network monitoring and measurement is an important part of realizing the network digital twin. However, it introduces the problem of high cost when obtaining the status data of physical networks. Therefore, to efficiently achieve network observability, we first introduce potential techniques and network scenarios for implementing network measurements. Then, a High-Yield Segment Routing over IPv6 based In-band network Telemetry (HY-SRv6-INT) system is proposed in this paper. In particular, we design the HY-SRv6-INT system architecture. It consists of IPv6 switches implemented by the P4 language and a Software-Defined networking (SDN) controller containing the HY-SRv6-INT application. Next, we experimentally demonstrate a packet-level path-associated network measurement process. In addition, the performance of the HY-SRv6-INT system is also quantitatively evaluated to verify its advantages. Medication recommendation aims to suggest personalized drug combinations to patients based on their longitudinal medical histories stored in electronic health record (EHR) datasets. Patients’ Dynamic Treatment Regimes (DTRs) determine how patients’ drug combinations change along with the evolution of disease treatment. DTRs are effective for comprehending disease-treatment dynamics and for recommending a timely and personalized combination of medications for patients. However, existing medication recommender systems (MRSs) overlook the multiple treatment pathways generated by the intervention of DTRs and can only recommend a single treatment paradigm, ignoring the fact that patients may be at different treatment stages and thus require different treatment regime. Such disregard leads to a significant limitation in recommending personalized medication combinations tailored to different treatment stages, yielding greatly compromised accuracy and applicability of MRSs. Moreover, existing methods often overlook the time interval information over patients’ successive visits, which is critical to indicate patients’ treatment evolution. To address these significant gaps, we propose a Time-aware Medication Recommendation Framework via Intervention of Dynamic Treatment Regimes, called MR-DTR. To explicitly illustrate the intervention processes of DTRs on similar patients, we employ a co-guided graph to connect various patient sequences. In addition, to fully utilize the time interval information, we design a time-aware guidance mechanism dedicated to the co-guided graph to efficiently learn medication representation using the patient’s guidance information. We also introduce relative time intervals in the encoder to act as positional information. Extensive experiments on two real-world datasets demonstrate that MR-DTR surpasses state-of-the-art models in terms of recommendation performance. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

As an emerging distributed technology, Federated learning enables model training while protecting privacy without sharing local data. However, the heterogeneity of geographic locations and devices leads to response delays from stragglers. Client grouping in federated learning can tolerate stragglers from a global perspective, but differences in data distribution within groups may result in local performance bias. To address this issue, we propose a federated learning method called FedSimRep, which selects representative clients based on data distribution similarity. FedSimRep performs group training by collecting readiness signals from topological communications and maintains synchronization tables and graphs to track training progress. Additionally, it selects representative clients by leveraging the relationship between local optimization similarity and data distribution similarity to optimize the global model. Experiments and theoretical analyses on public datasets such as MNIST, CIFAR-10, and UEU-Fed demonstrate that FedSimRep achieves significant advantages in terms of accuracy and efficiency.

Crowdsensing has become a popular method of sensing data collection while facing the problem of protecting participants' location privacy. Existing location-privacy crowdsensing mechanisms focus on static tasks and participants without considering sensing tasks' time requirements and participants' mobility, which cannot achieve satisfactory collected data quality and task completion in crowdsensing with dynamic tasks and participants. Inspired by this, we proposed a location-preservation crowdsensing mechanism, FedSense, considering dynamic tasks and participants based on federated learning (FL) and reinforcement learning (RL). In FedSense, through RL's outstanding decision-making ability, participants select sensing tasks to perform by well-trained RL models without uploading location information to servers for task allocation. We propose an independent tasks selection environment that defines actions, states, and rewards of RL to enable FedSense to achieve satisfactory task completion and data quality while preserving location privacy. Besides, FedSense applies an asynchronous FL aggregation algorithm that reduces participants' network stabilization and device computing ability requirements. Analysis proves that participants' location information does not leave the local device during the model training and task selection process, effectively avoiding privacy leakage. Simulation shows that compared with existing location-preservation crowdsensing mechanisms, FedSense achieves the highest task completion and sensing accuracy for dynamic tasks and participants. © 2024 IEEE.

The interconnection facilitated by consumer electronics has led to the creation of a complex network of devices. Testing efficiency of such consumer electronic devices can be improved through hardware emulation. QEMU is a classical emulator for simulation and testing. Fuzzing is a promising solution to test the security of such devices, which has become pivotal in identifying device vulnerability. However, Qtest libfuzzer, the QEMU native fuzzer, requires manual writing of stub code, which makes conducting the fuzzing process difficult and yields poor performance. To address these challenges in virtual device security analysis, we propose DetecVFuzz, a novel automatic fuzzing framework based on QEMU-Qtest, aiming to find vulnerabilities in virtual PCI devices, including USB, audio, network, etc. We inject mutated inputs into nested data structures as parameters of memory-related APIs to ensure the stable operation of VM procedures. We implemented DetecVFuzz and evaluated it on different virtual devices, such as virtual memory USB stack and drivers. In preliminary evaluations on nine recent versions of the QEMU, we found 15 new memory errors in virtual devices. In general, DetecVFuzz achieves 89.37% line coverage and 78.65% branch coverage in virtual devices. We identified 26 new crashes/errors, three of which were unseen new bugs. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Background: Clinical studies have shown that facial expressions and body posture in depressed patients differ significantly from those of healthy individuals. Combining relevant behavioral features with artificial intelligence technology can effectively improve the efficiency of depression detection, thereby assisting doctors in early identification of patients. This study aims to develop an end-to-end multimodal recognition model combining facial expressions and body posture via deep learning techniques, enabling rapid preliminary screening of depression. Methods: We invited 146 subjects (73 in the patient group and 73 in the control group) to participate in an emotion-stimulus experiment for depression recognition. We focused on differentiating depression patients from the control group by analyzing changes in body posture and facial expressions under emotional stimuli. We first extracted images of body position and facial emotions from the video, then used a pre-trained ResNet-50 network to extract features. Additionally, we analyzed facial expression features using OpenFace for sequence analysis. Subsequently, various deep learning frameworks were combined to assess the severity of depression. Results: We found that under different stimuli, facial expression units AU04, AU07, AU10, AU12, AU17, and AU26 had significant effects in the emotion-stimulus experiment, with these features generally being negative. The decision-level fusion model based on facial expressions and body posture achieved excellent results, with the highest accuracy of 0.904 and an F1 score of 0.901. Conclusions: The experimental results suggest that depression patients exhibit predominantly negative facial expressions. This study validates the emotion-stimulus experiment, demonstrating that combining facial expressions and body posture enables accurate preliminary depression screening. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Accurately identifying real anomalies and pseudo-anomalies in complex multi-dimensional time series data has been a difficult problem in time series anomaly detection. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new framework, STAD, that joint temporal and spatial dimensions. This framework guides the model to capture the correlation information between channels It also aims to learn the deep feature representation of sequences by mining potential information in the spatialtemporal dimension. It can effectively distinguish between true and false anomalies by comparing information from spatial and temporal dimensions. STAD identifies and integrates correlated channels by using a correlation aggregation mechanism to join multiple channels and detect *** addition, the KAN mixer designed in this paper can effectively extract features from different spatial locations in the spatial-temporal dimension. Through extensive experiments on several public datasets, STAD demonstrates its superiority in terms of accuracy and robustness.

High-precision end-to-end adaptive optics aided orbital angular momentum wireless communication with XFTC-Net

In this Letter, we demonstrate high-precision end-to-end adaptive optics (AO) technique based on the X-Shape Fusion Transformer-convolutional neural network (XFTC-Net) without an additional probe path to compensate for distortions caused by atmospheric turbulence (AT) in orbital angular momentum (OAM) optical wireless communication links. The experimental results show that the XFTC-Net effectively extracts the intensity distribution features of distorted OAM beams, predicting AT phase screens and identifying OAM modes. After XFTC-Net-aided AO compensation, the bit error rate of the OAM optical communication system remains below 3.8 × 10 −3 , staying within $C_{n}^2=1 \times 10^{-15}$ –1 × 10 −13 m −2/3 . Moreover, the optical power with l = 3 increases from 5.08 dBm to 8.23 dBm at a transmission distance of 800 m. These experimental results indicate that the proposed XFTC-Net AO technique effectively compensates for OAM beam distortion in both single- and multiplexed-channel OAM links, which effectively balances the system complexity and transmission performance of OAM-based free space optical (FSO) communication systems, opening up new avenues for enhancing the performances of high-capacity optical communication.

Centralized training of deep learning-based network intrusion detection systems (DLNIDS) raises privacy concerns and incurs huge overhead. Federated learning (FL), while preserving privacy, confronts challenges including size imbalance, heterogeneous and global imbalance. To address these issues, this paper proposes a Self-Balancing Federated learning network Intrusion Detection System (SBFedNIDS) for accurate and efficient network intrusion detection while preserving privacy and tackling negative impact caused by multiple imbalances resulting from FL. SBFedNΠ)S can efficiently mitigate model bias cause by multiple imbalances and addresses imbalances at data-level via federated cost sensitive learning (FCSL) and client synthetic minority over-sampling technique (CSMOTE), without requiring additional training resources, unlike generative models. Extensive experiments on a benchmark dataset show that SBFedNIDS outperforms baselines in multiple imbalanced scenarios and even surpasses centralized training in several settings.

Towards an Ontology of Traceable Impact Management in the Food Supply Chain

The pursuit of quality improvements and accountability in the food supply chains, especially how they relate to food-related outcomes, such as hunger, has become increasingly vital, necessitating a comprehensive approach that encompasses product quality and its impact on various stakeholders and their communities. Such an approach offers numerous benefits in increasing product quality and eliminating superfluous measurements while appraising and alleviating the broader societal and environmental repercussions. A traceable impact management model (TIMM) provides an impact structure and a reporting mechanism that identifies each stakeholder’s role in the total impact of food production and consumption stages. The model aims to increase traceability’s utility in understanding the impact of changes on communities affected by food production and consumption, aligning with current and future government requirements, and addressing the needs of communities and consumers. This holistic approach is further supported by an ontological model that forms the logical foundation and a unified terminology. By proposing a holistic and integrated solution across multiple stakeholders, the model emphasizes quality and the extensive impact of championing accountability, sustainability, and responsible practices with global traceability. With these combined efforts, the food supply chain moves toward a global tracking and tracing process that not only ensures product quality but also addresses its impact on a broader scale, fostering accountability, sustainability, and responsible food production and consumption. © 2025, CC BY.
