Inserting nonreciprocal devices at the doorways of Alice and Bob is a widely recognized countermeasure against quantum hacking attacks in quantum key distribution (QKD) systems. However, traditional integrated nonreciprocal devices, which are typically based on magneto-optical effects, face challenges in compatibility with current semiconductor integration technology. As a result, earlier chip-based QKD systems were unable to integrate nonreciprocal components and were vulnerable to injecting-type attacks. Based on the actual parameters of SOI integration, we employed the inverse design with the direct binary search algorithm to construct several magnetic-free nonreciprocal devices, facilitating their integration into chip-based QKD systems while meeting various chip configuration design requirements. The designed devices have sizes of only a few square micrometers, yet the quasi-isolator can achieve an isolation level exceeding 27 dB. To demonstrate their practical utility in QKD, we employed the designed devices to safeguard the QKD system against Trojan-horse attacks. The simulation results demonstrate that our proposed devices effectively secure the BB84 and measure-device-independent QKD systems against Trojan-horse attacks. © 2023, CC BY.

Label Distribution Feature Selection Based on Neighborhood Rough Set

In label distribution learning, an instance is involved with many labels in different importance degrees, and the feature space of instances is accompanied with thousands of redundant and/or irrelevant features. Therefore, the main characteristic of feature selection in label distribution learning is to evaluate the discriminable ability of each feature. Motivated by neighborhood rough set, which can be used to measure the dependency degree of feature via constructing neighborhood relations on feature space and label space, respectively, this paper proposes a novel lable distribution feature selection method. In this paper, the neighborhood class of instance in label distribution space is defined, which is beneficial to recognize the logical class of target instance. Then, a new neighborhood rough set model for label distribution learning is proposed. Specially, the dependency degree of feature combining label weight is defined. Finally, a label distribution feature selection based on neighborhood rough set is presented. Gastric cancer is a serious health threat, and pathological imaging is important in detecting it. These images can assist doctors in accurately determining the location of the cancer, thereby providing an important reference for clinical decision-making. In the field of image processing, deep learning technology is leading to more and more excellent segmentation models. The Trans-Unet model has achieved success in the image segmentation. However, when applying this model to gastric cancer pathological section data, the segmentation boundary appears jagged. We propose three possible solutions. First, we designed an attention connection module to replace the skip connections in the model to enhance the prediction accuracy of the model. Second, we designed a prediction processing unit that takes the model’s prediction results as input and uses a Conditional Random Field (CRF) for further prediction calculations. To enable the model to meet the requirements of multi-classification of images, we designed a dynamic weight selection module to enhance the model’s accuracy for multi-classification tasks. After our optimization, the optimized model improved by 8% on the DSC evaluation index and 39% on the HD evaluation index. In addition, the jagged boundary problem in the prediction results has also been effectively improved. Through comparative experiments and erosion experiments, we found that the improved method enhances the accuracy of model prediction and reduces the jagged results at the boundary.

ChainPIM: A ReRAM-Based Processing-in-Memory Accelerator for HGNNs via Chain Structure

Heterogeneous graph neural networks (HGNNs) have recently demonstrated significant advantages of capturing powerful structural and semantic information in heterogeneous graphs. Different from homogeneous graph neural networks directly aggregating information based on neighbors, HGNNs aggregate information based on complex metapaths. ReRAM-based processing-in-memory (PIM) architecture can reduce data movement and compute matrix-vector multiplication (MVM) in analog. It can be well used to accelerate HGNNs. However, the complex metapath-based aggregation of HGNNs makes it challenging to efficiently utilize the parallelism of ReRAM and vertices data reuse. To this end, we propose ChainPIM, the first ReRAM-based processing-in-memory accelerator for HGNNs featuring high computing parallelism and vertices data reuse. Specifically, we introduce R-Chain, which is based on a chain structure to build related metapath instances together. We can efficiently reuse vertices through R-Chain and process different R-Chains in parallel. Then, we further design an efficient storage format for storing R-Chains, which reduces a lot of repeated vertices storage. Finally, a specialized ReRAM-based architecture is developed to pipeline different types of aggregations in HGNNs, fully exploiting the huge potential of multi-level parallelism in HGNNs. Our experiments show that ChainPIM achieves an average memory space reduction of 47.86% and performance improvement by 128.29× compared to NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Self-Attention Policy Optimization for Task Offloading and Resource Allocation in Low-Carbon Agricultural Consumer Electronic Devices

In recent years, the widespread use of edge agricultural consumer electronics has greatly contributed to the level of intelligence in agricultural production, bringing higher efficiency and quality. However, offloading all tasks to the cloud incurs significant latency and resource waste, while relying solely on edge computing fails to meet the computational demands of the entire system. To solve the above problems, we introduce the device-edge-cloud (DEC) three-layer architecture, where agri-consumer electronics devices can partially offload tasks to the edge, and the edge can partially offload tasks to the cloud, i.e., agri-consumer electronics can realize device-edge-cloud collaborative computation. Second, we model the joint computation offloading and resource allocation optimization problem as a non-convex optimization and propose a novel Self-Attention Policy Optimization (SAPO) algorithm to solve it. Experiments show that the joint optimization performance of the proposed SAPO exceeds the baseline, and it is suitable for many different models. Compared with fully connected networks, it has better convergence and robustness, with a convergence speed 50% faster than the fully connected networks. The proposed SAPO algorithm has good scalability and adaptability, and has the potential to be extended to smart agricultural computing scenarios with non-convex optimization. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

In the few-shot hyperspectral image (HSI) classification, most current models don't fully utilize the advantage of spectral-spatial feature fusion, resulting in low classification accuracy. Therefore, we propose a few-shot HSI classification model with spectral-spatial feature fusion based on fuzzy broad learning system (FBLS) (FSFBLS). Firstly, we use a Gaussian filter to suppress noise while smoothing spectral features based on spatial information to achieve the first fusion of spectral-spatial features. Secondly, we use FBLS with fuzzy rules to fully model the complex mapping relationship between spectral-spatial features and HSI labels to complete HSI classification. The fuzzy processing can extract rich discriminative features to enhance the recognition of different categories. Finally, the guided filter corrects the misclassified samples of FBLS based on the guided image to achieve the second fusion of spectral-spatial features. Extensive experimental results on three public datasets demonstrate that FSFBLS achieves state-of-the-art classification performance compared to nine popular models.

Driven by the vision of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) toward 6G technology, the WiFi-based respiration sensing approach has emerged as a highly competitive candidate for advanced healthcare services. Nevertheless, the indiscriminate perception of all the moving objects within the sensing area raises challenges for system stability and robustness for real-world deployment, especially for the susceptibility to motion interference from other people. Meanwhile, thanks to the emerging in-area wireless sensing technologies, i.e., beamforming, the dynamic environment tolerance of these technologies gives crucial opportunities for target-oriented WiFi-based healthcare services. This article discusses the compelling intersection of in-area WiFi sensing and the future of target-oriented intelligent respiratory healthcare network services. We first present a novel WiFi-based healthcare-assisting framework tailored for inter-user motion interference-tolerable (IMIT) sensing. The detailed components of low-level signal preprocessing, target-direction signal extraction, and healthcare-related services are discussed. By utilizing CSI beamforming technology, which adjusts a directional beam toward the desired direction and adaptively places beam nulls in noisy directions, we can mitigate motion interference and achieve target-oriented healthcare sensing. Finally, we discuss open challenges and potential solutions for target-oriented WiFi healthcare sensing. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

The transformers have achieved significant accomplishments in the natural language processing as its outstanding parallel processing capabilities and highly flexible attention mechanism. In addition, increasing studies based on transformers have been proposed to model single-cell data. In this review, we attempt to systematically summarize the single-cell language models and applications based on transformers. First, we provide a detailed introduction about the structure and principles of transformers. Then, we review the single-cell language models and large language models for single-cell data analysis. Moreover, we explore the datasets and applications of single-cell language models in downstream tasks such as batch correction, cell clustering, cell type annotation, gene regulatory network inference and perturbation response. Further, we discuss the challenges of single-cell language models and provide promising research directions. We hope this review will serve as an up-to-date reference for researchers interested in the direction of single-cell language models. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Partially Hidden Policy Attribute-Based Multi-keyword Searchable Encryption with Verification and Revocation

Data security is becoming increasingly critical as outsourced data services flourish. An effective solution for ensuring data confidentiality in the cloud is attribute-based searchable encryption (ABSE). However, most extant ABSE solutions have not been able to simultaneously achieve rich expressive queries, result validation, attribute revocation, and policy hiding, and there are problems such as inflexibility in query methods and access control capabilities, insufficient scalability and practicality, and privacy leakage. In particular, it should be noted that most ABSE schemes fail to promise the privacy security of access policies and are susceptible to offline keyword guessing attack. Hidden policy-ABSE (HP-ABSE) has been proposed to tackle the issue of explicit attribute values in access policies potentially compromising privacy. Nevertheless, in most existing HP-ABSE schemes, an adversary may initiate attribute values guessing attack to speculate on the values of attribute within access strategy. To this end, this paper proposes partially hidden policy attribute-based multi-keyword searchable encryption with verification and revocation (PHP-ABMKSE-VR). PHP-ABMKSE-VR scheme is practical, secure, as well as effective, making it appropriate for real-world scenarios like smart healthcare, as demonstrated by the experimental outcomes and safety analysis. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Long-Tail Learning with Foundation Model: Heavy Fine-Tuning Hurts

The fine-tuning paradigm in addressing long-tail learning tasks has sparked significant interest since the emergence of foundation models. Nonetheless, how fine-tuning impacts performance in long-tail learning was not explicitly quantified. In this paper, we disclose that heavy fine-tuning may even lead to non-negligible performance deterioration on tail classes, and lightweight fine-tuning is more effective. The reason is attributed to inconsistent class conditions caused by heavy fine-tuning. With the observation above, we develop a low-complexity and accurate long-tail learning algorithms LIFT with the goal of facilitating fast prediction and compact models by adaptive lightweight fine-tuning. Experiments clearly verify that both the training time and the learned parameters are significantly reduced with more accurate predictive performance compared with state-of-the-art approaches.
