Effcient Distributed Skyline Queries for Mobile Applications

In this paper, we consider skyline queries in a mobile and distributed environment, where data objects are distributed in some sites （database servers） which are interconnected through a high-speed wired network, and queries are issued by mobile units （laptop, cell phone, etc.） which access the data objects of database servers by wireless channels. The inherent properties of mobile computing environment such as mobility, limited wireless bandwidth, frequent disconnection, make skyline queries more complicated. We show how to efficiently perform distributed skyline queries in a mobile environment and propose a skyline query processing approach, called efficient distributed skyline based on mobile computing （EDS-MC）. In EDS-MC, a distributed skyline query is decomposed into five processing phases and each phase is elaborately designed in order to reduce the network communication, network delay and query response time. We conduct extensive experiments in a simulated mobile database system, and the experimental results demonstrate the superiority of EDS-MC over other skyline query processing techniques on mobile computing.

The traffic lights using by light emitting diode (LED) are able to indicate and provide the information about the ambient. The signal transimission performance of traffic system is related to a variety of factors such as the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), illuminance. Several factors are influence on illumiance and SNR, such as eatsink temperature and driver parameters. It has not been any substantial investigate on the operated effects of traffic light with sinusoidal waveform driver on illuminance and SNR. With the use of heatsink temperature and driver parameters of the LED source with sinusoidal waveform driver, prediction modeling for the illuminance and SNR of the mixed white LED sources with heatsink temperature, frequency, amplitude voltage, bias voltage and amplification factors are proposed in this paper to enhance the illuminance and SNR model of LED source inside smart traffic information system. The proposed model should carry out a series of calibration step for illuminance, heatsink temperature and driver parameters, which are easy for traffic designer and source system designers to follow in the traffic information system. The proposed model has been measured for the mixed white LED sources, with reasonably good agreements between theoretical and practical results. © 2022, The Author(s).

Partial Multi-label Learning (PML) aims to induce the multi-label predictor from datasets with noisy supervision, where each training instance is associated with several candidate labels but only partially valid. To address the noisy issue, the existing PML methods basically recover the ground-truth labels by leveraging the ground-truth confidence of the candidate label, i.e., the likelihood of a candidate label being a ground-truth one. However, they neglect the information from non-candidate labels, which potentially contributes to the ground-truth label recovery. In this paper, we propose to recover the ground-truth labels, i.e., estimating the ground-truth confidences, from the label enrichment, composed of the relevance degrees of candidate labels and irrelevance degrees of non-candidate labels. Upon this observation, we further develop a novel two-stage PML method, namely Partial MultiLabel Learning with Label Enrichment-Recovery (PML3ER), where in the first stage, it estimates the label enrichment with unconstrained label propagation, then jointly learns the ground-truth confidence and multi-label predictor given the label enrichment. Relation prediction in knowledge graphs (KGs) aims at predicting missing relations in incomplete triples, whereas the dominant embedding paradigm has a restriction on handling unseen entities during testing. In the real-world scenario, the inductive setting is more common because entities in the training process are finite. Previous methods capture an inductive ability by implicit logic in KGs. However, it would be challenging to preciously acquire entity-independent relational semantics of compositional logic rules and to deal with the deficient supervision of logic caused by the scarcity of relational semantics. To this end, we propose a novel graph convolutional network (GCN)-based model LogCo with logical reasoning by contrastive representations. LogCo firstly extracts enclosing subgraphs and relational paths between two entities to supply the entity-independence. Then a contrastive strategy for relational path instances and the subgraph is proposed for the issue of deficient supervision. The contrastive representations are learned for a joint training regime. Finally, prediction results and logic rules for reasoning are attained. Comprehensive experiments on twelve inductive datasets show that LogCo achieves outstanding performance comparing with SOTA inductive baselines. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Multicomponent Similarity Graphs for Cross-Network Node Classification

Cross-network node classification aims to train a classifier for an unlabeled target network using a source network with rich labels. In applications, the degree of nodes mostly conforms to the long-tail distribution, i.e., most nodes in the network are tail nodes with sparse neighborhoods. The established methods focus on either the discrepancy cross network or the long tail in a single network. As for the cross-network node classification under long tail, the coexistence of sparsity of tail nodes and the discrepancy cross-network challenges existing methods for long tail or methods for the cross-network node classification. To this end, a multicomponent similarity graphs for cross-network node classification (MS-CNC) is proposed in this article. Specifically, in order to address the sparsity of the tail nodes, multiple component similarity graphs, including attribute and structure similarity graphs, are constructed for each network to enrich the neighborhoods of the tail nodes and alleviate the long-tail phenomenon. Then, multiple representations are learned from the multiple similarity graphs separately. Based on the multicomponent representations, a two-level adversarial model is designed to address the distribution difference across networks. One level is used to learn the invariant representations cross network in view of structure and attribute components separately, and the other level is used to learn the invariant representations in view of the fused structure and attribute graphs. Extensive experimental results show that the MS-CNC outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. Impact Statement-Node classification is an important task in graph mining. knowledge transfer is an important type of knowledge service. Based on existing studies on knowledge transfer between employees, this paper builds a research model of factors affecting the pre-retiree's intention to transfer knowledge to the younger employee. data collected from 4 leaders and 7 pre-retirees in different industries through face-to-face interview is used to test and improve the model, then we gain a theoretical model which posits that the pre-retiree's knowledge transfer intention is influenced by the pre-retiree's perceptions of younger employees and emotions to organization, the younger employee's attitudes towards pre-retirees, the younger employee's learning intention and ability and work attitudes, communication difference between the pre-retiree and the younger employee. Our results contribute to the improvement of research on pre-retirees' knowledge transfer and have implications for management practices.

The recent rise of conversational applications such as online customer service systems and intelligent personal assistants has promoted the development of conversational knowledge base question answering (ConvKBQA). Different from the traditional single-turn KBQA, ConvKBQA usually explores multi-turn questions around a topic, where ellipsis and coreference pose great challenges to the single-turn KBQA systems which require self-contained questions. In this paper, we propose a rewrite- and-reason framework to first produce a full-fledged rewritten question based on the conversation history and then reason the answer by existing single-turn KBQA models. To overcome the absence of the rewritten supervision signals, we introduce a knowledge-augmented self-training mechanism to transfer the question rewriter from another dataset to adapt to the current knowledge base. Our question rewriter is decoupled from the subsequent QA process, which makes it easy to be united with either retrieval-based or semantic parsing-based KBQA models. Experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and a new state-of-the-art result is achieved. The code and dataset are available online now. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Based on the Social Cognition Theory, we constructed the influencing factors model of college students' intention of online health information behavior from three levels of individual, society and information systems, which was analyzed by using the PLS-SEM. Research shows that self-efficacy, information service quality, social support, information literacy and information quality significantly influence college students' intention of online health information behavior. However, the influence of perceived risk and information system quality is not significant. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

Recently, a number of advanced data collection and processing methodologies have led to the proliferation of uncertain data. When discovering from such uncertain data, we should handle these uncertainties with caution, because classical mining algorithms may not be appropriate for uncertain tasks. This paper proposes a generic framework of fuzzy associative classifier for probabilistic numerical data, which is prevalent in the real-world applications, such as sensor networks and GPS-based location. In this paper, we first introduce an Aprioribased algorithm for mining fuzzy association rules from a probabilistic numerical dataset based on novel support and confidence measures suitable for such dataset. Then, we give fuzzy rules redundancy pruning strategy and database coverage method to build a compact fuzzy associative classifier in removing redundant rules and thus improving the accuracy of the classifier. We also redefine multiple fuzzy rules classification method for classifying new instances. Extensive experimental results show the effectiveness and efficiency of our algorithm. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
