Data-Free Knowledge Distillation (DFKD) enables knowledge transfer from teacher networks without access to the real dataset. However, generator-based DFKD methods often suffer from insufficient diversity or low-confidence in synthetic images, negatively impacting student network performance. This paper introduces DFMC, a generative feature-driven framework to mitigate the inherent limitations of DFKD. We propose exploiting semantic description between generative feature domains to guide augmentation strategies, avoiding random abstract inputs caused by inconsistent semantic quality. Then, by applying noise to the generative features, we produce contrastive learning pairs indirectly, limiting the sampling range of the feature domain to encourage the student network to learn domain-invariant features. Finally, we guide the student network to deeply mimic the teacher’s layer-wise implicit classification behavior for the augmented synthetic images. Extensive experiments across various datasets and downstream tasks demonstrate the effectiveness of DFMC, achieving significant improvements while preventing student networks from overfitting to semantic ambiguous images. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Multi-omics cancer data provides complementary views of tumorigenesis and progression. Technical challenges exist in integrating these heterogeneous data into deep learning models to better understand tumorigenesis and predict cancer recurrence. We herein propose a novel end-to-end deep learning method (MULGONET) for cancer recurrence prediction and biomarker discovery. First, MULGONET can effectively solve the curse of dimensionality and the lack of model interpretability in multi-omics data integration. Second, it explores interactions and regulatory relationships between genes and GO terms, thus providing biological insights. Benchmark results show that MULGONET outperforms other contemporary classification methods. It achieves AUPRs of 0.774 ± 0.015, 0.873 ± 0.003 and 0.702 ± 0.011 on the bladder, pancreatic and stomach cancer datasets, respectively. We also show that MULGONET can effectively identify prognostic genes and GO terms associated with cancer recurrence. © 2025

This paper studies the extreme learning machine (ELM)-based time-constrained trajectory tracking control of a class of robotic manipulator systems with model/input uncertainties, matched and mismatched disturbances. A uniform robust exact differentiator (URED) is developed to construct a multi-layer virtual control framework of the robotic manipulator system. Under the control framework, adaptive ELM-based control strategies are proposed to suppress the influence of the uncertainties and disturbances layer-by-layer, combining with the minimum learning parameter (MLP) technique which is employed to reduce the calculation complexity of ELM parameters. The significance of this study is that general model/input uncertainties, matched and mismatched disturbances can be effectively compensated within a limited time, so that bounded trajectory tracking of the robotic manipulator can be achieved avoiding the complexity explosion issue. The time-constrained stability of the closed-loop robotic error systems is proved through Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, comparative simulations are employed to display the feasibility and superiority of the designed robust adaptive ELM-based control schemes of a robotic manipulator system. © 2013 IEEE.

In this paper, we consider a MEC-enabled metaverse scenario which consists of a remote metaverse server and an edge server that cooperates to provide services to mobile users. The edge server is deployed at the base station (BS), serves a dual role: augmenting computational capabilities for user equipment (UE) and pre-caching a portion of the metaverse service contents before each time slot. Moreover, the foreground information and the requested contents generated by the UEs can also be cached to the BS. We formulate a problem to maximize the cache hit number by jointly optimizing contents pre-caching and resource allocation at the BS while considering UEs preference and reducing the UEs total energy consumption, essential for the efficient delivery of services in dynamic MEC environments. To solve this problem, we reformulate it as a partially observable markov decision process and propose an active inference enabled deep reinforcement learning algorithm, which combines active inference with deep reinforcement learning to select the optimal strategy by minimizing the expected free energy. Simulations show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the total quality of experience and the cache hit number of UEs, while minimizing the UEs total energy consumption compared with other baseline algorithms © 2015 IEEE.

Multi-dimensional classification via stacked dependency exploitation

Multi-dimensional classification(MDC) aims to build classification models for multiple heterogenous class spaces simultaneously, where each class space characterizes the semantics of an object w.r.t. one specific dimension. Modeling dependencies among class spaces plays a key role in solving MDC tasks, where most approaches work by assuming directed acyclic graph(DAG) structure or random chaining structure over class spaces. Different from existing probabilistic strategies, a deterministic strategy named Seem for dependency modeling is proposed in this paper via stacked dependency exploitation. In the first-level, pairwise dependencies are considered which can be modeled more reliably than modeling full dependencies among all class spaces by DAG or chaining structure. In the second-level, the class label of unseen instance *** class space is determined by adaptively stacking predictive outputs from first-level pairwise *** results show that stacked dependency exploitation leads to superior performance against stateof-the-art MDC approaches.

Pedestrian Attribute Recognition (PAR) plays a crucial role in various computer vision applications, demanding precise and reliable identification of attributes from pedestrian images. Traditional PAR methods, though effective in leveraging attention mechanisms, often suffer from the lack of direct supervision on attention, leading to potential overfitting and misallocation. This paper introduces a novel and model-agnostic approach, Attention-Aware Regularization (AAR), which rethinks the attention mechanism by integrating causal reasoning to provide direct supervision of attention maps. AAR employs perturbation techniques and a unique optimization objective to assess and refine attention quality, encouraging the model to prioritize attribute-specific regions. Our method demonstrates significant improvement in PAR performance by mitigating the effects of incorrect attention and fostering a more effective attention mechanism. Experiments on standard datasets showcase the superiority of our approach over existing methods, setting a new benchmark for attention-driven PAR models. © 2025 The Authors

Security Analysis of Thumbnail-Preserving Image Encryption and a New Framework

As a primary encryption primitive balancing the privacy and searchability of cloud storage images, thumbnail preserving encryption (TPE) enables users to quickly identify the privacy personal image on the cloud and request this image from the owner through a secure channel. In this paper, we have found that two different plaintext images may produce the same thumbnail. It results in the failure of search strategy because the collision of thumbnail occurs. To address this serious security issues, we conduct an in-depth analysis on the collision probabilities of thumbnails, and then propose a new TPE framework, called multi-factor thumbnail preserving encryption (MFTPE). It starts from the collision probability of two blocks, extend to the probabilities of two images and ultimately to N images. Then, we in detail describe three specific MFTPE constructions preserving different combinations of factors, i.e., the sum and the geometric mean, the sum and the range, and the sum and the weighted mean. The theoretical and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed MFTPE reduces the probability of thumbnails, exhibits strong robustness, and also effectively resists face detection and noise attacks. Ensuring end-to-end cross-layer communication security in military networks by selecting covert schemes between nodes is a key solution for military communication security. With the development of communication technology, covert communication has expanded from the physical layer to the network and application layers, utilizing methods such as artificial noise, private networks, and semantic coding to transmit secret messages. However, as adversaries continuously eavesdrop on specific communication channels, the accumulation of sufficient data may reveal underlying patterns that influence concealment, and establishing a cross-layer covert communication mechanism emerges as an effective strategy to mitigate these regulatory challenges. In this article, we first survey the communication security solution based on covert communication, specifically targeting three typical scenarios: device-to-device, private network communication, and public network communication, and analyze their application scopes. Furthermore, we propose an end-to-end cross-layer covert communication scheme driven by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), highlighting challenges and their solutions. A Construction of Quantum Error-Locating Codes

We present the construction of quantum error-locating(QEL) codes based on classical error-locating(EL)codes. Similar to classical EL codes, QEL codes lie midway between quantum error-correcting codes and quantum errordetecting codes. Then QEL codes can locate qubit errors within one sub-block of the received qubit symbols but do not need to determine the exact locations of the erroneous qubits. We show that, an e-error-locating code derived from an arbitrary binary cyclic code with generator polynomial g(x), can lead to a QEL code with e error-locating abilities, only if g(x) does not contain the(1 + x)-factor.

External Reliable information-enhanced Multimodal Contrastive Learning for Fake News Detection

With the rapid development of the Internet, the information dissemination paradigm has changed and the efficiency has been improved greatly. While this also brings the quick spread of fake news and leads to negative impacts on cyberspace. Currently, the information presentation formats have evolved gradually, with the news formats shifting from texts to multimodal contents. As a result, detecting multimodal fake news has become one of the research hotspots. However, multimodal fake news detection research field still faces two main challenges: the inability to fully and effectively utilize multimodal information for detection, and the low credibility or static nature of the introduced external information, which limits dynamic updates. To bridge the gaps, we propose ERIC-FND, an external reliable information-enhanced multimodal contrastive learning framework for fake news detection. ERIC-FND strengthens the representation of news contents by entity-enriched external information enhancement method. It also enriches the multimodal news information via multimodal semantic interaction method where the multimodal constrative learning is employed to make different modality representations learn from each other. Moreover, an adaptive fusion method is taken to integrate the news representations from different dimensions for the eventual classification. Experiments are done on two commonly used datasets in different languages, X (Twitter) and Weibo. Experiment results demonstrate that our proposed model ERIC-FND outperforms existing state-of-the-art fake news detection methods under the same settings. Copyright © 2025, The Authors.
