM, to illustrate its usability. Extensive experiments on four real-world datasets with different characteristics demonstrate that ID-CDF can effectively address the problems without loss of diagnosis preciseness. Multimodal knowledge graphs (MMKG) store structured world knowledge enriched with multimodal descriptive information. However, MMKG often faces the challenge of incompleteness. The primary objective of multimodal knowledge graph completion (MMKGC) is to predict missing entities within MMKG. Current MMKGC methods struggle with addressing the issue of over-trust attention and how to enhance the robustness of the model. To overcome these problems, we introduce APKGC, a noise-enhanced multimodal method for knowledge graph completion with attention penalty. APKGC effectively adjusts the attention scores in the language model and alleviates over-trust attention through a specifically designed attention penalty module. Additionally, an adaptive noise sampling module is proposed to supplement the entity’s multimodal information, thereby enhancing the model’s robustness. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that APKGC excels in overcoming these challenges. Compared to the existing state-of-the-art MMKGC model, APKGC improves Hit@1 by 3.3% on the DB15K dataset and by 3.4% on the MKG-W dataset. A Consensus Algorithm Based on Risk Assessment Model for Permissioned Blockchain

Blockchain is characterized by privacy, traceability, and security features as a novel framework of distributed ledger technologies. Blockchain technology enables stakeholders to conduct trusted data sharing and exchange without a trusted centralized institution. These features make blockchain applications attractive to enhance trustworthiness in very different contexts. Due to unique design concepts and outstanding performance, blockchain has become a popular research topic in industry and academia in recent years. Every participant is anonymous in a permissionless blockchain represented by cryptocurrency applications such as Bitcoin. In this situation, some special incentive mechanisms are applied to permissionless blockchain, such as "mined" native cryptocurrency to solve the trust issues of permissionless blockchain. In many use cases, permissionless blockchain has bottlenecks in transaction throughput performance, which restricts further application in the real world. A permissioned blockchain can reach a consensus among a group of entities that do not establish an entire trust relationship. Unlike permissionless blockchains, the participants must be identified in permissioned blockchains. By relying on the traditional crash fault-tolerant consensus protocols, permissioned blockchains can achieve high transaction throughput and low latency without sacrificing security. However, how to balance the security and consensus efficiency is still the issue that needs to be solved urgently in permissioned blockchains. As the core module of blockchain technology, the consensus algorithm plays a vital role in the performance of the blockchain system.
