Protecting personal privacy and its right are a respect for the human rights, the necessary condition for healthy development of a democratic society and the important criteria of maintaining the basic dignity to be human. The internet of things with its ubiquitous data-aware and intelligent information processing capabilities, improves social efficiency and severe challenges for information security and privacy. In this environment, how to ensure information security and privacy are a major breakthrough in one of the obstacles and an important issue that must be addressed and resolved in the developing process of the internet of things. Thus, in the development of it, we should follow the basic principles of protecting personal privacy such as the entire management, legal compliance, security, adding information, balance and accountability, and establish such models of protecting personal privacy as laws, industry self-regulation and technology to fully protect the inviolability of personal privacy, and remove obstacles and barriers for the applications of the internet of things. © 2010 ASCE.

Duplicate detection has been well recognized as a crucial task to improve the quality of data. Related work on this problem mainly aims to propose efficient approaches over a single machine. However, with increasing volume of the data, the performance to identify duplicates is still far from satisfactory. Hence, we try to handle the problem of duplicate detection over MapReduce, a share-nothing paradigm. We argue the performance of utilizing MapReduce to detect duplicates mainly depends on the number of candidate record pairs. In this paper, we proposed a new signature scheme with new pruning strategy over MapReduce to minimize the number of candidate record pairs. Our experimental results over both real and synthetic datasets demonstrate that our proposed signature based method is efficient and scalable.

Accuracy estimation of link-based similarity measures and its application

Link-based similarity measures play a significant role in many graph based applications. Consequently, mea- suring node similarity in a graph is a fundamental problem of graph data mining. Personalized PageRank （PPR） and Sim- Rank （SR） have emerged as the most popular and influen- tial link-based similarity measures. Recently, a novel link- based similarity measure, penetrating rank （P-Rank）, which enriches SR, was proposed. In practice, PPR, SR and P-Rank scores are calculated by iterative methods. As the number of iterations increases so does the overhead of the calcula- tion. The ideal solution is that computing similarity within the minimum number of iterations is sufficient to guaran- tee a desired accuracy. However, the existing upper bounds are too coarse to be useful in general. Therefore, we focus on designing an accurate and tight upper bounds for PPR, SR, and P-Rank in the paper. Our upper bounds are designed based on the following intuition： the smaller the difference between the two consecutive iteration steps is, the smaller the difference between the theoretical and iterative similar- ity scores becomes. Furthermore, we demonstrate the effec- tiveness of our upper bounds in the scenario of top-k similar nodes queries, where our upper bounds helps accelerate the speed of the query. We also run a comprehensive set of exper- iments on real world data sets to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our upper bounds.

Recently, social tagging systems become more and more popular in many Web 2.0 applications. In such systems, Users are allowed to annotate a particular resource with a freely chosen a set of tags. These user-generated tags can represent users' interests more concise and closer to human understanding. Interests will change over time. Thus, how to describe users' interests and interests transfer path become a big challenge for personalized recommendation systems. In this approach, we propose a variable-length time interval division algorithm and user interest model based on time interval. Then, in order to draw users' interests transfer path over a specific time period, we suggest interest transfer model. After that, we apply a classical community partition algorithm in our approach to separate users into communities. Finally, we raise a novel method to measure users' similarities based on interest transfer model and provide personalized tag recommendation according to similar users' interests in their next time intervals. Experimental results demonstrate the higher precision and recall with our approach than classical user-based collaborative filtering methods. © 2012 IEEE.

Rethinking the Sample Relations for Few-Shot Classification

Feature quality is paramount for classification performance, particularly in few-shot scenarios. Contrastive learning, a widely adopted technique for enhancing feature quality, leverages sample relations to extract intrinsic features that capture semantic information and has achieved remarkable success in Few-Shot Learning (FSL). Nevertheless, current few-shot contrastive learning approaches often overlook the semantic similarity discrepancies at different granularities when employing the same modeling approach for different sample relations, which limits the potential of few-shot contrastive learning. In this paper, we introduce a straightforward yet effective contrastive learning approach, Multi-Grained Relation Contrastive Learning (MGRCL), as a pretraining feature learning model to boost few-shot learning by meticulously modeling sample relations at different granularities. MGRCL categorizes sample relations into three types: intra-sample relation of the same sample under different transformations, intra-class relation of homogenous samples, and inter-class relation of inhomogeneous samples. In MGRCL, we design Transformation Consistency Learning (TCL) to ensure the rigorous semantic consistency of a sample under different transformations by aligning predictions of input pairs. Furthermore, to preserve discriminative information, we employ Class Contrastive Learning (CCL) to ensure that a sample is always closer to its homogenous samples than its inhomogeneous ones, as homogenous samples share similar semantic content while inhomogeneous samples have different semantic content. Our method is assessed across four popular FSL benchmarks, showing that such a simple pre-training feature learning method surpasses a majority of leading FSL methods. Moreover, our method can be incorporated into other FSL methods as the pre-trained model and help them obtain significant performance gains. © 2025, CC BY-NC-SA.

Diagnosis of compound faults remains a challenge during fault diagnosis of bearings, owing to the different fault parameters coupling, fault characteristics diversity, and the exponential increasement of the number of possible failure modes. Current compound faults diagnostic methods, which are usually based on supervised or semi-supervised learning, require sufficient labeled or unlabeled training data for each compound faults. In industrial scenarios, neither labeled nor unlabeled training data of compound faults are usually difficult to collect and sometimes even inaccessible, whereas single faults samples are easy to obtain. Based on these issues, we construct a novel generative zero-shot learning (ZSL) compound faults diagnosis model identifies unseen compound faults using only single faults samples as training set. This model comprises several modules, namely semantic vector definition, feature extractor, generative adversarial modules. Firstly, we devise a unified semantic vector definition method for expressing single and compound faults based on theoretical correlation of characteristics between single fault and compound faults vibration data. Secondly, a CNN-based feature extractor is designed for extraction the fault features from the time-frequency domain of vibration data. Thirdly, a generative adversarial module performs adversarial training of semantic vectors and fault features of single faults to learn the mapping relationship between the fault features and the fault semantic vectors. Once trained, the generator is able to generate compound fault features using the compound fault semantic vectors, rather than any compound fault samples. Finally, the K-nearest neighbor method is adopted to identify the unseen compound faults by measuring the distance between the extracted feature from the testing compound fault samples and the generated features. The remaining useful life (RUL) of bearings is critical to the proper operation of mechanical equipment, maintenance of equipment costs and availability. The existing domain adaptation methods have had great success in RUL prediction. However, when the target bearing data are unavailable or unknown to be involved in model training, the domain adaptation approaches also incapable. To solve the problem, we propose a parallel reversible instance normalization method based on adaptive threshold stage division for remaining useful life prediction of unknown bearings. First, we design an adaptive threshold method to find degradation points to divide the healthy and degradation stages. Then according to time series, we merge the original vibration data and its instance normalized data to increase the data distribution diversity. Finally, we combine instance normalization and parallel reversible normalization of the source bearing data into unified RUL learning framework to solve the uncertainty of counterfactual data and improve RUL prediction performance. The results show that the method is superior to the state-of-the-art methods for RUL prediction of unknown bearings. © 2022 IEEE.

in this paper, we analyse the data access characteristics of a typical XML information retrieval system and propose a new query aware buffer replacement algorithm based on prediction of Minimum Reuse Distance (MRD for short). The algorithm predicts an object's next reference distance according to the retrieval system's running status and replaces the objects that have maximum reuse distances. The factors considered in the replacement algorithm include the access frequency, creation cost, and size of objects, as well as the queries being executed. By taking into account the queries currently running or queuing in the system, MRD algorithm can predict more accurately the reuse distances of index data objects. © 2010 IEEE.

Micro Expression (ME) is the subtle facial expressions that people show when they express their inner feelings. To address the problem that micro-expression recognition is difficult and less accurate due to the small number of samples and uneven distribution of different categories, we propose a model framework to improve the accuracy of micro-expression recognition. The peak frames containing more key expression information in the micro-expression video sequences are extracted;SE-ResNeXt-50, an improved residual network with SE module, is used to extract features from the peak frames of micro-expressions, where the SE module can better learn the key information in the features, and ResNeXt simplifies the structure by replacing the dense structure with the sparse structure through group convolution, which improves the recognition efficiency. The recognition efficiency is improved by replacing the dense structure with the sparse structure by group convolution. At the same time, the Focal Loss loss function can better solve the model performance problem caused by the imbalance of micro-expression data. Simulation experiments are conducted on the micro-expression dataset CASME, and it is found that the improved residual network and peak frame improve the accuracy and F1 value of micro-expression recognition. The improved residual network and peak frame can reduce the effect of small data set, make the model have good fitting effect, and improve the performance of different categories, improve the recognition accuracy of micro-expressions, and have better recognition performance for micro-expression recognition. © 2023 IEEE.
