A Prediction-Based Multi-Objective VM Consolidation Approach for Cloud data Centers

Virtual machine(VM)consolidation aims to run VMs on the least number of physical machines(PMs).The optimal consolidation significantly reduces energy consumption(EC),quality of service(QoS)in applications,and resource *** paper proposes a prediction-basedmulti-objective VMconsolidation approach to search for the best mapping between VMs and PMs with good timeliness and practical *** use a hybrid model based on Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA)and Support Vector Regression(SVR)(HPAS)as a prediction model and consolidate VMs to PMs based on prediction results by HPAS,aiming at minimizing the total EC,performance degradation(PD),migration cost(MC)and resource wastage(RW)*** results usingMicrosoft Azure trace show the proposed approach has better prediction accuracy and overcomes the multi-objective consolidation approach without prediction(i.e.,Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm 2,Nsga2)and the renowned Overload Host Detection(OHD)approaches without prediction,such as Linear Regression(LR),Median Absolute Deviation(MAD)and Inter-Quartile Range(IQR).

Guided and Fused: Efficient Frozen CLIP-ViT with Feature Guidance and Multi-Stage Feature Fusion for Generalizable Deepfake Detection

The rise of generative models has sparked concerns about image authenticity online, highlighting the urgent need for an effective and general detector. Recent methods leveraging the frozen pre-trained CLIP-ViT model have made great progress in deepfake detection. However, these models often rely on visual-general features directly extracted by the frozen network, which contain excessive information irrelevant to the task, resulting in limited detection performance. To address this limitation, in this paper, we propose an efficient Guided and Fused Frozen CLIP-ViT (GFF), which integrates two simple yet effective modules. The Deepfake-Specific Feature Guidance Module (DFGM) guides the frozen pre-trained model in extracting features specifically for deepfake detection, reducing irrelevant information while preserving its generalization capabilities. The Multi-Stage Fusion Module (FuseFormer) captures low-level and high-level information by fusing features extracted from each stage of the ViT. This dual-module approach significantly improves deepfake detection by fully leveraging CLIP-ViT’s inherent advantages. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and generalization ability of GFF, which achieves state-of-the-art performance with optimal results in only 5 training epochs. Even when trained on only 4 classes of ProGAN, GFF achieves nearly 99% accuracy on unseen GANs and maintains an impressive 97% accuracy on unseen diffusion models. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Multi depot school bus routing problem (MDSBRP) refers to the school bus routing problem (SBRP) with multiple depots, which effectively reduces the service cost by adjusting the order of school buses from depot to station. In this paper, a heuristic algorithm based on simulated annealing is proposed to solve the multi depot school bus routing problem. The problem considers the constraints of school time window and school bus capacity. Through the operation adjustment of depots and stations, the number and driving distance of school buses can be effectively reduced. The existing benchmark case set and modified test cases are used to test the algorithm. The experimental results show that the use of multi depot mode can effectively reduce the number of school buses and save operating costs, which shows the effectiveness of the algorithm. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. As the largest source of technical information around the world, patents are regarded as an essential crystallization and carrier of knowledge and technological innovation. Patent transformation is conducive not only to enhancing economic efficiency, but also to improving productivity and the rational utilization of resources. There is an imbalance between high patent ownership and low transformation rates. We try to predict the occurrence of transformation events from the patent assignment. However, there are some challenges in predicting patent transformation: (1) how to capture transformation features of patents, especially combined with the transfer time factor. (2) how to predict patent transfer time effectively. To address these challenges, a Patent Transfer Time Forecasting Model (PTTFM) is proposed. The model includes: (1) extraction of time-varying features of patents. (2) the patent transfer time is forecast using a Neural Temporal Point Process. By testing the model on patents under different classifications, the experimental results are obtained to show that the proposed model is applicable to predict the timing of patent assignment within a certain time frame, especially one month. Our work may facilitate patent transformation while interpretability is ensured for transformation events. © 2023 IEEE.

A Lightweight Aerial image Object Detector Based on Mask Information Enhancement

Object detection in UAV imagery is highly valuable in both military and civilian domains. However, deploying conventional detectors is challenging due to limited computing resources on UAV platforms. Additionally, UAV images often contain densely arranged objects, demanding higher accuracy from detectors. In response to these challenges, we proposed the lightweight aerial object detection method based on mask feature enhancement, named BFDet. First, to enhance the feature extraction capability of the model under limited parameters, we designed the Balanced Channel Attention Layer (BCA Layer). The BCA Layer improves the extraction of high-quality channel information during feature processing. Second, to enhance model performance while minimizing parameters, we designed a feature extraction network utilizing the Efficient Feature Extraction Module (EFEM) and the Downsampling Module (DM) as its backbone. This design reduces the number of parameters while improving the extraction of discriminative features. Third, to enrich the semantic information of features, we proposed a Progressive Space Pyramid Pooling (PSPP) module, obtaining features with rich semantic information to enhance model performance. Finally, to tackle the challenge of detecting densely packed objects, we proposed a Mask Information Enhancement Module (MIEM) to obtain the fine-grained features, enhancing the model's discriminative ability in dense scenes. The proposed BFDet underwent extensive experimentation on both the Vis-Drone and UAVDT datasets. The mAP0.5 and FPS values of BFDet reach 51.4% and 33 respectively on the VisDrone dataset, and the parameter number is only 5.6M. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Distracted driving causes many accidents every year, most of which can be avoided with automatic recognition. As a result, vision-based driver action recognition is receiving increasing research attention. In a limited in-vehicle space, actions can be very ambiguous from an individual view. Therefore exploring efficient multi-view action recognition architecture is meaningful. This study aims to detect the distraction of drivers while identifying the cause. A novel driver action recognition architecture named multi-view vision transformer (MVVT) is proposed, which combines classical convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with vision transformer. Self-attention mechanism is utilized to dynamically aggregate temporal information and fuse features of different views jointly. Experiments demonstrate that MVVT can effectively recognize drivers’ behaviors with multi-view input. A promising result of 84.9% accuracy is achieved on a large public driver action dataset. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Intellectual property transactions have shown a strong growth momentum in recent years, but the patent transaction market has been plagued by the matching degree of consumers and sellers, resulting in frequent problems such as low patent transformation efficiency and poor transaction quality. This paper proposes a method of recommending patents to consumers by experts to improve the environment of patent transactions. Through the analysis of the past transaction information of the patent, the effective path information of the target is extracted. The graph neural network is used to describe the characteristics and semantics among experts, patents and consumers, and then capture the potential weight among them through the common attention mechanism, and then dynamically integrate them to predict the occurrence of recommendation behavior. The paper makes reasonable use of social information and expert information in the transaction, which significantly improves the rationality and accuracy of expert recommendation. © 2023 IEEE.

Hyperspectral image Classification Method Based on Spiking Neural Network

Convolutional neural network (CNN) performs well in Hyperspectral image (HSI) classification tasks, but its high energy consumption and complex network structure make it difficult to directly apply it to edge computing devices. At present, spiking neural networks (SNN) have developed rapidly in HSI classification tasks due to their low energy consumption and event driven characteristics. However, it usually requires a longer time step to achieve optimal accuracy. In response to the above problems, this paper builds a spiking neural network (SNN-SWMR) based on the leaky integrate-and-fire (LIF) neuron model for HSI classification tasks. The network uses the spiking width mixed residual (SWMR) module as the basic unit to perform feature extraction operations. The spiking width mixed residual module is composed of spiking mixed convolution (SMC), which can effectively extract spatial-spectral features. Secondly, this paper designs a simple and efficient arcsine approximate derivative (AAD), which solves the non-differentiable problem of spike firing by fitting the Dirac function. Through AAD, we can directly train supervised spike neural networks. Finally, this paper conducts comparative experiments with multiple advanced HSI classification algorithms based on spiking neural networks on six public hyperspectral data sets. Experimental results show that the AAD function has strong robustness and a good fitting effect. Meanwhile, compared with other algorithms, SNN-SWMR requires a time step reduction of about 84%, training time, and testing time reduction of about 63% and 70% at the same accuracy. This study solves the key problem of SNN based HSI classification algorithms, which has important practical significance for promoting the practical application of HSI classification algorithms in edge devices such as spaceborne and airborne devices. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper focuses on cross-modality multi-hop visual questions, which require multi-hop reasoning over different sources of knowledge from multiple modalities, such as image and text. Due to the lack of cross-modality reasoning ability, it is difficult for the traditional model to make correct predictions. To solve this problem, we propose a new knowledge-enhanced inferential framework. We first build a reasoning graph to capture the topological relations between the objects in the given image and the logical relations of entities corresponding to these objects. To align the visual objects and textual entities, we design a cross-modality retriever with the help of an external multimodal knowledge graph. Based on the logical and topological relations on the graph, we can derive the answer by decomposing a complex multi-hop question into a series of attention-based reasoning steps. The result of the previous step acts as the context of the next step. By linking the results of all steps, we can form an evidence chain to the answer. Extensive experiments conducted on the popular KVQA dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
