This study pioneers a forecasting model for solar power generation tailored specifically for the provinces of China, employing a multi-modal data fusion strategy. Diverging from conventional models that rely solely on single-source data, this approach integrates a diverse array of data types including time-series power generation, stock market prices, and textual information from policy documents. This integration enhances the predictive capabilities of our model by leveraging the unique information provided by each data type. We propose a novel approach called Multi-modal Information Fusion (Multiformer), which utilizes an encoder-decoder architecture augmented with a self-attention layer to effectively capture and synthesize the interdependencies among the varied data inputs. This architectural innovation significantly reduces error propagation and improves model accuracy. Empirical validation of our model was conducted through monthly forecasts of solar power generation across various provinces, revealing that Multiformer outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods, including ITransformer and Informer, with a substantial 35% improvement in performance for a six-month forecast period. The success of Multiformer underscores its potential to generate accurate predictions that are crucial for energy policy-making and strategic planning.

Next-basket recommendation (NBR) infers a set of items that a user will interact with in the next basket. Existing methods often struggle with the data sparsity problem, particularly when the number of baskets is significantly large due to diverse user behaviors. Cross-domain recommendation (CDR) can effectively alleviate this problem in NBR by transferring knowledge across different domains. Nevertheless, these methods often rely on the similarities of overlapping users, which leads to the negative transfer problem and ignores the overlapping items that are general in real-world scenarios like chain stores. In this paper, we provide a clear symbolic definition of cross-store recommendation (CSR) and distinguish it from CDR. We also propose a novel CSNBR model for cross-store next-basket recommendation task. To fully model the transferable collaborative information between two stores, we learn the embeddings of users, baskets, and items by two intra-store bipartite graphs, and use an inter-store unified bipartite graph to transfer the previously learned knowledge. Furthermore, to alleviate the negative transfer problem, we propose to reconstruct the inter-store unified bipartite graph by utilizing user embeddings obtained from the transfer layer and the disentanglement layer. We also employ two sequence encoders to model the historical sequential information at basket-level and item-level. Extensive experiments conducted on real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the CSNBR model.

Metaverse is an immersive, seamless, interactive, comprehensive virtual world, as well as a replication, extension, and transcendence of the real world. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled mobile edge computing (MEC) is becoming a key technology for ubiquitous Metaverse services. To enhance network resource utilization, we introduce dual connectivity (DC) technologies in UAV-enabled MEC, which increases the time complexity associated with resource management. Considering the specific features of DC communication channels, we propose a UAV-assisted Metaverse rendering problem to enhance the Metaverse service experience and reduce the energy cost of edge devices. To solve the rendering problem with low complexity, we propose a diffusion model-based Metaverse rendering algorithm, where a novel diffusion model is used to generate integer rendering decisions with the aid of the gradient provided by the model-based Metaverse rendering problem. Moreover, with the given rendering decisions, the communication and computation resource allocation results are derived by the model-based optimization method. Finally, we conduct extensive simulation experiments based on real-world datasets. Comprehensive simulation results demonstrate that the diffusion model-based Metaverse rendering algorithm can reduce the Metaverse frame rendering time and improve user experience.

Popular methods usually use a degradation model in a supervised way to learn a watermark removal model. However, it is true that reference images are difficult to obtain in the real world, as well as collected images by cameras suffer from noise. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose a perceptive self-supervised learning network for noisy image watermark removal (PSLNet) in this paper. PSLNet depends on a parallel network to remove noise and watermarks. The upper network uses task decomposition ideas to remove noise and watermarks in sequence. The lower network utilizes the degradation model idea to simultaneously remove noise and watermarks. Specifically, mentioned paired watermark images are obtained in a self-supervised way, and paired noisy images (i.e., noisy and reference images) are obtained in a supervised way. To enhance the clarity of obtained images, interacting two sub-networks and fusing obtained clean images are used to improve the effects of image watermark removal in terms of structural information and pixel enhancement. Taking into texture information account, a mixed loss uses obtained images and features to achieve a robust model of noisy image watermark removal. Comprehensive experiments show that our proposed method is very effective in comparison with popular convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for noisy image watermark removal. Audio-visual active speaker detection (AV-ASD) aims to identify which visible face is speaking in a scene with one or more persons. Most existing AV-ASD methods prioritize capturing speech-lip correspondence. However, there is a noticeable gap in addressing the challenges from real-world AV-ASD scenarios. Due to the presence of low-quality noisy videos in such cases, AV-ASD systems without a selective listening ability are short of effectively filtering out disruptive voice components from mixed audio inputs. In this paper, we propose a Multi-modal Speaker Extraction-to-Detection framework named ‘MuSED’, which is pre-trained with audio-visual target speaker extraction to learn the denoising ability, then it is fine-tuned with the AV-ASD task. Meanwhile, to better capture the multi-modal information and deal with real-world problems such as missing modality, MuSED is modelled on the time domain directly and integrates the multi-modal plus-and-minus augmentation strategy. Our experiments demonstrate that MuSED substantially outperforms the state-of-the-art AV-ASD methods and achieves 95.6% mAP on the AVA-ActiveSpeaker dataset, 98.3% AP on the ASW dataset, and 97.9% F1 on the Columbia AV-ASD dataset, respectively. Since the concern of privacy leakage extremely discourages user participation in sharing data, federated learning has gradually become a promising technique for both academia and industry for achieving collaborative learning without leaking information about the local data. Unfortunately, most federated learning solutions cannot efficiently verify the execution of each participant's local machine learning model and protect the privacy of user data, simultaneously. In this article, we first propose a Zero-knowledge Proof-based Federated Learning (ZKP-FL) scheme on blockchain. It leverages zero-knowledge proof for both the computation of local data and the aggregation of local model parameters, aiming to verify the computation process without requiring the plaintext of the local data. We further propose a Practical ZKP-FL (PZKP-FL) scheme to support fraction and non-linear operations. Specifically, we explore a Fraction-Integer mapping function, and use Taylor expansion to efficiently handle non-linear operations while maintaining the accuracy of the federated learning model. We also analyze the security of PZKP-FL. Performance analysis demonstrates that the whole running time of the PZKP-FL scheme is approximately less than one minute in parallel execution. Secrecy Performance Analysis of Multi-Functional RIS-Assisted NOMA Networks

Although reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) can improve the secrecy communication performance of wireless users, it still faces challenges such as limited coverage and double-fading effect. To address these issues, in this paper, we utilize a novel multi-functional RIS (MF-RIS) to enhance the secrecy performance of wireless users, and investigate the physical layer secrecy problem in non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks. Specifically, we derive the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and secrecy throughput expressions of users in MF-RIS-assisted NOMA networks with external and internal eavesdroppers. The asymptotic expressions for SOP and secrecy diversity order are also analyzed under high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. Additionally, we examine the impact of receiver hardware limitations and error transmission-induced imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC) on the secrecy performance. Numerical results indicate that: i) under the same power budget, the secrecy performance achieved by MF-RIS significantly outperforms active RIS and simultaneously transmitting and reflecting RIS;ii) with increasing power budget, residual interference caused by imperfect SIC surpasses thermal noise as the primary factor affecting secrecy capacity;and iii) deploying additional elements at the MF-RIS brings significant secrecy enhancements for the external eavesdropping scenario, in contrast to the internal eavesdropping case. This article presents Appformer, a novel mobile application prediction framework inspired by the efficiency of Transformer-like architectures in processing sequential data through self-attention mechanisms. Combining a Multi-Modal data Progressive Fusion Module with a sophisticated Feature Extraction Module, Appformer leverages the synergies of multimodal data fusion and data mining techniques while maintaining user privacy. The framework employs Points of Interest (POIs) associated with base stations, optimizing them through comprehensive comparative experiments to identify the most effective clustering method. These refined inputs are seamlessly integrated into the initial phases of cross-modal data fusion, where temporal units are encoded via word embeddings and subsequently merged in later stages. The Feature Extraction Module, employing Transformer-like architectures specialized for time series analysis, adeptly distils comprehensive features. It meticulously fine-tunes the outputs from the fusion module, facilitating the extraction of high-calibre, multi-modal features, thus guaranteeing a robust and efficient extraction process. Extensive experimental validation confirms Appformer’s effectiveness, attaining state-of-the-art (SOTA) metrics in mobile app usage prediction, thereby signifying a notable progression in this field. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.
