Multi-scale fusion residual encoder-decoder approach for low illumination image enhancement

The sensing light source of the line scan camera cannot be fully exposed in a low light environment due to the extremely small number of photons and high noise,which leads to a reduction in image quality.A multi-scale fusion residual encoder-decoder(FRED)was proposed to solve the *** directly learning the end-to-end mapping between light and dark images,FRED can enhance the image’s brightness with the details and colors of the original image fully restored.A residual block(RB)was added to the network structure to increase feature diversity and speed up network ***,the addition of a dense context feature aggregation module(DCFAM)made up for the deficiency of spatial information in the deep network by aggregating the context’s global multi-scale *** experimental results show that the FRED is superior to most other algorithms in visual effect and quantitative evaluation of peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)and structural similarity index measure(SSIM).For the factor that FRED can restore the brightness of images while representing the edge and color of the image effectively,a satisfactory visual quality is obtained under the enhancement of low-light.

DreamLayer: Simultaneous Multi-Layer Generation via Diffusion Model

Text-driven image generation using diffusion models has recently gained significant attention. To enable more flexible image manipulation and editing, recent research has expanded from single image generation to transparent layer generation and multi-layer compositions. However, existing approaches often fail to provide a thorough exploration of multi-layer structures, leading to inconsistent inter-layer interactions, such as occlusion relationships, spatial layout, and shadowing. In this paper, we introduce DreamLayer, a novel framework that enables coherent text-driven generation of multiple image layers, by explicitly modeling the relationship between transparent foreground and background layers. DreamLayer incorporates three key components, i.e., Context-Aware Cross-Attention (CACA) for global-local information exchange, Layer-Shared Self-Attention (LSSA) for establishing robust inter-layer connections, and Information Retained Harmonization (IRH) for refining fusion details at the latent level. By leveraging a coherent full-image context, DreamLayer builds inter-layer connections through attention mechanisms and applies a harmonization step to achieve seamless layer fusion. To facilitate research in multi-layer generation, we construct a high-quality, diverse multi-layer dataset including 400k samples. Extensive experiments and user studies demonstrate that DreamLayer generates more coherent and well-aligned layers, with broad applicability, including latent-space image editing and image-to-layer decomposition. In this paper,we propose a simple organohydrogel based capacitive humidity sensor for noncontact artificial sensation *** sensor is simple in design and consists of a transparent polyacrylamide organohydrogel thin film attached on a flexible inter-digit electrode *** process of water absorption and desorption is reversible,thus the dielectric of the organohydrogel film as well as the overall capacitance is dependent on environmental *** water absorption capacity and structural reliability of the device have been largely improved by adding glycerol in the organohydrogel *** optimizing both the glycerol concentration and organohydrogel film thickness,the sensor can respond to cyclic humidity changes in a period of 300 *** addition,this sensor achieves a high relative capacitance increase(by 20 folds)in a wide relative humidity range(12%-95%).The sensor also exhibits high stability under different bending curvatures(up to 6.81 mm),wide temperature changes(20℃-40℃)and external pressures(0-8 N).To demonstrate the applications in wearable electronics,we found that the sensor was successful in detecting respiration intensity and rate as well as the difference in moisture content in various objects,i.e.,human skin and leaf *** sensor is highly sensitive and can be useful in the detection of the widerange of humidity changes.

In a multi-cloud storage system, provenance data records all operations and ownership during its lifecycle, which is critical for data security and audibility. However, recording provenance data also poses some challenging security and storage issues. In this paper, we present a secure and efficient multi-cloud storage data source scheme, BMDP. We use blockchain technology to ensure the secure storage of provenance data and design a smart contract to utilize the provenance data to ensure the proper operation of the multi-cloud storage system. Finally, we analyze the scheme's safety and do simulation experiments to show that the scheme has practicality. © 2023 IEEE.

Efficient and stable Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have been successfully produced using a dual-layer modified (DLM) perovskite thin film. This method simultaneously modifies both the bottom (SnO2/perovskite) and top (perovskite/SpiroOMeTAD) interfaces of the perovskite. The crystallinity of the perovskite film is enhanced after the DLM treatment. Additionally, thin barrier layers are formed on both its bottom and top surfaces, which reduce surface defect density and non-radiative recombination of carriers. The bottom and top modifier layers prevent direct contact between the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer, forming a high-energy barrier that promotes carrier transmission in PSCs. Consequently, the methylammonium acetate (MAAc)-PSC achieves an efficiency of 21.96%. © 2024 SPIE. All rights reserved.

The traditional compressive sensing theory does not take full advantage of the differences in image block information features for sampling, and the measurement matrix does not adequately measure the image based on the image information features. To solve these problems, we design a color image encryption scheme based on block compressive perception and chaotic systems. First, the color image is divided into three channels of RGB and into 8*8 blocks respectively. Then, a zigzag transform is applied to each block so that each pixel value is evenly distributed. Each block is sparsified by the discrete cosine transform, and the measurement matrix generated by the Chen chaotic system is sampled to compress the image blocks to CR times the original block size according to different compression ratios (CR). The resulting chunked compressed samples are further distributed across the pixel values of the image using a cross-channel confusion dislocation method. Finally, the size of the pixel values is changed by a dissimilarity operation. The experimental results show that the scheme can balance the security of image information transmission and the integrity of reception, and has good resistance to various attacks. © 2023 SPIE.

Cloud storage services have been used by most businesses and individual users. However, data loss, service interruptions and cyber attacks often lead to cloud storage services not being provided properly, and these incidents have caused financial losses to users. Second, traditional and single-cloud model disaster recovery services are no longer suitable for the current complex cloud storage systems. Therefore, a scheme to provide disaster recovery for cloud storage services in a multi-cloud storage environment is needed in real production. In this paper, we propose a disaster recovery scheme based on blockchain technology. The proposed scheme outlined in this study aims to address the issue of data availability within the cloud storage landscape. The proposed scheme achieves this goal by dividing data into hot and cold categories, verifying the integrity of copy data via blockchain technology, and utilizing blockchain networks to manage multi-cloud storage systems. Experimental findings demonstrate that the proposed scheme yields superior results in terms of computation and time overheads. © 2023 IEEE.

Top-N recommendation is a common tool to discover interesting items, which ranks the items based on user preference using their interaction history. Implicit feedback is often used by recommender systems due to the hardness of preference collection. Recent solutions simply treat all interacted items of a user as equally important positives and annotate all no-interaction items of a user as negatives. We argue that this annotation scheme of implicit feedback is over-simplified due to the sparsity and missing fine-grained labels of the feedback data. To overcome this issue, we revisit the so-called positive and negative samples for Variational Autoencoders (VAEs). Based on our analysis and observation, we propose a self-adjusting credibility weight mechanism to re-weigh the positive samples and exploit the higher-order relation based on item-item matrix to sample the critical negative samples. Besides, we abandon complex nonlinear structure and develop a simple yet effective VAEs framework with linear structure, which combines the reconstruction loss function for the positive samples and critical negative samples. Extensive experiments conducted on 4 public real-world datasets demonstrate that our VAE++ outperforms other VAEs-based models by a large margin. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper introduces the Temporal Transform Network based on Scale Sequences (TTS) for cloth-changing person re-identification in video datasets. The TTS network is designed to capture multi-scale temporal cues within video sequences. It accomplishes this by initially modeling short-term temporal cues between adjacent frames, followed by capturing long-term relationships between non-consecutive frames. In more detail, short-term temporal cues are modeled through parallel inflated convolutions with different time dilation rates, enabling the representation of pedestrian movement and appearance dynamics. Long-term relationships are effectively captured using a temporal self-attention model, mitigating challenges such as occlusion and noise within the video sequence. The TTS network outperforms existing methods across cloth-changing video ReID datasets such as CCVID. For instance, under general settings, our approach exhibits a 1.1% improvement in top-1 accuracy and a corresponding 1.1% increase in mAP compared to the baseline. In cloth-changing settings, we observe a 0.2% enhancement in top-1 accuracy and a notable 1.3% increase in mAP relative to the baseline. © 2023 IEEE.

Real-time video analytics is a killer application for edge computing, however, it has not been fully understood how much edge resource is required to support compute-intensive video analytics tasks at the edge. In this paper, we conduct an in-depth measurement study to unveil the resource requirement of deep learning (DL) inference for edge video analytics (EVA). We measure the DL inference time under various resource combinations, with different physical resources (e.g., processor types, core numbers, memory), video resolutions, and DL inference models. It is observed that the relationship between DL inference time and resource configuration is complicated, which cannot be captured by a simple model. Considering the coupling effects, we model the resource requirements of the DL inference by utilizing tensor factorization (TF) method. Our TF-based DL inference model can match well with the observations from field measurements. Different from previous models, our model is completely explainable and all the components have their physical meanings. Especially, it is possible to match the top three components extracted from the TF-based model with the practical DL functional layers, namely, convolutional layer, pooling layer, and fully-connected layer. The measurement results show that the top three components contribute approximately 50%, 25%, and 10% time for DL inference execution, which provides clear instruction on fine-grained DL task scheduling for edge video analytics applications. © 2022, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
