Translation elongation is essential for cellular proteostasis and is implicated in cancer and neurodegeneration. Accurately predicting the rate of ribosome elongation in each codon (also called ribosomal A site) on mRNA is important for understanding and modulating protein synthesis. However, predicting elongation rates is challenging due to the trade-off between capturing distal codon interactions and focusing on proximal codon effects at the A site. Approaches capturing distal codon interactions in the coding sequences (CDS) of mRNA fail to effectively differentiate critical regions (codons near the A site) due to insufficient effective mechanisms for focusing on these regions. Conversely, due to the limitations of models when handling long mRNA sequences, some methods simplify inputs by conditioning solely on proximal codons surrounding the A site, leading to the loss of important information from distal codons. To address this issue, we leverage Mamba’s success in capturing long-range dependencies to enable the consideration of distant codons’ impact on the A site. Additionally, we introduce a sliding window attention mechanism to emphasize the proximal codons around the A site during ribosome elongation. Building on these advancements, we present Sliding Window Attention Mamba (SWAMamba), a novel framework that simultaneously leverages both proximal and distal codon effects on the A site. We conduct comprehensive evaluations on ribosome data across four species and find that SWAMamba significantly outperformed current state-of-the-art methods in predicting translation elongation rates. © 2025, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***). The data of applications in connected and autonomous vehicles are important, which is usually collected by service providers to improve their services, such as object detection model. But, wireless communication is susceptible to various kinds of attacks. Thus, the data of the application module needs to be securely shared to the corresponding service provider. However, current schemes are with limited performance while a service provider collects multiple application data at the same time. By adopting signcryption and chaotic map, an efficient authentication and key agreement scheme is proposed, while batch authentication is achieved for efficient message authentication of multiple applications, and the efficient revocation is realized based on Chinese remainder theorem under the assistance of trusted execution environment supported vehicle computing/communication unit. The formal security proof shows that the scheme is secure under the random oracle model, and the experiment results shows that the scheme is more efficient than related schemes and can meet the requirements of CAV. © ICST institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2024.

The aim of the research is to implement teeth instance segmentation in oral and maxillofacial images using deep learning techniques. An enhanced YOLOv5-seg model is proposed, which replaces standard convolutions with Deformable Convolution within the YOLOv5-seg framework. This substitution aims to boost the network's feature extraction capabilities. Additionally, a dynamic head (dyhead), an adaptive attention mechanism, is introduced to capture information more effectively, improving tooth saliency and segmentation accuracy in images. The Wise-IoU metric is introduced as an evaluation benchmark, enhancing the comprehensive and reliable assessment of model performance. Notably, traditional image augmentation methods, such as rotation and flipping, are omitted due to the unique nature of dental images. Experimental results demonstrate that the improved YOLOv5-seg instance segmentation model achieves an mAP of 88.5% on a custom oral and maxillofacial image dataset, indicating its enhanced suitability for teeth segmentation tasks. ©2024 IEEE.

Despite the huge accumulation of scientific literature,it is inefficient and laborious to manually search it for useful information to investigate structure-activity ***,we propose an efficient text-mining framework for the discovery of credible and valuable domain knowledge from abstracts of scientific literature focusing on Nickel-based single crystal ***,the credibility of abstracts is quantified in terms of source timeliness,publication authority and author’s academic ***,eight entity types and domain dictionaries describing Nickel-based single crystal superalloys are predefined to realize the named entity recognition from the abstracts,achieving an accuracy of 85.10%.Thirdly,by formulating 12 naming rules for the alloy brands derived from the recognized entities,we extract the target entities and refine them as domain knowledge through the credibility *** this,we also map out the academic cooperative“Author-Literature-institute”network,characterize the generations of Nickel-based single crystal superalloys,as well as obtain the fractions of the most important chemical elements in *** extracted rich and diverse knowledge of Nickel-based single crystal superalloys provides important insights toward understanding the structure-activity relationships for Nickel-based single crystal superalloys and is expected to accelerate the design and discovery of novel superalloys.

Incremental few-shot semantic segmentation (IFSS) expands segmentation capacity of the trained model to segment new-class images with few samples. However, semantic meanings may shift from background to object class or vice versa during incremental learning. Moreover, new-class samples often lack representative attribute features when the new class greatly differs from the pre-learned old class. In this paper, we propose a causal framework to discuss the cause of semantic shift and incompleteness in IFSS, and we deconfound the revealed causal effects from two aspects. First, we propose a Causal Intervention Module (CIM) to resist semantic shift. CIM progressively and adaptively updates prototypes of old class, and removes the confounder in an intervention manner. Second, a Prototype Refinement Module (PRM) is proposed to complete the missing semantics. In PRM, knowledge gained from the episode learning scheme assists in fusing features of new-class and old-class prototypes. Experiments on both PASCAL-VOC 2012 and ADE20k benchmarks demonstrate the outstanding performance of our method. Copyright © 2025, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***). Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). With the development of artificial intelligence, an increasing number of studies have begun to explore its application in cancer treatment prediction. However, the prior methods exhibit considerable variability even with slight modifications to the input data, which could potentially undermine the reliability of the results. In this paper, we proposed RP-Net, a novel multi-modal fusion-based framework that combines feature information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and whole slide images (WSI), establishing a relationship to map the therapeutic effectiveness of nCRT for LARC. We investigated the relationship of the tumour region and its periphery tissues, and demonstrated the validity of the proposed framework that involving 11 different combinations of modalities. The experimental results revealed that it has achieved higher prediction accuracy compared to the four intra-categories single-modal combinations and outperformed the two intra-categories multi-modal combinations. When compared to the other four inter-categories multi-modal combinations, the fusion features get accuracy of 2% ∼ 6% improvement respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Federated feature selection (FFS) is a promising field for selecting informative features while preserving data privacy in federated learning (FL) settings. Existing FFS methods focus on capturing the correlations between features and labels. They struggle to achieve satisfactory performance in the face of data distribution heterogeneity among FL clients, and cannot address the out-of-distribution (OOD) problem that arises when a significant portion of clients do not actively participate in FL training. To address these limitations, we propose Federated Causally Invariant Feature Learning (FedCIFL), a novel approach for learning causally invariant features in a privacy-preserving manner. We design a sample reweighting strategy to eliminate spurious correlations introduced by selection bias and iteratively estimate the federated causal effect between each feature and the labels (with the remaining features initially treated as confounders). By iteratively refining the confounding feature set to identify the true confounders, FedCIFL mitigates the impact of limited local data on the accuracy of federated causal effect estimation. Theoretical analysis proves the correctness of FedCIFL under reasonable assumptions. Extensive experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate the superiority of FedCIFL against eight state-of-the-art baselines, beating the best-performing approach by 3.19%, 9.07% and 2.65% in terms of average test Accuracy, RMSE and F1 score, respectively. Prediction on compatibility of a service is crucial because it not only provides assurance for service requesters to successfully fulfil the workflow, but also relieves the pressure of the service pool from overload. Existing researches on parameter prediction mainly rely on collaborative filtering and matrix factorization, which are easily exposed to data-sparse problem, and they don't have solid support from mathematical proof. In this paper, we are the first to propose a method to predict compatibility with reliable mathematical proof, and its mechanism prevents data-sparse. Firstly we propose an architecture called Topology Retrievable Service Oriented architecture, which is capable of collecting individual invocation records in a specific period of time and generate the whole topology of the service pool. Secondly, based on the architecture we presented, we give our definitions of Link-ability, propose Link-ability Generation Algorithm and present our solid mathematical strategies in the aspect of Markov Process. Lastly, we perform a series of experiment to strengthen our point, the result shows that our Link-ability not only reveals compatibility, but also potential compatibility of connecting services. © 2022 IEEE.

A Temporal Knowledge Graph (TKG) is a sequence of KGs with respective timestamps, which adopts quadruples in the form of (subject, relation, object, timestamp) to describe dynamic facts. TKG reasoning has facilitated many real-world applications via answering such queries as (query entity, query relation, ?, future timestamp) about future. This is actually a matching task between a query and candidate entities based on their historical structures, which reflect behavioral trends of the entities at different timestamps. In addition, recent KGs provide background knowledge of all the entities, which is also helpful for the matching. Thus, in this paper, we propose the Historical Structure Matching (HiSMatch) model. It applies two structure encoders to capture the semantic information contained in the historical structures of the query and candidate entities. Besides, it adopts another encoder to integrate the background knowledge into the model. TKG reasoning experiments on six benchmark datasets demonstrate the significant improvement of the proposed HiSMatch model, with up to 5.6% performance improvement in MRR, compared to the state-of-the-art baselines. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Existing methods estimate treatment effects from observational data and assume that covariates are all confounders. However, observed covariates may not directly represent confounding variables that influence both treatment and outcome. They always include variables that only affect the treatment or the outcome. In addition, for multi-dimensional binary treatments, disentangled methods are mainly designed for binary variables and ignore the impact of multi-cause treatment variables on the inference of latent factors. To address these two issues, based on variable decomposition and proxy inference, we propose the Disentangled Latent Factors for Multi-cause Treatment Estimation (DEMTE) algorithm. It utilizes an identifiable autoencoder to infer and disentangle latent factors based on the joint distribution of variables in observational data. DEMTE evaluates the treatment effect on the disentangled factors. Synthetic experiments and semi-synthetic experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the inference and disentanglement techniques and our method achieves more accurate treatment effect estimation. © 2024 institute of Physics Publishing.
