In this paper, a novel example based method is proposed to solve the remote sensing pan-sharpening problem, utilizing an implicit non-parametric learning framework. The high resolution (HR) and down-sampled panchromatic (PAN) images are used to train the high/low resolution patch pair dictionaries. Based on the perspective of locally linear embedding (LLE), every patch in each multi-spectral (MS) image band is modeled by its K nearest neighbors in patch set generated from low resolution (LR) PAN image, and this model can be generalized to the HR condition. The intended HR MS patch is reconstructed from the corresponding neighbors in HR PAN patches. Finally, the HR MS images are recovered by stitching these patches together. Two datasets of images acquired by Quick-Bird satellite are used to test the performance of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the proposed method performs well in preserving spectral information as well as spatial details.

To construct Anhui-Styled Architecture (ASA) models rapidly and automatically, we proposed an automatic modeling method by analyzing the basic structure of ASA in-depth. Firstly, we built modules' database, composition rule database and repository database of ASA. Then, we translated each module of architecture into a node of graph and traverse these nodes using Breadth-First Traversal(BFS) algorithm of Graph to get descript document of single building. Finally, large scale scene of ASA were constructed automatically by combine the descript document and large scale ground scenes. Experimental results show that our method is rapid and effective for constructing ASA models.

Six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) haptic rendering is challenging when multi-region contacts occur between the graphic avatar of a haptic tool operated by a human user, which we call the graphic tool, and deformable objects. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for deformation modeling based on a spring-sphere tree representation of deformable objects and a configuration-based constrained optimization method for determining the 6-dimensional configuration of the graphic tool and the contact force/torque response to the tool. This method conducts collision detection, deformation computation, and tool configuration optimization very efficiently based on the spring-sphere tree model, avoids inter-penetration, and maintains stability of haptic display without using virtual coupling. Experiments on typical dental operations are carried out to validate the efficiency and stability of the proposed method. The update rate of the haptic simulation loop is maintained at ~1kHz.

We found that the discrepancy between different finger vein templates of the same finger affects the identification results more seriously than the similarity of templates of different fingers does. Some areas on templates have stable values while some other areas are variable. We propose the Occurrence Probability Matrix (OPM), which is a property of a finger, to define the stability. When matching two templates using OPM, the areas of higher stability make more contribution to the result and those of lower stability make less contribution. In this way, OPM can enhance the similarity of templates of the same finger and drop off the influence of the unsteady areas. In a finger vein verification system running for a long time, we can get enough templates of every finger to generate an effective OPM. But it does not mean that using more templates can get a better OPM. So, we fatherly propose a strategy to select typical templates purposely from all templates of a finger to calculate the OPM. Experimental results show that by simply using OPM calculated from all existing templates, the EER of the system is reduced from 9.8% to 7.6%. And by using the OPM calculated from selected typical templates by our strategy, the EER of the system is further reduced from 7.6% to 3.1%.

In a finger vein verification system, when running for a long time, the captured templates could be different from the registered ones because of the user habits changing, the devices ageing, and some other factors. The unsteady discrepancy between templates of the same finger affects the verification results seriously. Therefore, we design a templates evolution method to get evolving templates, which can reduce the influence of templates changing when matching. Experimental results show that using evolving templates can make the EER of the system reduced from 6.3% to 3.5%.

The transformation from high-level model description to low-level implementation for network survivability may lead to semantic inconsistency problem, since the method of transformation is based on symbolic transformation of machine which neglects semantics of proposed problem. Therefore, in order to analyze the semantic differences of transformation before and after and ensure the semantic consistency, this paper built an Ontology model of high-level model description and low-level implementation for network survivability. We proposed an Ontology-based multi-factor synthesized method which is used to analyze semantic similarity of multi-hierarchy text including high-level model description text and low-level implementation text. This method included the computation of type similarity of the text based on concept lattice, computation of content similarity of the text based on ontology and computation of structure similarity of the text based on inverse order pairs. The availability of the method is verified by experiments and its accuracy is proved by comparison with classic VSM algorithm, WeiSong algorithm, CF algorithm and professional value.

Group communication is essential for multi-user applications. However, due to unpredictable node departures and non-deterministic network partitions, providing reliable and scalable group communication services is challenging when the applications are utilized by the users with heterogeneous capacities on a large scale. To address this challenge, we propose a novel replication scheme to achieve high reliability and low-cost scalability in group communication with following three features. First, it introduces a new concept of replication based on topological similarity, which empowers each node with an ability of measuring similarity between the nodes in topology. By eliminating the topological similarity between the replicas, it intelligently mitigates service interruptions caused by node failures and network partitions. Second, instead of specifying the number of replicas, it provides a technique for nodes to dynamically adapt the replication placement schemes by exploiting functionality importance of the nodes in the group- communication session. It eliminates the bottleneck problem and improves the network resource utilization. Third, the scheme is self-converging and it can stabilize within a few adaptations even facing a high churn rate. Extensive simulations show that it yields significant improvements in reduction of replication overhead and service interruption when comparing to existing approaches.

Video streaming over mesh networks operates under stringent network resource constraints, with a large number of video sessions competing for limited network resources. In this work, we aim to establish so-called resource-distortion models to characterize the inherent relationship between the allocated network resources to each video session and its end-to-end video distortion or presentation quality at the receiver end. We observed that priority-based packet scheduling has significant impact on such resource-distortion relationship. Using ANN-based learning methods, we develop an end-to-end packet delay bound violation (PDBV) probability model for video streaming over multi-hop networks with priority-based packet scheduling. We then derive a quadratic video transmission distortion model to capture the unique behavior of priority-based packet scheduling and its impact on the end-to-end video distortion. Based on these resource-distortion models, we are able to predict the end-to-end distortion for video streaming over multi-hop networks with priority-based packet scheduling. Our extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is very accurate. © 2012 IEEE.

In the traditional Intemet Protocol （IP） architecture, there is an overload of IP sermntic problems. Existing solutions focused mainly on the infrastructure for the fixed network, and there is a lack of support for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks （MANETs）. To improve scalability, a routing protocol for MANETs is presented based on a locator named Tree-structure Locator Distance Vector （TLDV）. The hard core of this routing method is the identifier/locator split by the Distributed Hash Table （DHT） method, which provides a scalable routing service. The node locator indicates its relative location in the network and should be updated whenever topology changes, kocator space ks organized as a tree-structure, and the basic routing operation of the TLDV protocol is presented. TLDV protocol is compared to some classical routing protocols for MANETs on the NS2 platform Results show that TLDV has better scalability. key words：

Tele-immersive interaction with intelligent virtual agents based on real-time 3D modeling

To enable intelligent agents interacting smoothly with human users, researchers have been deploying novel interaction modalities (e.g. non-verbal cue, vision and touch) in addition to agents' conversational skills. Models of multimodality interaction can enhance agents' real-time perception, cognition and reaction towards the user. In this paper we report a novel tele-immersive interaction system developed using real-time 3D modelling techniques. In such system user's full body is reconstructed using multi-view cameras and CUDA based visual hull reconstruction algorithm. User's mesh model is then loaded into a virtual environment for interacting with an autonomous agent. Technical details and initial results of the system are illustrated in this paper. Following that a novel interaction scenario is proposed which links the virtual agent with a remote physical robot who takes the role of mediating interactions between two geographically separated users. Finally we discuss in depth the implications of such human-agent interaction and possible future improvements and directions. © 2012 Academy Publisher.
