Joint extraction of entity and relation is crucial in information extraction, aiming to extract all relation triples from unstructured text. However, current joint extraction methods face two main issues. Firstly, they rarely consider the semantic information of entity and relation labels, leading to models that fail to fully understand and utilize the rich semantics in these labels, thereby limiting their performance. Secondly, although table-filling methods are widely used, they focus only on the start or end positions and ignore deep interactions between tables, relying solely on word-level information. To address these issues, we propose the P-MHE framework based on prompt learning and multi-channel heterogeneous graph enhancement. First, we use prompt templates to construct semantic nodes for entity and relation type labels, initializing them along with words as nodes in a heterogeneous graph. We iteratively fuse these semantic nodes through a message-passing mechanism to obtain node representations suitable for entity and relation extraction tasks. Secondly, we design a multi-channel heterogeneous graph to model node relationships from different perspectives, enhancing feature interactions among different types of nodes. Finally, we aggregate the semantic node information of entity and relation type labels after iteration, constructing separate decoding tables for each entity and relation type to better adapt to their respective characteristics. We evaluated our model on four public datasets. Experimental results show that P-MHE outperforms existing models on multiple public datasets. Extensive additional experiments further validate the effectiveness of our model.

Improving User QoE via Joint Trajectory and Resource Optimization in Multi-UAV Assisted MEC

As a promising network architecture, Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), has been proven that can effectively reduce the end-to-end latency and the energy consumption. The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) assisted MEC network, where the UAV can provide the computation offloading services for the mobile users, can further alleviate the huge deployment cost of static edge servers. However, it remains unsolved how multiple cooperative flying UAVs serve the ground users, especially considering that these UAVs may share the same wireless channel and can communicate with the users while flying. In this paper, we first propose the Age of Task (AoT) metric to measure the quality of experience, and then formulate the joint optimization problem to minimize the worst AoT among all the users. Based on the block coordinate descent (BCD) method, this problem is transformed into three non-convex programming sub-problems (i.e., the UAV-user association sub-problem, the UAV trajectory planning sub-problem and the transmit power optimization sub-problem). Specifically, the successive convex approximation (SCA) technique is exploited iteratively to deal with the non-convexity in the UAV trajectory and transmit power optimization. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the benchmark offloading schemes in terms of AoT. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

With the popularity of the service-oriented development paradigm in the cloud era, numerous cloud APIs have been developed. The continuous proliferation of cloud APIs has submerged developers in a sea of options, bringing the need for cloud API recommendation techniques. Most existing cloud API recommendation methods focus on theoretical studies and neglect practical applications. As a result, these methods face several challenges, such as covering recommendation scenarios, generating real-time responses, and handling concurrent requests. In this paper, we propose and implement a practical cloud API complementary recommendation service for mashup creation. To address the above challenges, we first propose a cloud API complementary recommendation framework named FICR, which exploits feature interactions to mine implicit complementarity and models complementarity from the mashup side and the target cloud API side for scenario coverage. Then, we conduct performance optimization via precoding and batch size tuning to optimize FICR for real-time responses. Finally, we design a minimum-connection load balancing algorithm with resource early warning and build a distributed system for concurrent requests. Experiments conducted on real-world datasets show that FICR outperforms state-of-the-art baseline models in complementary recommendation scenarios, and demonstrate that the implemented service meets the real-time and concurrency requirements. The service will serve as a practical tool to help developers during mashup creation.

Towards Event Extraction with Massive Types: LLM-based Collaborative Annotation and Partitioning Extraction

Developing a general-purpose extraction system that can extract events with massive types is a long-standing target in Event Extraction (EE). In doing so, the challenge comes from two aspects: 1) The absence of an efficient and effective annotation method. 2) The absence of a powerful extraction method can handle massive types. For the first challenge, we propose a collaborative annotation method based on Large Language Models (LLMs). Through collaboration among multiple LLMs, it first refines annotations of trigger words from distant supervision and then carries out argument annotation. Next, a voting phase consolidates the annotation preferences across different LLMs. Finally, we create the EEMT dataset, the largest EE dataset to date, featuring over 200,000 samples, 3,465 event types, and 6,297 role types. For the second challenge, we propose an LLM-based Partitioning EE method called LLM-PEE. To overcome the limited context length of LLMs, LLM-PEE first recalls candidate event types and then splits them into multiple partitions for LLMs to extract events. The results in the supervised setting show that LLM-PEE outperforms the state-of-the-art methods by 5.4% in event detection and 6.1% in argument extraction. In the zero-shot setting, LLM-PEE achieves up to 12.9% improvement compared to mainstream LLMs, demonstrating its strong generalization capabilities. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Traditional LiDAR SLAM approaches prioritize localization over mapping, yet high-precision dense maps are essential for numerous applications involving intelligent agents. Recent advancements have introduced methods leveraging neural fields to enhance mapping capabilities;however, these approaches still face several limitations. Firstly, concerning scene representation, they typically employ neural fields with high-dimensional features and multi-layer perceptron decoders utilizing non-continuous activation functions. This results in low learning efficiency and challenges in capturing high-frequency signals. Secondly, in terms of scene organization, these methods often treat the entire scene as a singular neural field, leading to inefficiencies, inflexibility, and difficulties in rectifying accumulated errors when mapping large-scale environments over extended periods. To tackle the first issue, we propose a lightweight continuous SDF regression approach by encoding the scene in single-valued embeddings and decoding SDF values from a Kolmogorov-Arnold network. By minimizing discrepancies in measuring range, sampling distance, and decoded SDF values, we facilitate iterative frame-to-model tracking and bundle adjustment neural mapping. To mitigate the second challenge, we propose structuring the whole scene into multiple neural SDF submaps. By establishing node-node, node-submap, and loop closure constraints into a global pose graph, the system can create dense neural maps with global consistency across large-scale scenes. Experimental evaluations in both real-world and simulated settings indicate that our system achieves superior mapping completeness and accuracy, enhanced learning efficiency, reduced memory consumption, and greater flexibility compared to its counterparts. © 2025 IEEE.

The demand for precise timing continues to grow with the rapid development of smart cities, where intelligent transportation emerges as a critical application heavily dependent on accurate time distribution. Deterministic communication is anticipated to be a defining feature of nextgeneration mobile networks (6G), enabling end-to-end timecritical applications, and unlocking new possibilities for achieving end-to-end precise time synchronization as well. To cope with the challenge of delivering precise time synchronization across broader areas at a lower cost, this paper proposes a method to achieve end-to-end precise time synchronization by leveraging the deterministic characteristics of communication networks. Specially, the proposed approach adopts the Software-Defined networking (SDN) paradigm to implement deterministic networking for the seamless integration of Time-Sensitive networking (TSN) and cellular networks. Furthermore, to mitigate the impact of wireless channel uncertainties on synchronization accuracy, we propose a network delay measurement mechanism based on the principle of time redundancy, designed to reduce end-to-end network delay variation. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, demonstrating its capability to constrain the end-to-end relative time error of wired and wireless converged networks to the microsecond scale, without necessitating modifications to the existing network infrastructure.

The zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) obtained by global navigation satellite system (GNSS) atmospheric sounding is a pivotal data source for water vapor monitoring. Meteorological changes in Antarctica play an important role in analysis of the global climate, but factors such as complex climatic conditions can limit the collection of meteorological data needed for ZTD retrieval. Therefore, it is necessary to establish high-precision ZTD models that do not rely on measured meteorological data. The existing global pressure and temperature 3 (GPT3) model has limited ability to capture complex weather variations and cannot obtain high-precision GPT3_ZTD. To address the above issues, this research proposes a high-precision ZTD model through using temporal convolutional network (TCN) for improving the hourly global pressure and temperature 2 (HGPT2) model. The HGTP2 model based on Fourier analysis and the time-segmentation concept can consider the linear trend of climate variations, simultaneously the TCN is introduced to simulate the long-term temporal dependence of HGPT2_ZTD, so as to achieve the goal of obtaining high-precision ZTD without relying on measured meteorological data. The experimental results show that the precision of TCN_ZTD obtained from the proposed model is higher than GPT3_ZTD and HGPT2_ZTD when using the GNSS_ZTD observations obtained from 35 stations in Antarctica as a reference, and the improvement of the model is obvious. © 2024, Aerospace information Research Institute.

Machine learning, especially deep learning, has made great achievements in application domains such as computer vision, speech recognition, machine translation, etc. This great success not only depends on the progress of model design but also on the emergence of large-scale annotated benchmark datasets. However, in some application domains, it is difficult to apply machine learning methods to solve the new arising problems due to the lack of standardized and annotated datasets. People have to find their way from the very beginning of the data collecting, cleaning, and labeling. Unfortunately, there is not a guiding framework to deal with such a situation. This paper pays attention to it and proposes a general machine learning framework to solve the pratical problems from the scratch. It contains two main stages implemented by an unsupervised clustering method and a semi-supervised learning method representatively. In the first stage, an unsupervised clustering method is utilized to find representative data samples which are more important and can be used to do data cleaning and manual labeling. In the second stage, a semi-supervised method is adopted to predict the labels for the rest data samples and to construct a larger annotated dataset. A case study in the texture perception field has been done to confirm the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed application framework. © 2021 IEEE.

Cloud data center networks have a complex structure, in which multiple network protocols are utilised to participate in the composition of the data center. How to achieve topology discovery and mapping in the face of complex, multi-structured cloud data centre network devices has become a hot research problem. network tomography (NT), as an end-to-end measurement technique of network boundaries, enables protocol-independent network measurements without the collaboration of internal nodes. The emergence of this technique provides a new research idea for cloud data center network topology mapping. In this paper, we propose a topology discovery technique based on the delay covariance matrix and a topology optimisation method based on the delay peak map, and conduct simulations for these two algorithms to verify the feasibility of the protocol-independent topology discovery technique applied to data center topology discovery. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In satellite communications, global navigation satellite systems(GNSS) and other important space activities, the value of total electron content (TEC) in the ionosphere directly affects the size of ionospheric delay. Achieving accurate prediction of ionospheric total electron content through modeling can effectively improve the reliability and accuracy of GNSS positioning. Considering the high prediction accuracy of long short-term memory neural network (LSTM) and the fast training speed of gated recurrent unit network (GRU), but it is easy to fall into the local optimum, while the width learning system(BLS) can effectively avoid this drawback. Therefore, this paper proposes a model for predicting the total electron content of the ionosphere, which consists of a broad learning system, an LSTM network and a GRU networks. Six parameters of TEC, geomagnetic index Dst, Kp, Ap, solar activity index F10.7, and hour (HD) are selected as input features from the observed data to predict the variation of the total ionospheric electron content. The results generate prediction maps of the total ionospheric electron content and are compared with empirical models and conventional neural network models at different times and solar activity conditions. The experimental results show that the root mean square error (RMSE) of the prediction results of this BLS-LSTM-GRU model is decreased by 23.07%, 17.48% and 9.46% compared with the IRI-2016, NeQuick and CNN-LSTM prediction models, respectively, with higher prediction accuracy. © 2024, Aerospace information Research Institute.
