Users sometimes cannot remember the exact words of desktop filenames and meet trouble in re-finding these desktop files. In this condition the existing keyword based desktop search tools cannot work well. In this paper, we first analyze the synonym relationship among the words utilized in naming personal desktop files. Then, we propose a synonym-based desktop search method to solve the problem, and name it SynDS. By comparing it with a popular desktop search tool "MS Desktop Search", SynDS shows better recall and precision, which means it can help users re-find desktop files in some conditions when the traditional methods fail to work.

key-value (KV) stores based on the Log-Structure Merge tree (LSM-tree) have been widely used in modern storage systems (e.g. LevelDB and RocksDB) to achieve high write throughput. However, conventional LSM-tree design has high latency for random read operations, especially in the workloads with concurrent read and write operations. This paper proposes a dual-grained cache scheme to improve the performance of LSM-tree based KV stores, in which a coarse-grained cache improves read performance by leveraging spatial locality and a fine-grained cache tracks the frequently accessed KV pairs. We implement the dual-grained caching on a LSM-tree simulator and evaluate its performance using various Yahoo! Cloud Service Benchmark (YCSB) workloads. Our experimental results show that the proposed way of dual-grained caches can significantly improve the read performance of KV stores without sacrificing the advantages of the LSM-tree for write-intensive workloads. © 2019 IEEE.

In various applications in Internet of Things like industrial monitoring, large amounts of floating-point time series data are generated at an unprecedented rate. Efficient compression algorithms can effectively reduce the size of data, enhance transmission performance and storage efficiency, and simultaneously lower storage costs. Therefore, there is a need for lightweight and efficient stream compression algorithms. In this paper, we propose a novel lossless floating-point data compression algorithm called Ant. The main idea is to encode double-precision floating-point numbers into integer form, calculate the delta between adjacent values, and then convert the delta into unsigned integers. This encoding method effectively reduces storage costs and improves data compression efficiency. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that our algorithm achieves compression speeds at least as fast as state-of-the-art streaming methods, and a 63% relative improvement in average compression rate. © 2023 IEEE.

With the success of multimodal pre-training models in the video-language field and various downstream tasks, previous multimodal models used 3DCNN networks as video feature extractors, which have limitations in interacting and fusing with text features. This paper proposes a multimodal pre-training model that utilizes a Video-Swin-Transformer-based network to encode both video and text data, to achieve better performance in video understanding. The model consists of four modules: video encoder, text encoder, interact encoder, and caption decoder to accomplish the task of ocean scene video captioning. A dataset of ocean scene videos, including various content types such as sea surfaces and shores, is also constructed. The training process is divided into two stages: pre-training and fine-tuning. Pre-training is performed on the Howto100m dataset to allow the model to learn video captions in natural scenes and complete video-language matching tasks. The fine-tuning stage is then performed on the ocean1000 dataset to better understand the events and content in ocean scene videos and generate captions that conform to ocean scene video descriptions. The model achieves satisfying results on both the public dataset YouCook2 and the proprietary dataset Ocean1000, demonstrating its ability in video-text information fusion and interaction. © 2023 IEEE.

Ambulatory electrocardiogram is used to record about 24 hours electrocardiogram waveform. The purpose is to find out the conspicuous variation in the recording data. A new strategy used to cluster the electrocardiogram waveform is presented in this paper. The aim of that is to obtain more accurate clustering results. After the controlled trial on MIT/BIH data, it can be safely concluded that the clustering result achieved by improved strategy can got more accurate than that by the traditional clustering algorithm. An average accuracy ratio is about 94.6%, 1.6% higher than k-means algorithm averagely and 1.3% higher than Simulated Annealing algorithm averagely. ©2009 IEEE.

Spike sorting is the essential step in analyzing recording spike signals for studying information processing mechanisms within the nervous system. Overlapping is one of the most serious problems in the spike sorting for multi-channel recordings. In this paper, a modified radial basis function (RBF) network is proposed to decompose the overlapping signals and separate spikes within the same RBF network. A modified radial basis function based on the Gaussian function is employed in the method to improve the accuracy of overlap decomposition. In addition, the improved constructing algorithm reduces the calculation cost by taking advantage of the symmetry of the RBF network. The performance of the presented method is tested at various signal-to-noise ratio levels based on simulated data coming from the University of Leicester and Wave-clus software. Experiment results show that our method successfully solves the fully overlapping problem and has higher accuracy comparing with the Gaussian function. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

To improve the convergence time of Ant Colony Algorithm, avoid falling in local best and enhance the quality of solution, a novel dynamic parameters ant colony algorithm with particle swarm characteristics is proposed. Learning the multi-information instruction characteristic of Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm, the global pheromone update rule with particle swarm characteristic is introduced to improve the directive function of pheromone and the speed of convergence. At the same time, solution multiplicity is guaranteed as far as possible. Using the function of current condition to update particle speed and position, parameters of Ant Colony Algorithm is used to reflect the current condition. Hyperbola Tangent function is imported to dynamic adjust parameters so that the relation between local search and global search could be balanced. Comparing with basic Ant Colony Algorithm, the simulation result on TSP shows that new algorithm has higher convergence speed and better solution. © 2009 IEEE.

A new kind of neural-based market prediction computing approach for electronic commerce has beenpresented by our research group in this paper. Our purpose is to suggest a successful and efficient prediction method of risk assessment for the clients to get substantial profits in competitive commerce markets of electronic commerce. In this paper we study the benefits of combining two layered feedforward neural networks trained by back propagation on an identical data set. In this case, network diversity was achieved by the inherent randomness associated with the back-propagation algorithm's initialization of a network's weights. By case experiments of risk assessment of electronic commerce, our technique has been tested effectively. © 2009 IEEE.
