With the proliferation of multi-modal data, safe and efficient multi-modal hashing retrieval has become a pressing research challenge, particularly due to concerns over data privacy during centralized processing. To address this, we propose Prototype-based Federated Multi-modal Hashing (PFMH), an innovative framework that seamlessly integrates federated learning with multi-modal hashing techniques. PFMH achieves fine-grained fusion of heterogeneous multi-modal data, enhancing retrieval accuracy while ensuring data privacy through prototype-based communication, thereby reducing communication costs and mitigating risks of data leakage. Furthermore, using a prototype completion strategy, PFMH tackles class imbalance and statistical heterogeneity in multi-modal data, improving model generalization and performance across diverse data distributions. Extensive experiments demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of PFMH within the federated learning framework, enabling distributed training for secure and precise multi-modal retrieval in real-world scenarios. Edge computing is an emerging promising computing paradigm that brings computation and storage resources to the network edge, significantly reducing service latency. In this paper, we aim to divide the task into several sub-tasks through its inherent interrelation, guided by the idea of high concurrency for synchronization, and then offload sub-tasks to other edge servers so that they can be processed to minimize the cost. Furthermore, we propose a DRL-based Multi-Task Dependency Offloading Algorithm (MTDOA) to solve challenges caused by dependencies between sub-tasks and dynamic working scenes. Firstly, we model the Markov decision process as the task offloading decision. Then, we use the graph attention network to extract the dependency information of different tasks and combine Long Short-term Memory (LSTM) with Deep Q network (DQN) to deal with time-dependent problems. Finally, simulation experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm boasts good convergence ability and is superior to several other baseline algorithms, proving this algorithm’s effectiveness and reliability. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

WiFi-based human gesture recognition has recently enjoyed increasing popularity in the Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios. Simultaneously recognizing user identities and user gestures is of great importance for enhancing the system security and user quality of experience (QoE). State-of-the-art approaches that perform dual tasks suffer from increased latency or degraded accuracy in cross-domain scenarios. In this paper, we present WiDual, a dual-task system that achieves accurate cross-domain gesture recognition and user identification based on WiFi in a real-time manner. The basic idea of WiDual is to use the attention mechanism to adaptively explore cross-domain features worthy of attention for dual tasks. WiDual employs a CSI (Channel Statement information) visualization method that transfers WiFi signals to images for further feature extraction and model training. In this way, WiDual mitigates the possible loss of useful information and excessive delays caused by extracting handcrafted features directly from the WiFi signal. Furthermore, WiDual utilizes a collaboration module to combine gesture features and user identity features to enhance the performance of dual-task recognition. We implement WiDual and evaluate its performance extensively on a public dataset including 6 gestures and 6 users performed across domains. Results show that WiDual outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, with 26% and 8% improvements on the accuracy of cross-domain user identification and gesture recognition respectively.

To achieve progressive and accurate decision-making for long-term time series data while meeting the needs of privacy-friendly and early, this paper proposes a universal framework for sequential progressive decision-making (SPD). This framework first segments the data and sets up multiple columns of neural networks according to the number of segments. Each column can make segmented decisions based on the inputs for the period. Additionally, without sharing the original data, the framework leverages lateral hidden layer connections between preceding and succeeding columns to obtain useful features for subsequent decision-making, gradually improving accuracy while avoiding the risk of data leakage. SPD has the advantages of privacy friendliness, column model diversification, prior knowledge reuse, and easy scalability, making it an effective framework for continuous decision-making. The effectiveness of that was validated using various network models in handwritten digit recognition and electrocardiogram classification tasks. The obtained experimental results reveal that SPD not only enables early decision-making while ensuring accuracy but also achieves accuracy levels comparable to or even surpassing those obtained using complete data, with the added benefit of privacy protection.

Enhancing the communication rate and quality has become the primary goal for the development of next-generation mobile communication networks, and traditional techniques such as MIMO and increasing the transmit power of the base station (BS) have not achieved a leapfrog effect. The emergence of Intelligent Reflective Surfaces (IRS) provides more reliable technical support for providing high-energy and high-rate communications. However, IRS-aided joint optimization with communication rate and quality of service constraints is a non-convex non-smooth optimization problem, and the optimal global solution cannot be obtained due to its computational complexity. In this paper, we propose an intelligent Advanced Non-convex Non-smooth Scheme (ANNS) in IRS-aided Next Generation Mobile Communication networks for making the transmission rate of mission communication and communication quality effective. To ensure that the inequality constraints in the joint optimization problem are not violated and the equation constraints are satisfied, a hybrid deep reinforcement learning and data-experience-driven constraint security layer network is proposed, which maps the constraint violations into the safe feasible domain by mapping the constraint variables into the constraint variables mapping method, and the convergence of the algorithm is theoretically demonstrated. Experimental results show that the proposed ANNS performs superior optimization compared to SAC, DDPG, and A2C for solving non-convex non-smooth problems. The proposed ANNS has the potential to be generalized to other mobile computing applications with non-convex non-smooth characteristics. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

How to schedule public resources to maximize the coverage of crowds has always been a hot topic. There are mainly two types of research. One is the scheduling of static resources, whose coverage efficiency is lower because the resources cannot be moved; the other is the dynamic scheduling of movable public resources, but the existing methods require additional devices to collect crowd volume data. To address this issue, this article introduces a new category of mobile agents that can sense and execute simultaneously. This means that an agent can simultaneously perform crowd volume data collection tasks and crowds coverage tasks in its area. Taking these multi-ability agents as public resources, this article proposes a scheduling method called GE-STMC (Greedy Execute - Spatial and Temporal Monte-Carlo dropout). The method considers the spatiotemporal correlation between areas and evaluates the sensing value and the executing value of areas comprehensively to allocate the agents accordingly. Through the experimental on the real data of Beijing Happy Valley, this method can get 16% larger crowds volume coverage than other baseline methods with the same number of agents.

A Fair and Efficient Protocol for the Millionaires' Problem

In the semi-honest model, Lin and Tzeng proposed an efficient solution to the millionaires' problem based on homomorphic encryption. They reduced the problem to the set intersection problem by encoding the private inputs in a special way (the encoding method allows an efficient protocol for the set intersection problem). This paper modifies Lin and Tzeng's protocol by introducing an Oblivious third party, and the modification is fair and secure in the same model. Compared with some of the previous fair protocols, our protocol relaxes the cryptographic assumption or the trust model. Compared with other previous fair protocols, our protocol are more efficient. We also consider security against malicious adversaries, i.e., malicious participants (the two millionaires) and third party.

A low-profile, high-gain, wideband circularly polarized folded transmitarray antenna (CPFTA) is proposed, and a polarization-selective linear-to-circular polarization (LP-CP) conversion element is introduced. The CPFTA consists of a linearly polarized (LP) magnetoelectric dipole antenna and a circularly polarized (CP) helical patch antenna. The CPFTA demonstrates excellent performance with a 3dB gain bandwidth of 29.5% and a 3dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 40.9%. © 2024 IEEE.
