Semantic-Aware Pseudo-Labeling for Unsupervised Meta-Learning

In unsupervised meta-learning, the clustering-based pseudo-labeling approach is an attractive framework, since it is model-agnostic, allowing it to synergize with supervised algorithms to learn from unlabeled data. However, the pseudo-labels suffer from clustering noise and semantic chaos problems, further impacting the effectiveness of meta-learning. In this paper, we analyze and optimize the pseudo-labeling process, including encoding and clustering, aiming to generate semantic-like pseudo-labels to narrow the gap between unsupervised and supervised meta-learning. First, during the encoding, we observe that the embedding space of existing methods lacks clustering-friendly properties, which is the primary reason for clustering noise. To address this issue, we minimize the inter-to-intra-class similarity ratio to generate clustering-friendly embedding features and validate our approach through comprehensive experiments. Then, during the clustering, we find that the semantic quality of pseudo-labels is not adequately controlled, resulting in semantic chaos of pseudo-labels. We propose a semantic-stability index to measure the semantic quality of pseudo-labels quantitatively. Based on this index, we propose the Semantic-aware Pseudo-label Reassignment mechanism to generate semantic-like pseudo-labels for all samples. Our approach is model-agnostic and can easily be integrated into existing supervised methods. To demonstrate its generalization ability, we integrate it into two representative algorithms: MAML and EP. The results on three main few-shot benchmarks clearly show that the proposed method achieves significant improvement compared to state-of-the-art models. Notably, our approach also outperforms the corresponding supervised method in three tasks. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

A Caching Strategy Based on Many-to-Many Matching Game in D2D networks

Wireless edge caching has been proposed to reduce data traffic congestion in backhaul links, and it is being envisioned as one of the key components of next-generation wireless networks. This paper focuses on the influences of different caching strategies in Device-to-Device(D2D) networks. We model the D2D User Equipments(DUEs) as the Gauss determinantal point process considering the repulsion between DUEs, as well as the caching replacement process as a many-to-many matching game. By analyzing existing caching placement strategies, a new caching strategy is proposed, which represents the preference list of DUEs as the ratio of content popularity to cached probability. There are two distinct features in the proposed caching strategy.(1) It can cache other contents besides high popularity contents.(2) It can improve the cache hit ratio and reduce the latency compared with three caching placement strategies: Least Recently Used(LRU), Equal Probability Random Cache(EPRC), and the Most Popular Content Cache(MPC). Meanwhile, we analyze the effect of caching on the system performance in terms of different content popularity factors and cache capacity. Simulation results show that our proposed caching strategy is superior to the three other comparison strategies and can significantly improve the cache hit ratio and reduce the latency.

This paper tackles the problem of estimating the frequency distribution on the crowdsourced multidimensional categorical data under local differential privacy(LDP).Although the frequency estimation problem under LDP[1]has attracted a lot of attention in recent years,currently,to our knowledge,the existing works are all devoted to optimizing the absolute error,rather than relative *** the work for the former,the one targeting at the latter should take the true frequency distribution into consider and design true frequency distribution-sensitive data collection protocol so that the skewed distribution,which involves smaller frequency in high probability,is with less ***,it is challenging to fulfill such a requirement,since the true frequency distribution is private information and not available.

The existing group public key encryption with equality test schemes could only support one-to-one data sharing and are not suitable for cloud-assisted autonomous transportation systems, which demand one-to-many data sharing. To tackle this problem efficiently, in this article, we put forward the group-attribute-based encryption with equality test (G-ABEET) scheme. The presented G-ABEET allows sensors equipped in vehicles to encrypt traffic data with an expressive access policy before sharing it. Only users with attributes required by the access policy ought to access the shared ciphertexts, thus achieving selective one-to-many data sharing. Meanwhile, the authorized cloud server could provide group users with equality tests over the ciphertexts, realizing ciphertext search ability. Furthermore, with the group mechanism, the G-ABEET scheme could resist offline message recovery attacks. Besides, in the standard model, we give rigorous security proof of the G-ABEET construction. The feasibility and efficiency of G-ABEET are demonstrated by experimental simulations. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

With the rapid growth of social media and e-commerce, users are generating large amounts of textual review data on these platforms. Analyzing and mining these comment data is important for governments, enterprises, and consumers to make decisions. Therefore, sentiment analysis, especially for Chinese comments, has become an area of wide interest in industry and academia. Aiming at the characteristics of Chinese online reviews, this paper applies the techniques of knowledge graph and deep learning around sentence-level sentiment analysis and designs a sentiment analysis model that integrates different information such as sentiment knowledge graph and serialized annotation in a deep learning model to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of sentiment analysis of Chinese online reviews. This is important for improving products and services, understanding user needs, and making more informed business and policy decisions. © 2023 IEEE.

A deep learning model enabled multi-event recognition for distributed optical fiber sensing

Fiber optic sensors that utilize backscattered light offer distributed real-time measurements and have been seen tremendous improvements in sensing distance and spatial resolution over the last ***, these improvements in sensor capabilities lead to a significant increase in the amount of data that needs to be processed. Traditional processing schemes are no longer adequate, so the development of novel signal processing methods is critical. Phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometry(Φ-OTDR) is now applied in various applications for multi-event recognition, and it would usually be difficult, sometimes even unrealistic to label all the acquired samples due to its real-time and seamless monitoring nature. To fully take advantage of the information contained within the large number of unlabeled samples, which were formerly not utilized and hence wasted, we propose a semi-supervised model to boost the event classification performance of Φ-OTDR. The model extracts respectively the temporal features and the spatial bidirectional features together with a dual attention mechanism. Its classification accuracy has been improved up to 96.9%with only 1230 labeled samples. In addition, our model shows significant advantages when the number of labeled samples is reduced. Importantly, our method improves the accuracy of multi-event classification without any modification to the optical setup.

Federated learning (FL) is a distributed learning method that reduces data transmission and privacy risks. However, the existence of a central server may become a target of attackers, resulting in an increased risk of user privacy leakage. The emergence of Decentralized Federated Learning (DFL) is posited to enhance data privacy and system reliability by reducing reliance on central servers and enhancing local data control, especially in the medical field, where personal health data is protected. This research investigates the application of (DFL) in the medical domain, focusing on its limitations. This study employs a systematic literature review, adhering to PRISMA guidelines, to comprehensively understand DFL's current landscape and challenges in healthcare. The key findings highlight four principal obstacles faced by DFL: security and privacy, communication efficiency, data and model heterogeneity, and incentive mechanisms. It also explores the potential for DFL to facilitate personalized healthcare treatments by large datasets distributed across various medical institutions. This research fills a significant void by systematically reviewing DFL technologies in healthcare. It provides insights into applications, challenges, and future directions for participants seeking secure and efficient healthcare data handling. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently, the rapid advancement of communication technology has undoubtedly improved people's lives. Unfortunately, this progress has also given rise to a significant issue: the proliferation of phishing websites. Regrettably, phishing web sites have now emerged as one of the primary threats to cybersecurity. While there have been extensive efforts to develop anti-phishing techniques, many of these approaches focus solely on a single modality of information, such as the website's URL, HTML source code, or visual features. Given the growing sophistication of phishing attacks, relying on just one modality of information is no longer sufficient to accurately identify phishing websites. To tackle this challenge, our research aims to leverage the complementarity of various modalities to enhance phishing website detection. In this paper, we introduce a multi-modal framework called FusionNet to identify phishing web pages. This framework utilizes three distinct information modalities: URLs, HTML source codes, and visual features. Specifically, our approach first designs specific representation learning architectures tailored to each modality's unique properties. Subsequently, we incorpo-rate an attention mechanism to merge these representations, thereby exploiting the synergies between the multi-modal data. The learned feature representations are more discriminative, contributing to significantly improved phishing website detection accuracy. To evaluate the performance of FusionNet, we collect a dataset comprising phishing webpages, each sample contains all three modalities-URLs, HTML source codes, and visual features. Our extensive experiments conducted on this dataset demonstrate that FusionNet outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of both robustness and accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.
