While long-tailed semi-supervised learning (LTSSL) has received tremendous attention in many real-world classification problems, existing LTSSL algorithms typically assume that the class distributions of labeled and unlabeled data are almost identical. Those LTSSL algorithms built upon the assumption can severely suffer when the class distributions of labeled and unlabeled data are mismatched since they utilize biased pseudo-labels from the model. To alleviate this problem, we propose a new simple method that can effectively utilize unlabeled data from unknown class distributions through Boosting cOnsistency in duAl Training (BOAT). Specifically, we construct the standard and balanced branch to ensure the performance of the head and tail classes, respectively. Throughout the training process, the two branches incrementally converge and interact with each other, eventually resulting in commendable performance across all classes. Despite its simplicity, we show that BOAT achieves state-of-the-art performance on a variety of standard LTSSL benchmarks, e.g., an averaged 2.7% absolute increase in test accuracy against existing algorithms when the class distributions of labeled and unlabeled data are mismatched. Even when the class distributions are identical, BOAT consistently outperforms many sophisticated LTSSL algorithms. We carry out extensive ablation studies to tease apart the factors that are the most important to the success of BOAT. The source code is available at https://***/Gank0078/BOAT. Trace data is crucial for system observability and maintainability within microservices architectures, and many operation algorithms depend heavily on trace data, including anomaly detection, root cause analysis, etc. However, the actual performance of these algorithms might be unsatisfactory due to the absence of high-quality labeled datasets for effective training and evaluation. Since billions of traces could be generated daily for large-scale microservices, labeling overhead is the main hurdle to obtaining high-quality trace *** this paper, we propose LabelEase, a novel semi-Automatic trace labeling tool, which uses active learning techniques to achieve efficient and accurate trace labeling. For anomaly trace labeling, LabelEase clusters similar traces with a graph-based trace representation technique and selects a few representative traces for human labeling, avoiding labeling most of the traces. For root cause labeling, LabelEase aggregates the labeled anomalous traces and identifies the service's failures for operators to label. Our systematic experiments on two large-scale datasets show that LabelEase achieves over 0.98 F1-score in anomaly trace labeling and 0.89 precision of failure detection in root cause labeling, LabelEase can reduce operators' labeling overhead by more than 99.9%. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to propose a semi-Automatic trace labeling tool capable of achieving efficient and accurate trace labeling. © 2024 IEEE.

Mobile edge computing (MEC) integrated with network Functions Virtualization (NFV) helps run a wide range of services implemented by Virtual network Functions (VNFs) deployed at MEC networks. This emerging paradigm offers flexible edge resource management for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and improves service satisfaction of diverse applications. However, a critical challenge lies in processing extremely unpredictable and bursty traffic flow, especially in event-trigger sensing tasks. In this paper, we study queue-aware service migration and resource allocation in an MEC network, where different devices with different arrival patterns request different network services. To this end, we first formulate a novel long-term operation cost minimization problem subject to the stability of multiple queues by adopting a simultaneous migration scheme and determining resource allocation dynamically. To address the problem efficiently, we propose an online control framework to make decisions without any prior system *** first adopt the Lyapunov optimization technique to decompose the long-term optimization problem into multiper-slot subproblems. Then, we adopt a decoupled optimization algorithm based on the coordinate descent method and augmented Lagrangian method to solve the offline mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) subproblems. Extensive results reveal that the proposed online optimization framework can efficiently balance queue stability and cost consumption. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Domain adaptation techniques help models generalize to target domains by addressing domain discrepancies between the source and target domain data distributions. These techniques are particularly valuable for cross-domain hashing retrieval, as they reduce training costs while maintaining high retrieval efficiency. However, existing unsupervised domain adaptative hashing methods often require access to both source and target domain data, which may raise privacy concerns regarding source domain data. To address these concerns, restricting access to source domain data is crucial, but this restriction also makes the alignment process between domains more challenging. In this paper, we propose a Source-free Domain Adaptive Hashing with Multiple Alignment (SFDAH-MA) approach for image retrieval. SFDAH-MA integrates model structure alignment, class moment alignment, and semantic relationship alignment to maximize inter-domain knowledge transfer. This comprehensive alignment strategy not only enhances retrieval performance across domains but also minimizes reliance on source domain data, thereby supporting data privacy protection. Extensive experiments show that SFDAH-MA achieves state-of-the-art performance in source-free settings and achieves comparable results to existing unsupervised domain adaptive hashing methods under conventional settings. The method of image super-resolution reconstruction through a dictionary usually only uses a single-layer dictionary, which not only fails to extract the deep features of the image, but also the trained dictionary may be relatively large. This paper proposes a new deep dictionary learning model. First, after preprocessing the images of the training set, the dictionary is trained by the deep dictionary learning method, and the super-resolution reconstruction is performed by adjusting the anchored neighborhood regression method. The proposed algorithm is compared with several classical algorithms on the Set5 data set and Set14 data set. The visualization and quantification results show that the proposed algorithm has a good improvement in PSNR and SSIM compared with the traditional super-resolution algorithm, and effectively reduces the dictionary size and saves reconstruction time. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription is the most critical form of TCM treatment, and uncovering the complex nonlinear relationship between symptoms and TCM is of great significance for clinical practice and assisting physicians in diagnosis and treatment. Although there have been some studies on TCM prescription generation, these studies consider a single factor and directly model the symptom-prescription generation problem mainly based on symptom descriptions, lacking guidance from TCM knowledge. To this end, we propose a RoBERTa and Knowledge Enhancement model for Prescription Generation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (RoKEPG). RoKEPG is firstly pre-trained by our constructed TCM corpus, followed by fine-tuning the pre-trained model, and the model is guided to generate TCM prescriptions by introducing four classes of knowledge of TCM through the attention mask matrix. Experimental results on the publicly available TCM prescription dataset show that RoKEPG improves the F1 metric by about 2% over the baseline model with the best results. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent research on fine-tuning vision-language models has demonstrated impressive performance in various downstream tasks. However, the challenge of obtaining accurately labeled data in real-world applications poses a significant obstacle during the fine-tuning process. To address this challenge, this paper presents a Denoising Fine-Tuning framework, called DEFT, for adapting vision-language models. DEFT utilizes the robust alignment of textual and visual features pre-trained on millions of auxiliary image-text pairs to sieve out noisy labels. The proposed framework establishes a noisy label detector by learning positive and negative textual prompts for each class. The positive prompt seeks to reveal distinctive features of the class, while the negative prompt serves as a learnable threshold for separating clean and noisy samples. We employ parameter-efficient fine-tuning for the adaptation of a pre-trained visual encoder to promote its alignment with the learned textual prompts. As a general framework, DEFT can seamlessly fine-tune many pre-trained models to downstream tasks by utilizing carefully selected clean samples. Experimental results on seven synthetic and real-world noisy datasets validate the effectiveness of DEFT in both noisy label detection and image classification tasks. DM-FedMF: A Recommendation Model of Federated Matrix Factorization with Detection Mechanism

Items are recommended to users by the federated recommendation system while protecting user privacy, but there is a risk of the performance of the global model being seriously affected by malicious clients through the tampering of local data and model parameters. In this paper, a federated matrix factorization recommendation model with a detection mechanism(DM-FedMF) is proposed. The experimental analysis concludes that there is a gradient difference in item preference parameters between malicious and benign clients. Accordingly, an objective function is designed to measure item preference differences as a means of identifying malicious clients on the server. Secondly, a malicious client reporting mechanism is proposed to count the reported frequency of all clients and set a threshold. Based on the number of honest clients, the list of attackers is updated. Finally, the malicious client is detected and eliminated based on the list of attackers. The other three defense algorithms are compared with two public datasets in this paper. The experimental results show that the detection mechanism can effectively defend against data poisoning attacks, category attacks, noise attacks, and sign flipping attacks, and the performance of the model's recommendations is better than that achieved by applying other defense methods. © 2025 IEEE.
