Rural roads extracted from agricultural machinery trajectories have significant research value. Due to the intricate network of rural roads and the large difference in the density of agricultural machinery trajectories, traditional road extraction methods struggle to perform effectively on rural roads with complex topology and on agricultural machinery trajectories with obscure road features. Therefore, this paper proposes a CGAN-based model named T2R-GAN (Trajectory to Road-GAN) for rural thematic road extraction, which learns the trajectory-to-road feature mapping through continuous adversarial training between the ELAU-Net generator and the PatchGAN discriminator to adapt to trajectories of various densities. ELAU-Net is an efficient network that utilizes an encoder-decoder structure and ELA modules to enhance the capture of obscure road features between sparse trajectories. To enhance model performance and reduce the risk of overfitting, bilateral hinge loss is designed to train our model to enhances the discriminator’s discriminative ability to facilitate the generator to generate more realistic roads improve the generalization of the model. To verify the effectiveness of T2R-GAN in extracting roads from agricultural trajectory data, this paper selects the real agricultural trajectory data from Henan Province, China in June 2021 as the dataset for verification. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves 79.23% F1score, which is 5.53% higher than the previous state-of-art. The proposed T2R-GAN provides a novel and effective approach for extracting rural thematic roads from agricultural machinery trajectories for the first time. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Multivariate time series classification aims to determine the labels for multivariate time series samples. Although variable interaction relationships and sample similarity relationships exist in multivariate time series, the available related methods usually ignore the rich relationships and are ineffective in exploiting these. To solve this problem, we propose a Hierarchical Graph Embedding for Multivariate Time Series Classification (MTSC-HGE), which consists of a variable-wise attentive graph pooling module and a sample-wise graph convolutional module to obtain the relationships of variables and samples. Specifically, we design an attentive graph pooling module based on self-attention, which can obtain sample features fusing temporal patterns and variable interaction relationships in samples. Furthermore, we propose a graph mapping criterion that converts the MTS dataset into a graph based on dynamic time warping to explicitly reflect the similarity relationships between samples. To capture latent sample relationships, a GCN module is utilized on the sample graph to integrate sample features obtained from the attentive graph pool module. In addition, a classifier takes the rich representation output by the model to get the final predicted class. Extensive experiments on 14 public datasets show that MTSC-HGE significantly outperforms state-of-the-art baselines.

With the development of cloud computing technology,more and more data owners upload their local data to the public cloud server for storage and *** this can save customers’operating costs,it also poses privacy and security *** challenges can be solved using secure multi-party computation(SMPC),but this still exposes more security *** cloud computing using SMPC,clients need to process their data and submit the processed data to the cloud server,which then performs the calculation and returns the results to each *** client and server must be *** there is cooperation or dishonest behavior between clients,some clients may profit from it or even disclose the private data of other *** paper proposes the SMPC based on a Partially-Homomorphic Encryption(PHE)scheme in which an addition homomorphic encryption algorithm with a lower computational cost is used to ensure data comparability and Zero-knowledge Proof(ZKP)is used to limit the client’s malicious *** addition,the introduction of Oblivious Transfer(OT)technology also ensures that the semi-honest cloud server knows nothing about private data,so that the cloud server of this scheme can calculate the correct data in the case of malicious participant models and safely return the calculation results to each ***,the security analysis shows that the scheme not only ensures the privacy of participants,but also ensures the fairness of the comparison protocol data.

This letter is a brief summary of a series of IEEE TIV's decentralized and hybrid workshops (DHWs) on Federated Intelligence for Intelligent Vehicles. The discussed results are: 1) Different scales of large models (LMs) can be federated and deployed on IVs, and three types of federated collaboration between large and small models can be adopted for IVs. 2) Federated fine-tuning of LMs is beneficial for IVs data security. 3) The sustainability of IVs can be improved through optimizing existing models and continuous learning using federated intelligence. 4) LM-enhanced knowledge can make IVs smarter. With development of mobile edge computing (MEC) and the Artificial Intelligent Internet of Things (AIoT), how to use intelligent devices to better apply to industrial scenarios has become a critical factor in promoting industry to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enable development. In this paper, we analysis the problem of robotic manipulators working in dynamic environments and propose a model based on federated reinforcement learning (FRL) to control robotic manipulator grasping. In the proposed FRL framework, the optimal control policy is learned independently by multiple agents on their respective AIoT devices. Also, we use federated learning to ensure the safety of data and improve the reward function to accelerate the learning of model. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method and compare it with the traditional method based on RL. The experimental results show that proposed algorithm significantly improves the model training convergence speed by about 64% and the task average reward performance index by about 36% compared with baseline. © 2024 IEEE.

Understanding and improving fairness in cognitive diagnosis

Intelligent education is a significant application of artificial intelligence. One of the key research topics in intelligence education is cognitive diagnosis, which aims to gauge the level of proficiency among students on specific knowledge concepts(e.g., Geometry). To the best of our knowledge, most of the existing cognitive models primarily focus on improving diagnostic accuracy while rarely considering fairness issues; for instance, the diagnosis of students may be affected by various sensitive attributes(e.g., region). In this paper,we aim to explore fairness in cognitive diagnosis and answer two questions:(1) Are the results of existing cognitive diagnosis models affected by sensitive attributes?(2) If yes, how can we mitigate the impact of sensitive attributes to ensure fair diagnosis results? To this end, we first empirically reveal that several wellknown cognitive diagnosis methods usually lead to unfair performances, and the trend of unfairness varies among different cognitive diagnosis models. Then, we make a theoretical analysis to explain the reasons behind this phenomenon. To resolve the unfairness problem in existing cognitive diagnosis models, we propose a general fairness-aware cognitive diagnosis framework, FairCD. Our fundamental principle involves eliminating the effect of sensitive attributes on student proficiency. To achieve this, we divide student proficiency in existing cognitive diagnosis models into two components: bias proficiency and fair *** design two orthogonal tasks for each of them to ensure that fairness in proficiency remains independent of sensitive attributes and take it as the final diagnosed result. Extensive experiments on the Program for International Student Assessment(PISA) dataset clearly show the effectiveness of our framework.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, people have put forward higher requirements for robot path planning. As a more commonly used algorithm, reinforcement learning learns from experience by imitating the process of human learning skills and continuously iterates to do. In this paper, an improved Step Batch Q-Learning algorithm is proposed to solve the problem that the traditional Q-Learning algorithm has a slow convergence speed in discrete states. Prediction can detect obstacles and target points earlier, reduce the number of iterations, and significantly speed up the convergence time. Under the same experimental conditions, the method in this paper is compared with the traditional Q-Learning algorithm. The experimental results show that the improved Step Batch Q-Learning algorithm has significantly improved convergence speed and good adaptability. © 2022 IEEE.

The exponential growth of computer networks has intensified the requirement for robust security measures, rendering penetration testing - an essential practice that assesses vulnerabilities by simulating attacks - critically important. Automated penetration testing (APT) has evolved from rule-based approaches to intelligent decision-making, such as reinforcement learning (RL), better emulating the adaptability and decision-making process of human penetration testers. However, using RL for APT is challenged by the high cost of real-network interactions, the scarcity of security datasets, and the unique complexities of APT scenarios, which include long decision sequences and delayed rewards, complicating RL efficacy and convergence. Inspired by the Decision Transformer's proficiency in predicting action sequences for offline RL, coupled with its effectiveness in dealing with data efficiency and adaptability, we introduce a novel sequence-based methodology for designing APT agents. This approach is tailored to effectively manage the intricate aspects of data-scarce and complex APT scenarios. Our proposed model, PentraFormer, adeptly addresses these challenges prevalent in APT scenarios. The robustness of our model is attested to through extensive empirical evaluations conducted on APT-dedicated tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

Methods based on dynamically expanding architectures can effectively mitigate catastrophic forgetting in class incremental learning (CIL), but they often overlook information sharing and integration between subnetworks, leading to performance degradation and increased parameter count and memory consumption as the network expands. To address these complex issues, we introduce a new method called Task Separation and knowledge Sharing (TSKS), which transfers knowledge at both the logical and feature levels through Hybrid knowledge Distillation (HKD). In logical distillation, we combine Global knowledge Distillation (GKD) and Task knowledge Distillation (TKD) to establish connections between tasks. To prevent the model from favoring new classes, we design an Attention- Based Feature Fusion (ABFF) mechanism to capture important features. Additionally, we introduce a Soft-Margin Auxiliary Loss (SMAL) to help the model learn new concepts. Extensive experiments show that TSKS outperforms existing models on CIFAR100 and ImageNet100, regardless of whether memory samples are used. Notably, TSKS demonstrates superior performance in memory-free settings, indicating a reduced reliance on rehearsal memory. © 2024 IEEE.
