Enhancing diabetes complications prediction through knowledge graphs and convolutional networks

Early prediction of diabetes complications is crucial for timely intervention and effective disease management. However, current deep learning approaches often lack sufficient representation of diabetes knowledge and rely on large-scale annotated data. To address this, we propose a knowledge Graphs-enhanced Diabetes Complications Prediction (KGDCP) model, which integrates a physical examination knowledge graph and an improved Diabetes knowledge Graph (DiaKG) using self-attention-based convolutional neural networks. We construct the physical examination knowledge graph based on normal reference ranges of examination indicators and enhance DiaKG through knowledge deduplication and coreference resolution, improving its accuracy and comprehensiveness. Furthermore, we employ the embeddings of these two knowledge graphs to represent examination data and diagnostic information. A token-to-token (token2token) self-attention is utilized to explore dependencies among examination indicators, and convolutional neural networks extract local features to generate representation vectors. Additionally, source-to-token (source2token) self-attention assesses dependencies between diagnostic entities and the entire entity set, with entity-to-Physical Examination (entity2PE) attention gauging entity relevance to examination data representation vectors. Our model combines these features to enhance diabetes complications prediction, outperforming traditional models in predicting cerebral infarction and peripheral neuropathy. © 2025

Generative models have attracted considerable attention for speech separation tasks, and among these, diffusion-based methods are being explored. Despite the notable success of diffusion techniques in generation tasks, their adaptation to speech separation has encountered challenges, notably slow convergence and suboptimal separation outcomes. To address these issues and enhance the efficacy of diffusion-based speech separation, we introduce EDSep, a novel single-channel method grounded in score matching via stochastic differential equation (SDE). This method enhances generative modeling for speech source separation by optimizing training and sampling efficiency. Specifically, a novel denoiser function is proposed to approximate data distributions, which obtains ideal denoiser outputs. Additionally, a stochastic sampler is carefully designed to resolve the reverse SDE during the sampling process, gradually separating speech from mixtures. Extensive experiments on databases such as WSJ0-2mix, LRS2-2mix, and VoxCeleb2-2mix demonstrate our proposed method's superior performance over existing diffusion and discriminative models, validating its efficacy. © 2025 IEEE.

Accurately segmenting polyp regions in colonoscopy images is crucial for the diagnosis and intervention of colorectal cancer. However, the task of polyp segmentation remains challenging due to the diverse size and shape variations among polyps, their extreme similarity to the background, and frequent rotation of the lens, which further increases the diversity in polyp presentation. To address these challenges effectively, we propose a comprehensive polyp segmentation network (CPSNet). Specifically, we introduce a Comprehensive Spatial Feature Extraction Module (CFEM) that progressively and densely integrates features while forming receptive windows with various shapes. This enables enhanced perception of polyps at manifold sizes and shapes. Additionally, we propose a Fine-grained Region Strengthen Module (FGSM) to supplement uncertain areas around polyps by mitigating background noise interference. In terms of training strategy, we further introduce a Rotation-augmented Constrained Loss (RC Loss), which reinforces consistency constraints on polyp images under multiple rotation angles. Qualitative and quantitative experiments conducted on five public datasets demonstrate both the plug-and-play capability of CFEM as well as the effectiveness and excellence achieved by CPSNet. © 2025 IEEE.

A seamless and comprehensive system for the clean utilization of energy remains elusive, with energy dispatch failing to harmonize the overall picture and the integration of clean energy sources. Privacy-preserving and Verifiable Federated Learning with weighted average aggregation in edge computing

In Federated Learning (FL), clients collaborate with edge and cloud servers to train a global model without sharing raw data. However, cloud servers cannot be fully trusted due to the risk of malicious servers forging aggregation results to compromise model updates. Consequently, secure aggregation of local gradients and verification of the integrity of global parameters are crucial. While existing methods ensure the verifiability of aggregation results, few address the trade-off between verification and efficiency in edge computing. To bridge this gap, we propose a privacy-preserving and verifiable weighted averaging aggregation scheme for FL within a cloud–edge collaborative architecture. Our scheme employs a masking technique to compute the weighted gradients and data size of the clients, followed by Lagrange interpolation at the edge servers, and gradient aggregation by dual cloud servers. In this design, the two cloud servers cannot reconstruct a client's local gradients, as each only receives partial interpolation points of the Lagrange polynomial, ensuring client privacy. Additionally, the edge servers can verify the correctness of the aggregation results using cross-verification, providing an efficient method with low computational overhead, and performance evaluations show that the masking overhead is independent of the number of clients. Security analysis shows the scheme guarantees secure, efficient privacy protection and verification. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

The conventional Cohen's distribution can't meet the requirement of additive noises jamming signals high-performance denoising under the condition of low signal-to-noise ratio, it is necessary to integrate the metaplectic transform for non-stationary signal fractional domain time-frequency analysis. In this paper, we embark on blending time-frequency operators and coordinate operator fractionizations to formulate the definition of the joint fractionizations metaplectic Wigner distribution (JFMWD), based on which we integrate the generalized metaplectic convolution to address the unified representation issue of the convolution type of metaplectic Cohen's distribution (CMCD), whose special cases and essential properties are also derived. We blend Wiener filter principle and fractional domain filter mechanism of the metaplectic transform to design the least-squares adaptive filter method in the JFMWD domain, giving birth to the least-squares adaptive filter-based CMCD whose kernel function can be adjusted with the input signal automatically to achieve the minimum mean-square error (MSE) denoising in Wigner distribution domain. We discuss the optimal symplectic matrices selection strategy of the proposed adaptive CMCD through the minimum MSE minimization modeling and solving. Some examples are also carried out to demonstrate that the proposed filtering method outperforms some state-of-the-arts including the classical Gaussian filter, the Cohen's distribution filtering methods with fixed kernel functions, the classical Wiener filter, the adaptive generalized linear canonical convolution-based filtering method, the adaptive Cohen's distribution filtering method, the adaptive JFMWD-based Cohen's distribution filtering method, and the adaptive generalized metaplectic convolution-based Cohen's distribution filtering method in noise suppression. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Learning with Open-world Noisy data via Class-independent Margin in Dual Representation Space

Learning with Noisy Labels (LNL) aims to improve the model generalization when facing data with noisy labels, and existing methods generally assume that noisy labels come from known classes, called closed-set noise. However, in real-world scenarios, noisy labels from similar unknown classes, i.e., open-set noise, may occur during the training and inference stage. Such open-world noisy labels may significantly impact the performance of LNL methods. In this study, we propose a novel dual-space joint learning method to robustly handle the open-world noise. To mitigate model overfitting on closed-set and open-set noises, a dual representation space is constructed by two networks. One is a projection network that learns shared representations in the prototype space, while the other is a One-Vs-All (OVA) network that makes predictions using unique semantic representations in the class-independent space. Then, bi-level contrastive learning and consistency regularization are introduced in two spaces to enhance the detection capability for data with unknown classes. To benefit from the memorization effects across different types of samples, class-independent margin criteria are designed for sample identification, which selects clean samples, weights closed-set noise, and filters open-set noise effectively. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and achieves an average accuracy improvement of 4.55% and an AUROC improvement of 6.17% on CIFAR80N. A Lightweight Aerial Image Object Detector Based on Mask Information Enhancement

Object detection in UAV imagery is highly valuable in both military and civilian domains. However, deploying conventional detectors is challenging due to limited computing resources on UAV platforms. Additionally, UAV images often contain densely arranged objects, demanding higher accuracy from detectors. In response to these challenges, we proposed the lightweight aerial object detection method based on mask feature enhancement, named BFDet. First, to enhance the feature extraction capability of the model under limited parameters, we designed the Balanced Channel Attention Layer (BCA Layer). The BCA Layer improves the extraction of high-quality channel information during feature processing. Second, to enhance model performance while minimizing parameters, we designed a feature extraction network utilizing the Efficient Feature Extraction Module (EFEM) and the Downsampling Module (DM) as its backbone. This design reduces the number of parameters while improving the extraction of discriminative features. Third, to enrich the semantic information of features, we proposed a Progressive Space Pyramid Pooling (PSPP) module, obtaining features with rich semantic information to enhance model performance. Finally, to tackle the challenge of detecting densely packed objects, we proposed a Mask Information Enhancement Module (MIEM) to obtain the fine-grained features, enhancing the model's discriminative ability in dense scenes. The proposed BFDet underwent extensive experimentation on both the Vis-Drone and UAVDT datasets. The mAP0.5 and FPS values of BFDet reach 51.4% and 33 respectively on the VisDrone dataset, and the parameter number is only 5.6M. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In the domain of facial recognition security, multimodal Face Anti-Spoofing (FAS) is essential for countering presentation attacks. However, existing technologies encounter challenges due to modality biases and imbalances, as well as domain shifts. Our research introduces a Mixture of Experts (MoE) model to address these issues effectively. We identified three limitations in traditional MoE approaches to multimodal FAS: (1) Coarse-grained experts’ inability to capture nuanced spoofing indicators; (2) Gated networks’ susceptibility to input noise affecting decision-making; (3) MoE’s sensitivity to prompt tokens leading to overfitting with conventional learning methods. To mitigate these, we propose the Bypass Isolated Gating MoE (BIG-MoE) framework, featuring: (1) Fine-grained experts for enhanced detection of subtle spoofing cues; (2) An isolation gating mechanism to counteract input noise; (3) A novel differential convolutional prompt bypass enriching the gating network with critical local features, thereby improving perceptual capabilities. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets demonstrate significant generalization performance improvement in multimodal FAS task. The code is released at https://***/murInJ/BIG-MoE.

Enabling Generalized Zero-Shot Vulnerability Classification

Regarding computer security, the growth of code vulnerability types presents a persistent challenge. These vulnerabilities, which may cause severe consequences, necessitate precise classification for effective mitigation. However, the rapid emergence of new vulnerability types complicates the classification process. Traditional methodologies, which often involve human expertise and the manual labeling or generation of example instances, are not only resource-intensive but also struggle to adapt to the dynamic nature of these vulnerabilities. This paper introduces VulnSense, an innovative method that harnesses the capabilities of Generalized Zero-Shot Learning (GZSL) to address the vulnerability classification problem. VulnSense learns about unseen vulnerability classes from the descriptions of these unseen classes, while not requiring to see any instances of these unseen classes. Specifically, VulnSense learns from three main resources: (1) seen classes with labeled code instances;(2) descriptions of these seen classes;and (3) descriptions of "unseen"classes which have no labeled instances. Our experiments underscore VulnSense's superiority over existing GZSL methods in classifying instances of unseen classes. Concurrently, it maintains a performance parity with traditional labeled-example based learning methods in classifying instances of seen vulnerabilities. VulnSense demonstrates the potential of using GZSL for vulnerability classification, while also highlighting challenges that inspire future work. © 2004-2012 IEEE.
