In the past, most of the research on car-following models in China focused on physical statistics, with relatively little collection and analysis of car-following data. Therefore, it is essential to establish a car-following model suitable for analyzing the car-following characteristics of Chinese drivers based on real driving data. This paper utilizes a vehicle-mounted monocular camera to capture traffic flow images on the highway and uses the YOLOv5 algorithm to detect vehicles. Through the homography transformation between the image plane in the front view and the spatial plane in the top view, the pixel coordinates are converted to 3D spatial coordinates. Then, the ranging model is established, and its effectiveness is verified using the length of the lane dividing lines. The factor analysis is used to determine the main influencing factors of car-following behavior. The appropriate linear car-following models are selected and its parameters are calibrated using multiple linear regression methods. This paper realizes the collection and subsequent processing of car-following behavior data under natural driving conditions, and transforms generalized car-following models into specific research theories for application in practical situations. This method of collecting car-following driving data has strong practicality and can provide effective data support for studying car-following models that accurately reflect the operation conditions of road traffic. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. An expansion of Internet of Things (IoTs) has led to significant challenges in wireless data harvesting, dissemination, and energy management due to the massive volumes of data generated by IoT devices. These challenges are exacerbated by data redundancy arising from spatial and temporal correlations. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel data-driven collaborative beamforming (CB)-based communication framework for IoT networks. Specifically, the framework integrates CB with an overlap-based multi-hop routing protocol (OMRP) to enhance data transmission efficiency while mitigating energy consumption and addressing hot spot issues in remotely deployed IoT networks. Based on the data aggregation to a specific node by OMRP, we formulate a node selection problem for the CB stage, with the objective of optimizing uplink transmission energy consumption. Given the complexity of the problem, we introduce a softmax-based proximal policy optimization with long-short-term memory (SoftPPO-LSTM) algorithm to intelligently select CB nodes for improving transmission efficiency. Simulation results show that the proposed OMRP improves network lifetime by 17% compared to benchmark routing protocols, while the SoftPPO-LSTM method for CB node selection achieves an 8.3% increase in throughput over benchmark algorithms. The long propagation delays in underwater acoustic channels can be leveraged to improve communication efficiency using spatial-temporal reuse techniques. This letter focuses on a system of partially connected AUVs that continuously broadcast packets. A central controller gathers the location information of the AUVs and designs a broadcast sequence exploiting propagation delays to minimize the broadcast cycle. Since finding optimal solutions is time-consuming, we propose a scheduling algorithm that uses heuristics based on partial connections to reduce computational complexity. Additionally, we allow collision tolerance to shorten the broadcast cycle further and investigate the trade-off of the shorter broadcast cycle and collision probability, resulting in a scheduling algorithm exhibiting receiving-alignment properties. Simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in reducing broadcast cycles while maintaining low computational complexity. © 2012 IEEE.

Skeleton-based action recognition is crucial for machine intelligence. Current methods generally learn from 3D articulated motion sequences in the straightforward Euclidean space. Yet, the vanilla Euclidean space may not be the optimal choice for modeling the intricate correlations among human body joints. This challenge arises from the non-Euclidean nature of human anatomy, where joint correlations often vary non-linearly during movement. To address this, we propose a dual space representation learning method. Specifically, we represent the motion sequences in Hyperbolic space, leveraging its intrinsic properties to capture the non-Euclidean latent anatomy of human motions. We then incorporate the motion features from both Hyperbolic and Euclidean spaces, allowing us to precisely model the non-linear joint correlations while effectively sketching human poses. The proposed method empirically achieves state-of-the-art performance on the NTU RGB+D 60, NTURGB+D 120, and NW-UCLA datasets. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

As a data-driven science, machine learning requires vast amounts of training data and computational resources. However, for highly privacy-sensitive data, it is crucial to protect the privacy of the data during both the training and utilization of machine learning models. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving machine learning approach using autoencoders and differential privacy mechanisms to safeguard data privacy while minimizing the impact on data availability. Specifically, we augment logistic regression and ResNet18 models with different architectures of autoencoders to perform data encryption? without compromising the machine learning tasks. Additionally, we employ differential privacy mechanisms to introduce gradient perturbations in the encoding part of the autoencoder, enhancing the algorithm’s security and further protecting data privacy. We also design the cosine similarity between the encoded and original data as a metric for evaluating data privacy, considering model performance, privacy budget, and data privacy collectively to balance data availability and privacy. Extensive experiments conducted on MNIST, CIFAR-10, PathMNIST, and BloodMNIST datasets demonstrate that for simple logistic regression models handling easily classifiable datasets, employing simple autoencoder structures can enhance classification accuracy, with significant performance impact after adding differential privacy. For ResNet18, utilizing convolutional autoencoders for data encryption generally has minimal impact on model classification performance and can even improve accuracy in most cases. Adding differential privacy has minor effects on model classification performance. Selecting appropriate model structures and privacy budgets for different usage scenarios can ensure both data availability and privacy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Thermoelectric modules fabricated by traditional welding fall short of achieving optimal conversion efficiencies, primarily due to performance degradation of materials at high temperatures, severe elemental diffusion, and residual thermal stress at the interface. Transient liquid phase bonding enables the realization of joints with high-melting-point compounds at low bonding temperatures, providing a promising solution for achieving "low-temperature bonding and high-temperature service." Owing to the low eutectic point of the solder and high melting points of compounds, we optimize the design of a germanium-telluride-based module at 533 K, which is successfully applied at the hot-side temperature of 773 K. Attributed to high-performance materials and reliable joints, the module realizes a high conversion efficiency of ∼15.1% and remains stable throughout 150 h of service. By adopting the same approach, the low- (Bi2Te3) and high-temperature (half-Heusler) modules are assembled. We provide a promising and general route for the assembly of full-temperature-range thermoelectric devices.

Archive-based multiple feature construction method using adaptive genetic programming

The quality of features is an important factor that affects the classification performance of machine learning algorithms. Feature construction based on Genetic Programming (GP) can automatically create more discriminative features, sometimes greatly improving classification performance. However, constructing a single feature or a small number of features may make the linkage information between labels and features insufficient, resulting in poor classification performance, so we introduce a multi-feature construction method. In addition, premature convergence of the GP may also affect classification performance. This paper proposes an archive-based multiple feature construction method which uses elite archive strategy to preserve and select effective constructed features, and employs an adaptive strategy for GP to adjust the crossover and mutation probabilities based on fitness values. Experiments on ten datasets show that our proposed archive-based multiple feature construction method without using adaptive GP can significantly improve the classification performance compared with traditional single feature construction method, and the classification performance can be maintained or further improved by adding the adaptive strategy.
